CoreWeave said on the conference call following the report that it expects capital expenditures to be between $3 billion and $3.5 billion in the second quarter, and rise to $20 billion to $23 billion in full-year 2025.
The Nvidia-backed AI company also said it signed a $4 billion expansion with an AI enterprise on the call, but it did not disclose details or name the company.
In a regulatory <a href="https://www.sec.gov/ix?doc=/Archives/edgar/data/0001769628/000176962825000014/crwv-20250331.htm#fact-identifier-993">filing</a> related to earnings on Thursday, the company revealed that it entered into additional agreements with OpenAI in May to provide the company with access to cloud computing capacity. CoreWeave disclosed that OpenAI has committed to pay the company up to $4 billion through April 2029 related to the agreement.

The company announced its ad-supported plan, which launched in 2022, has hit 94 million monthly active users globally. This total is up from 70 million in November 2024, as reported by <a href="https://deadline.com/2025/05/netflix-ad-tier-reaches-94-million-monthly-active-users-1236397938/">Deadline</a>.
Netflix said its ad-supported plan users spend 41 hours watching Netflix content a month on average. Netflix's President of Advertising Amy Reinhard said the company's ad-supported plan reaches more people in the key 18-34 year-old demographic than any broadcast or cable network.
"When you compare us to our competitors, attention starts higher and ends much higher. And even more impressive, members pay as much attention to mid-roll ads as they do to the shows and movies themselves," Reinhard said.
The strong response to the ad-supported plan could be good news for the company with the launch of its in-house advertising platform in the U.S. and Canada. Netflix said it will roll this platform out in the remaining ad-supported countries by June.
Reinhart said Netflix's superpower is having great technology and great entertainment when rival streaming companies are usually "either/or."
"The foundation of our business is in place. From here, the pace of progress is going to be even faster."

More Live Content/Reality TV: Netflix has been adding live content like sports, comedy specials and award shows in recent years in a push for more subscribers and additional advertising revenue.
At the upfront, Netflix Chief Content Officer Bela Bajaria highlighted some upcoming live content, such as a boxing match on July 11 and two NFL games on Christmas Day, as reported by <a href="https://techcrunch.com/2025/05/14/netflix-adds-more-live-tv-to-its-lineup/">TechCrunch</a>.
The NFL schedule was released Wednesday. The two Netflix Christmas games have been revealed as the Dallas Cowboys vs. Washington Commanders (1 p.m. ET) and the Detroit Lions vs. Minnesota Vikings (4:30 p.m. ET).
Netflix also announced it will livestream the Screen Actors Guild Awards on March 1, 2026 and stream its upcoming "Netflix Tudum 2025: The Live Event" on May 31, 2025.
The streaming company highlighted several upcoming reality competitions, including a reboot of "Star Search," an old talent show that aired from 1983 to 1995, as reported by <a href="https://deadline.com/2025/05/tar-search-reboot-underway-at-netflix-1236397644/">Deadline</a>.
Netflix's "Star Search" will see contestants perform in music, dance and comedy with kids also able to compete. Episodes will be livestreamed twice weekly with viewers voting on the contestants they like best to move forward in the competition.
The original "Star Search," with Ed McMahon as the host, featured many future celebrities before they were famous including Beyoncé, Justin Timberlake, Britney Spears, Dave Chappelle, Christina Aguilera and Adam Sandler.
A "Star Search" reboot in 2003 lasted only one year for CBS.
Netflix will also <a href="https://deadline.com/2025/05/building-the-band-premiere-window-netflix-liam-payne-1236398121/">debut </a>a new music reality competition called "Building the Band" this summer. The series, which has already been filmed, is the final TV series from late One Direction band member Liam Payne.
Payne was featured as one of the judges and mentors on the show alongside Nicole Scherzinger and Kelly Rowland, with Backstreet Boys member AJ McLean hosting.
The show was wrapped prior to Payne's death in October, but has been stuck in limbo with Netflix consulting with Payne's family on how to proceed with the show.
On the show, singers form bands without being able to see each other, in a format similar to "Love is Blind."
Why It's Important: While Netflix's upfront presentation was mostly a celebration of success and a look into future content for advertisers, it can likely be a key demonstration to shareholders of where the company is headed.
Advertising has become a key focus for the company to boost future revenue, and live content has shown success in capturing strong viewership and premium advertising rates.
Netflix has launched several reality TV competitions in the past and the ability to show off "Star Search" as a live competition with fan voting could put the streamer on par with broadcast network reality competitions that command premium audiences with live voting elements.
Along with new content, Netflix also announced renewals of several hit shows including "Bridgerton," "Love on the Spectrum" and "My Life with the Walter Boys."
Netflix has an exciting 2025 ahead, with new seasons of "Wednesday," "Stranger Things," and "Squid Game" all set to come, alongside new content and live sports content from WWE, boxing, and the NFL.
NFLX Price Action: Netflix stock is up 1.1% to $1,163.42 versus a 52-week trading range of $587.04 to $1,164.00. Netflix stock is up 31% year-to-date in 2025 and more than 80% over the last year.

California's cannabis industry was dealt a serious blow this week as Gov. Gavin Newsom's revised state budget confirmed the scheduled increase in the cannabis excise tax from 15% to 19%, effective July 1. The change, originally triggered by Assembly Bill 195 in 2022, will move forward despite calls from industry leaders and lawmakers to delay or freeze the hike amid ongoing market contraction and widespread business closures.
<h3 class="wp-block-heading">&#8216;A More Than 25% Tax Increase&#8217; On A Declining Market</h3>
The California Cannabis Operators Association (CaCOA), which represents over 300 licensed businesses across the state, warned the increase could be catastrophic.
"California's legal cannabis industry cannot withstand a more than 25% tax increase when sales have already declined by 19% and thousands of businesses have closed their doors," said Amy O'Gorman Jenkins, executive director of CaCOA. "Raising taxes on a struggling industry—especially one already undercut by untaxed, unregulated operators—defies economic sense and contradicts Proposition 64's core intent."
The tax bump stems from a 2022 policy change that eliminated California's cannabis cultivation tax and shifted revenue collection downstream to retail. Under that law, the excise tax rate was set to adjust based on revenue trends and the California Department of Tax and Fee Administration (CDTFA) announced in April that the rate would rise to 19% starting July 1, 2025.
The updated budget leaves the rate increase untouched. While it proposes tougher enforcement against illicit sellers and maintains licensing fee stability, it omits any relief for regulated operators facing rising costs and shrinking margins.
<h3 class="wp-block-heading">A Legislative Push To Freeze The Tax</h3>
Assemblymember Matt Haney (D-San Francisco) introduced AB 564 earlier this year to halt the tax hike. The bill passed early committee votes with bipartisan support, but time is running out. CaCOA says it's mobilizing with Haney and coalition partners to include the freeze in a trailer bill ahead of the final budget vote in June.
"This fight is far from over," CaCOA said in a statement. "We're working to ensure the freeze is included in the final budget through trailer bill legislation."
<h3 class="wp-block-heading">What It Means For Operators</h3>
The impact of the tax hike will be most visible at the cash register, where total taxes (state excise, sales tax and local levies) can already exceed 40% in many parts of California. Industry groups warn that such burdens will push more consumers toward unlicensed sellers, further eroding legal sales.
Companies like Glass House Brands (OTCQX:<a class="ticker" href="https://www.benzinga.com/stock/GLASF#OTCQX">GLASF</a>), one of the state's largest cannabis producers and retailers, have already expressed concern about pricing pressures. Though Glass House has managed to gain market share by lowering production costs, CEO Kyle Kazan recently noted that California pricing remains "destructive," forcing many competitors into insolvency.
Other publicly traded cannabis companies with significant exposure to California, such as Planet 13 Holdings (OTC:<a class="ticker" href="https://www.benzinga.com/stock/PLNH#OTC">PLNH</a>), StateHouse Holdings (OTC:<a class="ticker" href="https://www.benzinga.com/stock/STHZF#OTC">STHZF</a>) and Gold Flora Corporation (OTC:<a class="ticker" href="https://www.benzinga.com/stock/GRAM#OTC">GRAM</a>), are navigating substantial financial challenges. Planet 13 remains operational, reporting revenue growth in its latest quarterly results. In contrast, StateHouse Holdings filed for bankruptcy in Canada in October 2024 and entered receivership proceedings in the U.S., with operations continuing under court supervision. Similarly, Gold Flora filed for voluntary receivership in March 2025 due to mounting debts and legal issues, including liabilities inherited from its 2023 merger with TPCO. Despite these proceedings, Gold Flora continues to operate its 16 dispensaries and cultivation facilities while preparing for an orderly sale of its assets. The impending excise tax hike may further complicate efforts for these companies to maintain market share and achieve profitability.
<h3 class="wp-block-heading">Budget Highlights: Enforcement, But No Relief</h3>
The revised budget does include proposals to expand enforcement powers for the Department of Cannabis Control (DCC), including authority to seal unlicensed businesses—similar to New York's "Operation Padlock to Protect." It also provides funding incentives for cities and counties to allow cannabis retail, even if they currently prohibit cultivation.
Still, those measures fall short of what many in the industry say is necessary to stabilize the market.
