The euro has lost its position as the second-largest reserve asset globally, with gold taking its place, the European Central Bank (ECB) stated in its 2025 annual review.
The top European financial institution took notice of a surge in central bank purchases and record-breaking prices of <a target="_blank" href="https://www.benzinga.com/topic/gold" rel="noreferrer noopener">the yellow metal</a>. At 20% of reserves, gold is slowly closing the gap on the U.S. dollar, which leads at 46%.
"Adjusted for inflation, real gold prices in 2024 surpassed their previous peak seen during the 1979 oil crisis. Meanwhile, gold reserves held by central banks stand at levels close to those last seen in the Bretton Woods era (36,000 tons), although they now account for a far smaller share of total gold supply," the ECB said in the <a target="_blank" href="https://www.ecb.europa.eu/press/other-publications/ire/focus/html/ecb.irebox202506_01~f93400a4aa.en.html" rel="noreferrer noopener">review</a>.

The bank has stated the persistent rally into 2025, which has (for now) topped at $3,500 per ounce, driven by a mix of investor interest and persistent official sector demand.
The geopolitical shock of Russia's invasion of Ukraine in 2022 triggered a reassessment of reserve strategies among central banks. Concerns over sanctions and the weaponization of reserve currencies drove a shift toward gold, which has long been viewed as a neutral store of value.
This trend was notable among countries geopolitically aligned with or near China and Russia, many of which began increasing their gold holdings in late 2021.
In response, gold demand from the official sector surged to historic highs. Central banks added over <a target="_blank" href="https://www.benzinga.com/economics/macro-economic-events/25/02/43512109/gold-extends-records-as-central-banks-rush-to-buy-bullion-miners-eye-sixth-straight-winning-week" rel="noreferrer noopener">1,000 tons of gold</a> in each of the past three years—more than double the pace seen during the 2010s.
In 2024 alone, official sector purchases represented over 20% of global gold demand, effectively doubling the average share of 10% in the previous decade.
According to recent data from the World Gold Council, Türkiye, India, China, and Poland were the <a target="_blank" href="https://www.gold.org/goldhub/gold-focus/2025/05/indias-gold-market-update-gains-hold-despite-demand-pressure" rel="noreferrer noopener">largest gold buyers</a>, collectively adding over 600 tons since the end of 2021. Interestingly, while India recently became the fourth-largest global economy, Poland is its European counterpart and the only regional outperformer in 2024,<a target="_blank" href="https://think.ing.com/snaps/poland-cee-peers-2024/" rel="noreferrer noopener"> ING research</a> showed.
Boosted gold reserves could help these economies to <a target="_blank" href="https://www.benzinga.com/markets/commodities/25/05/45617358/gold-demand-holds-firm-as-dollar-confidence-wavers" rel="noreferrer noopener">safeguard against de-dollarization</a>, and hedge against inflation and political instability.
Despite gold's impressive climb, its dominance is still constrained by supply limitations and competition from other reserve assets. Notably, the global gold supply is expected to grow by just<a target="_blank" href="https://www.benzinga.com/markets/commodities/25/06/45828108/global-gold-supply-to-grow-1-in-2025-report-shows" rel="noreferrer noopener"> 1% in 2025</a>, while the U.S. dollar money supply (M2) has grown by<a target="_blank" href="https://ycharts.com/indicators/us_m2_money_supply_yoy" rel="noreferrer noopener"> 4.44%</a> in the last 12 months.

Key components of the spending cuts include modernizing the military and reforming contracting to save $850 billion.
The plans also aim to eliminate Medicare Advantage upcoding and fraud to save $830 billion.
&#8220;Republicans want to slash nearly $1T from Medicare and Medicaid—ripping away healthcare from 16 millions ordinary Americans to pay for tax breaks for billionaires. Instead, we could save $830 billion by ending corporate profiteering. SGR-1505 was observed to be safe, well tolerated, and clinically active, with responses observed in multiple histologies, including in patients with chronic lymphocytic leukemia (CLL) and Waldenström macroglobulinemia (WM). These data are being presented in a poster presentation at the European Hematology Association Annual Congress.
"We are very encouraged by the initial results from our Phase 1 study in patients with relapsed/refractory B-cell malignancies. The data presented today, coupled with the differentiated preclinical and safety profiles observed in our previously completed study in healthy volunteers, further increases our conviction about the potential for SGR-1505 to be a best-in-class therapy," said Margaret Dugan, M.D., chief medical officer at Schrödinger. "Dose escalation is complete, and we look forward to discussing these results and our proposed recommended Phase 2 dose with the FDA later this year."
"Despite recent advances in the treatment of B-cell malignancies, resistance to currently available therapies eventually results in treatment failure and disease progression for many patients," said Stephen Spurgeon, M.D., Associate Professor of Medicine, Oregon Health and Science University, and an investigator for the clinical study. "We know that MALT1 plays a critical role in key signaling pathways that drive cancer cell survival and proliferation, making it a promising target for a broad range of B-cell malignancies. Major Takeaways from the Study
<ul>
<li>As of the data cut-off date, May 13, 2025, 49 patients were enrolled and evaluable for safety, including 18 patients with CLL/SLL, nine with diffuse large B-cell lymphoma (DLBCL), six with Waldenström macroglobulinemia (WM), and five with marginal zone lymphoma (MZL).</li>
<li>Patients had a median of four (range two-nine) prior lines of therapy, with the most common being Bruton's tyrosine kinase (BTK) inhibitors (55.1%), BCL-2 inhibitors (18.4%) and BTK+BCL-2 inhibitors (18.4%).</li>
<li>SGR-1505 was well-tolerated with no dose-limiting toxicities or deaths due to treatment-emergent adverse events (TEAEs). Forty three percent of patients (n=21) experienced ≥ 1 treatment-related adverse event (TRAE), with the most common (≥ 10%) being rash (12%) and fatigue (12%). Ten patients (20%) experienced treatment-emergent serious adverse events (SAEs); one was treatment-related. All blood bilirubin increased TEAEs were asymptomatic, reported in patients with UGT1A1 polymorphisms and none were Grade 4.</li>
<li>Inhibition of IL-2 is a pharmacodynamic biomarker for target engagement and an exploratory endpoint in the study. Preliminary data indicated that SGR-1505 inhibits T-cell derived IL-2 upon ex vivo stimulation achieving the PD target of ~90% inhibition in the majority of PD-evaluable participants treated at ≥ 150 mg QD and all Q12H doses at steady state.</li>
<li>Preliminary efficacy data indicated SGR-1505 was clinically active as a monotherapy in a number of relapsed/refractory B-cell malignancies. Of the 49 participants, 45 patients had at least one follow-up disease assessment or disease progression and were evaluable for preliminary efficacy. The overall response rate (ORR) across all dose levels was 22% (n = 10/45). Thirteen of 49 patients had been on treatment for ≥120 days.
<ul>
<li>Among patients with indolent disease, 3/17 CLL/SLL, 5/5 WM, and 1/5 MZL patients responded. The responses of the three CLL responders were independently reviewed and confirmed, and two had a partial response (PR) with lymphocytosis (PR-L). Two of three CLL patients with partial responses were double-exposed to BTK and BCL-2 inhibitors, and all WM patients were exposed to BTK inhibitors.</li>
<li>The study recently began enrolling patients with aggressive lymphomas into the 300 mg QD and 100 mg Q12H cohorts. A PR was reported in one of four ABC-DLBCL patients.</li>

Hippo's homebuilder distribution network generated revenues of approximately $29.2million in the most recent trailing 12-month period1 and is expected to deliver approximately $7 million of adjusted EBITDA over the 12 months following the closing of the Partnership, which is currently anticipated to occur on or around July 1, 2025, subject to certain closing conditions. The Partnership is expected to be neutral to Net Leverage (as defined below) and accretive to 2026 pro forma adjusted Diluted EPS.
Separate from the purchase of Hippo's homebuilder distribution network, Millennial Specialty Insurance, LLC ("MSI"), The Baldwin Group's managing general agency (MGA), has entered into a Program Administrator Agreement and a Claims Administration Agreement with an affiliate of Hippo on a new homebuilder program aimed at providing additional proprietary capacity for Westwood's builder partners. Additionally, Hippo and its affiliates, including Spinnaker Insurance Company, have committed to provide capacity and reinsurance support for existing and potential future MSI programs.

The award provides the opportunity for continued production and fielding of these mission-critical vehicles into 2030, while preserving a mature U.S.-based supply chain which began with the initial FMTV A1P2 contract in 2009.

Nurix Therapeutics, Inc. The data include findings from the fully enrolled Phase 1a dose escalation study in patients with relapsed/refractory chronic lymphocytic leukemia (CLL) and the ongoing Phase 1a/1b cohorts of patients with Waldenström macroglobulinemia (WM). Ch.B, Ph.D., consultant hematologist at Leeds Teaching Hospitals NHS Trust, deputy chair of the United Kingdom National Cancer Research Institute CLL Study Group, and Dima El-Sharkawi, M.B., B.S., M.A., Ph.D., MRCP FRCPath, Consultant Haematologist, Royal Marsden NHS Foundation Trust, Sutton, U.K., will present these data at the 30th European Hematology Association Congress (EHA2025), taking place June 12–15, 2025, in Milan, Italy.

Data presented at EHA2025 include efficacy and safety findings for patients with CLL/SLL in the fully enrolled Phase 1a dose escalation study (n=48). This cohort of CLL patients was a heavily pretreated population that had received a median of four prior lines of therapy (range = 2–12) including prior covalent BTK inhibitors (97.9%), prior BCL2 inhibitors (83.3%), and prior non-covalent BTK inhibitors (27.1%). At baseline, many patients had mutations associated with BTK inhibitor resistance, including mutations in BTK (38.3%) and PLC2G (14.9%). Poor prognostic features were common, including TP53 mutations (44.7%), and five patients (10.4%) had central nervous system (CNS) involvement.
Patients were treated with bexobrutideg at doses ranging from 50 mg to 600 mg once daily by oral administration in the Phase 1a dose escalation study. As of the March 12, 2025 data cut, the median follow up was 9.0 months with most patients still on treatment. Bexobrutideg was well tolerated across all doses evaluated with the most common treatment emergent adverse events of purpura/contusion (45.8%), neutropenia (29.2%) and thrombocytopenia (22.9%), primarily low grade. No new onset atrial fibrillation was observed. Among the efficacy evaluable patients with CLL (n = 47), bexobrutideg treatment resulted in a robust objective response rate (ORR) of 80.9% across all doses tested with a median time to first response of 1.9 months. Many patients experienced deepening of their response with longer time, with multiple conversions from stable disease to partial responses and one patient, who has been on treatment for over two years, experienced a complete response. The median duration of response has not been reached, with 18 patients on treatment for more than a year. Responses were observed across all populations regardless of prior treatment, baseline mutations, or CNS involvement.
The data presented at EHA included patients with WM (n=22) treated with bexobrutideg at doses ranging from 50 mg to 600 mg once daily by oral administration from both the Phase 1a dose escalation and Phase 1b cohort expansion. Among the 22 WM patients, the median age was 72.5 years (range 58-86 years) and the median number of prior lines of therapy was 3 (range 2-5). All 22 patients previously had been treated with a covalent BTK inhibitor (100%), 21 had received prior chemotherapy/chemo-immunotherapy (95.5%), four had received prior non-covalent BTK inhibitor (18.2%), and one patient (4.5%) had received prior treatment with a BCL2 inhibitor. Baseline mutation status in MYD88 and CXCR4 was captured from patient records. 15 patients (68.2%) had mutations in MYD88, and five patients (22.7%) had mutations in CXCR4. Bexobrutideg was well tolerated in patients with WM with a profile that was consistent with the overall study population and previous disclosures. Adverse events (AEs) were predominantly low grade; with the most common being petechiae (27.3%), diarrhea (22.7%), purpura/contusion (18.2%), neutropenia (18.2%), and thrombocytopenia (18.2%). There were no dose limiting toxicities observed and no grade 5 AEs. Two treatment emergent AEs led to drug discontinuation. No new onset atrial fibrillation was observed.​ As of the March 12, 2025 data cut, 19 patients were evaluable for responses. Objective response was observed in 16 patients (84.2%), including two patients (10.5%) with very good partial response (VGPR), 11 patients (57.9%) with partial response (PR), and three patients (15.8%) with minor response (MR). Three patients (15.9%) had a best response of stable disease (SD). Responses were observed in patients regardless of their baseline mutations in MYD88 and CXCR4. Steady reductions in IgM levels were observed starting from the first assessment at four weeks, which continued to deepen, and three patients achieved IgM reductions of greater than 90%.
