Resistance levels can stay intact for an extended period of time due to remorseful buyers. These are people who purchased shares at the resistance that regretted doing so when the price dropped after.
Some of them decided to hold onto their losing positions, but they also decided that if they can eventually get out at breakeven they would. As a result when Dollar Tree rallied back up to their buy price they placed sell orders.

<a href="https://www.benzinga.com/analyst-stock-ratings/analyst/59493ca670ed7a0001097213/scot-ciccarelli">Analyst</a><a href="https://www.benzinga.com/analyst-stock-ratings/analyst/59493ca670ed7a0001097213/scot-ciccarelli"> Scot Ciccarelli</a> reiterated a Buy rating, while lifting the price target from $76 to $84.
Dollar Tree has "solid sales momentum," resulting in fourth-quarter comp of 2.0%, which was "moderately better than our 1.0%E" and was driven by 70 basis points (bps) of transaction growth and 130 bps by ticket, Ciccarelli said in a note. Management projected 3%-5% comp growth in the first quarter and the full year, "which would be higher than the majority of our universe," he added.
While the terms of separation from Family Dollar and the process of transitioning multiple systems and platforms to the cloud could impact earnings in 2025, these expenses will ease over time, the analyst stated. Dollar Tree's recent investments in DT 3.0 should "generate positive results," he further wrote.

<h1 class="wp-block-heading">Telsey Advisory Group On Dollar Tree</h1>
<a href="https://www.benzinga.com/analyst-stock-ratings/analyst/5e301e08430dee0001c88c8d/joseph-feldman">Analyst</a><a href="https://www.benzinga.com/analyst-stock-ratings/analyst/5e301e08430dee0001c88c8d/joseph-feldman"> Joseph Feldman</a> maintained a Market Perform rating, while raising the price target from $75 to $82.
The company's decision to sell its Family Dollar business "should help streamline operations and unlock the value of its core Dollar Tree business," Feldman said. "Dollar Tree has successfully attracted higher income households that are trading down to seek value while remaining relevant to its middle-income households by offering alternatives," he wrote.
The company plans to open around 400 new stores, representing unit growth of around 4.5%, while accruing benefits from newness in merchandising, the analyst stated. While Dollar Tree's investments in store associates and technology will increase expenses in 2025, this is "a positive step for the long term," he added.
<h1 class="wp-block-heading">BMO Capital Markets On Dollar Tree</h1>
<a href="https://www.benzinga.com/analyst-stock-ratings/analyst/58d11d39b85e93000188d7a0/kelly-bania">Analyst Kelly Bania</a> reaffirmed a Market Perform rating and price target of $70.
"While the sale of Family Dollar should allow management to move forward with more focus and less capex drain, the outlook now squarely falls on the performance of Dollar Tree, which we believe may have to increasingly rely on price to offset a volatile and uncertain tariff outlook," Bania wrote in a note.
Proceeds from the Family Dollar sale, the elimination of a drain on capital expenses and cash in hand could leave Dollar Tree with around $2 billion in cash when the transaction closes in June, the analyst stated. This would provide "some cushion" for the company's earnings outlook for 2025, she added.

Dollar Tree Inc (NASDAQ:<a class="ticker" href="https://www.benzinga.com/stock/DLTR#NASDAQ">DLTR</a>) posted better-than-expected fourth-quarter FY24 <a href="https://www.benzinga.com/quote/DLTR/earnings">earnings on Wednesday</a>.
On Wednesday, the company reported fourth-quarter sales of $8.26 billion, beating the analyst consensus estimate of $8.24 billion. Adjusted EPS of $2.29 also beat the consensus estimate of $2.19.
Dollar Tree reached an agreement today, under which Brigade Capital Management, LP (Brigade) and Macellum Capital Management, LLC (Macellum) will partner to acquire the company's Family Dollar business segment for $1.007 billion.
"In the fourth quarter, our team was focused on successfully closing out the year, bringing the strategic review to a favorable conclusion, and setting Dollar Tree on a path to realize its full potential to create long-term value for our associates, customers, and shareholders," said CEO Mike Creedon.
Dollar Tree sees FY25 sales from continuing operations of $18.5 billion – $19.1 billion. Same store sales growth of 3% – 5%. The company anticipates FY25 adjusted EPS from continuing operations of $5.00 – $5.50. Dollar Tree sees first-quarter revenue from continuing operations of $4.5 billion – $4.6 billion. Same store sales growth of 3% – 5%. The company expects first-quarter adjusted EPS of $1.10 – $1.25.
Dollar Tree shares gained 7.2% to trade at $74.21 on Thursday.

Shares of Concentrix Corporation (NASDAQ:<a class="ticker" href="https://www.benzinga.com/stock/CNXC#NASDAQ">CNXC</a>) rose sharply during Thursday's session after the company reported better-than-expected first-quarter financial results and issued second-quarter revenue guidance <a href="https://in.benzinga.com/news/earnings/25/03/44504468/concentrix-shares-pop-on-strong-q1-results-raised-revenue-guidance">above estimates</a>.
Concentrix reported quarterly earnings of $2.79 per share, which beat the analyst consensus estimate of $2.58. Quarterly revenue came in at $2.37 billion, which beat the analyst consensus estimate of $2.36 billion and is down slightly from revenue of $2.4 billion from the same period last year.
Concentrix raised its fiscal 2025 reported revenue outlook from between $9.47 billion and $9.61 billion to between $9.49 billion and $9.635 billion, versus the $9.54 billion estimate.
Concentrix shares jumped 27% to $58.28 on Thursday.
