Constellation Brands is the largest provider of alcoholic beverages across the beer, wine, and spirits categories in the us, generating 82% of revenue from Mexican beer imports under top-selling brands such as Modelo and Corona. The rest of the business includes some remaining wine and spirits brands, categories where the company continue to prune assets in recent years. With its exclusive rights tied to the Mexican beer brands effective only in the us, the firm has little revenue exposure to international markets. Constellation owns a 26% stake in no-moat Canopy Growth, a medicinal and recreational cannabis producer in Canada, and has a 50/50 joint venture with glass manufacturer Owens-Illinois in Mexico.

<a href="https://www.benzinga.com/analyst-stock-ratings/analyst/67dc13965b91ab0001589119/nick-anderson">Analyst Nick Anderson</a> maintained a Buy rating and price target of $256.
Constellation Brands reported a decline of 1.8% in beer shipments, Anderson said in a note. "4Q marks the first negative depletions quarter since FY&#8217;10," he added.
The company's beer net sales stood at $1.70 billion, with consolidated net sales of $2.16 billion, above consensus of $2.13 billion, and adjusted earnings of $2.63 per share, beating consensus of $2.28 per share, the analyst stated. Taking into account the impact of tariffs and the Wine Divestitures, Constellation Brands gave its fiscal 2026 guidance below consensus, he said.

Needham On Constellation Brands
<a href="https://www.benzinga.com/analyst-stock-ratings/analyst/6304db77e4a8c500019458fb/gerald-pascarelli">Analyst Gerald Pascarelli</a> reiterated a Buy rating and price target of $215.
Constellation Brands' quarterly performance is "largely irrelevant given all the other news, including the sale of its low-end wine business and a notably lower outlook on beer," Pascarelli said. Management guided to fiscal 2026 beer sales growth of between flat to 3%, while meaningfully lowering their mid-term targets, 2%-4% growth in fiscal 2027 and 2028, from their previous outlook of 7%-9%, he added.
"STZ&#8217;s FY26 EPS guidance of $12.60-$12.90 embeds a tariff impact on Mexico / Canada, which was not quantified, and will likely be a key focus on their upcoming earnings call," the analyst wrote. The conservatism sets the company up for meeting the new set of targets, he further stated.
STZ Price Action: Shares of Constellation Brands had declined by 1.6% to $180.41 at the time of publication on Thursday.

Constellation Brands Exec Says Products Remain Compliant With USMCA Trade Pact

Constellation Brands Inc (NYSE:<a class="ticker" href="https://www.benzinga.com/stock/STZ#NYSE">STZ</a>) reported fourth-quarter earnings on Wednesday. Its net sales grew 1% year over year (Y/Y) to&nbsp;$2.16 billion, beating the analyst <a target="_blank" href="https://www.benzinga.com/pressreleases/25/04/g44723665/constellation-brands-reports-fiscal-year-and-fourth-quarter-2025-financial-results-and-fiscal-year" rel="noreferrer noopener">consensus estimate of&nbsp;$2.13 billion</a>.
Net sales for the Beer segment remained flat Y/Y at&nbsp;$1.70 billion, and Wine and Spirits rose 11%&nbsp;Y/Y to&nbsp;$459.8 million. Shipment volume for Beer fell 1.8% Y/Y, while Wine and Spirits rose 3.5% Y/Y.
Gross profit increased 7% year over year&nbsp;to&nbsp;$1.11 billion. The company reported an operating loss of $(150.3) million compared to operating income of&nbsp;$629.4 million in the same quarter a year ago.
The operating margin for the quarter was&nbsp;(6.9)% vs. 29.4% in the prior-year quarter.
Adjusted EPS of&nbsp;$2.63 beat the analyst&nbsp;<a target="_blank" href="https://www.benzinga.com/earnings" rel="noreferrer noopener">consensus estimate of&nbsp;$2.28.</a>
The company generated&nbsp;an operating cash flow&nbsp;of&nbsp;$3.2 billion in FY25, a&nbsp;13% year-over-year&nbsp;increase, and&nbsp;a free cash flow&nbsp;of&nbsp;$1.9 billion, a&nbsp;28% year-over-year&nbsp;growth.
Constellation Brands ended the quarter with&nbsp;$68.1 million&nbsp;in cash and equivalents as of February 28.
As of the end of fiscal 2025, Constellation Brands had around 48 million hectoliters of production capacity across its facilities in Mexico.
Dividend: Constellation's board declared a quarterly cash dividend of&nbsp;$1.02&nbsp;per share, an increase of 1%, payable on May 15, to stockholders of record on April 29.
Buyback: The company announced a new 3-year&nbsp;share repurchase authorization of $4 billion.
President and CEO Bill Newlands stated, "Despite a softer consumer demand backdrop in fiscal 2025, we delivered another year of Enterprise net sales growth and substantial comparable operating margin improvement, as well as double-digit comparable EPS growth."
"Looking ahead, in a tough socioeconomic environment we are taking decisive actions designed to continue to support our industry-leading Beer Business, reset our cost base, and redefine our portfolio."
Garth Hankinson, Executive Vice President and Chief Financial Officer, added, "We remain committed to these balanced priorities as we deploy the approximately $9 billion of operating cash flow we expect to generate between fiscal 2026 and fiscal 2028, including through the use of our new total $4 billion share repurchase authorization aligned with that period."
Guidance: The company issued FY26 guidance, projecting comparable EPS of <a target="_blank" href="https://www.benzinga.com/calendars/guidance" rel="noreferrer noopener">$12.60–$12.90 vs. consensus of $13.45</a>.
The company expects enterprise organic net sales growth to be flat to 3% in the Beer segment and a decline of 17% to 20% in the Wine and Spirits segment in FY26.
Also, the company sees operating cash flow of $2.7 billion–$2.8 billion and free cash flow of $1.5 billion–$1.6 billion, including recently disclosed Wine and Spirits divestiture and restructuring actions.
The company expects EPS growth in the mid-single to low-double digits in FY27 and in the low-single to mid-single digits in FY28.
Constellation projects cumulative operating cash flow and free cash flow for fiscal 2027–2028 to exceed $6 billion and $5 billion, respectively.
For FY27-FY28, the company anticipates enterprise net sales growth of approximately 2% to 4%, with growth of 2% to 4% in Beer segment and flat to +3% in Wine and Spirits segment.
Between FY26 and FY28, the company plans to invest around $2 billion in capital expenditures, mainly to continue the modular development of its third brewery in Veracruz and expand existing sites.
By FY28, capacity in Mexico is expected to grow to about 55 million hectoliters to support anticipated demand for its high-end beer brands.
Constellation Brands states that its guidance reflects the expected impact of tariffs announced by the U.S. on April 2 and Canada on March 4.
The company also expects its restructuring actions to generate over $200 million in net annualized cost savings by FY28.

Corona Beer Maker Talks Tariff Impact, Issues Conservative Outlook

U.S. stock futures were lower on Thursday after staging a stellar recovery on Wednesday after a tariff pause. Futures of major benchmark indices were down in premarket.
President Donald Trump attributed the tariff pause to negotiation efforts by roughly 75 non-retaliating nations in a Truth Social post.
Amid investor anxiety regarding trade barrier impacts on the economy, the investors will keep an eye on the upcoming Consumer Price Index data. Federal Reserve Chair Jerome Powell emphasized last week that there is &#8220;no rush&#8221; to lower rates.
Economists&#8217; <a href="https://www.benzinga.com/economics/macro-economic-events/25/04/44716504/sink-or-swim-why-this-weeks-inflation-report-is-crucial-for-markets">median forecast anticipates</a> a 2.6% annual increase in the overall CPI for March 2025, a moderation from February&#8217;s 2.8% and the smallest inflation figure since October 2024. Monthly price growth is projected to be a mere 0.1%. 
The core CPI, excluding volatile food and energy prices, is expected to ease slightly to a 3.0% year-over-year rate, compared to February&#8217;s 3.1%. However, the monthly core CPI is predicted to rise to 0.3%, an increase from the previous month&#8217;s 0.2% pace.
The 10-year Treasury bond yielded 4.29% and the two-year bond was at 3.85%. The CME Group's FedWatch <a href="https://www.cmegroup.com/markets/interest-rates/cme-fedwatch-tool.html">tool</a>&#8216;s projections show markets pricing a 79.8% likelihood of the Federal Reserve keeping the current interest rates unchanged in its May meeting.

Fueled by President Trump&#8217;s unexpected 90-day tariff pause for non-retaliating nations, U.S. stocks soared on Wednesday, with consumer discretionary, information technology, and communication services sectors leading the charge.
The S&amp;P 500 recorded its largest single-day gain since 2008. Notable individual movers included Apple Inc. (NASDAQ:<a class="ticker" href="https://www.benzinga.com/stock/AAPL#NASDAQ">AAPL</a>) up over 15%, Nvidia Corp. (NASDAQ:<a class="ticker" href="https://www.benzinga.com/stock/NVDA#NASDAQ">NVDA</a>) surging around 19%, and Tesla Inc. (NASDAQ:<a class="ticker" href="https://www.benzinga.com/stock/TSLA#NASDAQ">TSLA</a>) leaping more than 22%, although a subsequent Truth Social post from Trump threatened a 125% tariff hike on Chinese goods.
Additionally, U.S. mortgage application volumes saw a significant 20% weekly increase in early April.
The Dow Jones index surged 2,963 points or 7.87% to 40,608.45, whereas the S&amp;P 500 index skyrocketed 9.52% to 5,456.90. Nasdaq Composite jumped to end 12.16% higher at 17,124.97, and the small-cap gauge, Russell 2000, leaped 8.66% to 1,913.16.

Ryan Detrick from Carson Research cited historical data and concluded that after the S&amp;P 500 index gains over 5% in one day, the returns on the next day and in the next week are &#8220;fairly weak.&#8221;
On average, after such a gain, the S&amp;P 500 index falls by 0.7% the next day and by 1.7% in the next five days. However, the yearly gains after such a day are usually 26.9%.

Commodities, Gold, And Global Equity Markets:
Crude oil futures were trading lower in the early New York session by 3.50% to hover around $60.17 per barrel.
Gold Spot US Dollar advanced 0.73% to hover around $3,105.70 per ounce. Its fresh record high stood at $3,168.04 per ounce. The U.S. Dollar Index spot was lower by 0.61% at the 102.2750 level.
Asian markets were mostly higher on Wednesday except for India's S&amp;P BSE Sensex index. China&#8217;s CSI 300, Hong Kong's Hang Seng, Japan's Nikkei 225, Australia's ASX 200, and South Korea's Kospi index advanced. European markets were also higher in early trade.
