Black reiterated that he wasn't criticizing the company for its "toe in the water" approach to the Robotaxi's launch. "One mishap or injury in Austin and the MSM will be all over this &#8211; particularly with no TSLA PR effort." He said.

Vale Q1 EPS $0.33 Misses $0.39 Estimate, Sales $8.12B Beat $8.03B Estimate

The U.S. Attorney's Office for the District of Columbia has revealed that charges have been filed against a suspect for the alleged vandalism of multiple Tesla Inc. (NASDAQ:<a class="ticker" href="https://www.benzinga.com/stock/TSLA#NASDAQ">TSLA</a>) vehicles.
What Happened: The attorney's office revealed on Thursday that 49-year-old Justin Fisher was charged with four counts of defacing public or private property following alleged vandalism targeted at Tesla vehicles between March 1 and March 21.
Court documents say the suspect's misdemeanor initial hearing will take place on June 10, 2025, in the Superior Court for the District of Columbia. Fisher was arrested on April 1.
U.S. Attorney Edward R. Martin Jr condemned the vandalism, calling the ‘Tesla Takedown' protests currently taking place across the U.S. an act of "Domestic Terrorism."
"These attacks are not just an attack on someone's property. They are meant to intimidate and suppress political speech and shut down the marketplace of ideas," Martin said.
Why It Matters: The news comes in when a recent <a href="https://www.benzinga.com/tech/25/04/44974056/tesla-protests-are-now-an-official-risk-factor-for-elon-musks-ev-giant-company-tells-sec-exaggerated-criticism-could-hinder-fundraising-efforts">SEC filing by Tesla</a> officially incorporated the protests as a risk factor to the company's business as well as fundraising efforts.
The company says that exaggerated or unfounded claims of its management have incited protests and violence against Tesla products and operations. CEO Elon Musk had slammed the protests and said they were <a href="https://www.benzinga.com/25/04/44942774/elon-musk-slams-tesla-protesters-says-they-benefited-from-government-waste-and-fraud-he-believes-to-have-cut-via-doge-theyre-the-recipients-of-wasteful-largesse">funded by government waste</a> in the Q1 earnings call on Tuesday.
However, Tesla owners in the U.S. <a href="https://www.benzinga.com/trading-ideas/25/04/44829030/tesla-owners-face-new-challenge-amid-tariffs-vandalism-insurance-costs-going-up-twice-the-national-rate">continue to face problems </a>with rising insurance premiums as well as declining used car values, among other troubles, amid Musk's continued endorsement of right-wing political ideals.

<li>Wall Street expects Phillips 66 (NYSE:<a class="ticker" href="https://www.benzinga.com/stock/PSX#NYSE">PSX</a>) to report a quarterly loss at 72 cents per share on revenue of $31.33 billion before the opening bell, according to data from <a href="https://pro.benzinga.com/dashboard">Benzinga Pro</a>. Phillips 66 shares fell 0.7% to $103.99 in after-hours trading.</li>
<li>Alphabet Inc (NASDAQ:<a class="ticker" href="https://www.benzinga.com/stock/GOOG#NASDAQ">GOOG</a>) (NASDAQ:<a class="ticker" href="https://www.benzinga.com/stock/GOOGL#NASDAQ">GOOGL</a>) reported better-than-expected first-quarter financial results after the closing bell on Thursday. Alphabet announced a 5% increase to the dividend with the quarterly payout going to 21 cents per share. The company also announced the Board of Directions authorized a $70 billion share repurchase plan on April 23. Alphabet shares gained 4.8% to $166.95 in the after-hours trading session.</li>
<li>Analysts are expecting Schlumberger Limited (NYSE:<a class="ticker" href="https://www.benzinga.com/stock/SLB#NYSE">SLB</a>) to post quarterly earnings at 74 cents per share on revenue of $8.59 billion. Alphabet, Intel And 3 Stocks To Watch Heading Into Friday

The CNN Money Fear and Greed index some improvement in market sentiment, while the index remained in the &#8220;Fear&#8221; zone on Thursday.
U.S. stocks settled higher on Thursday, with the Dow Jones index jumping more than 1% during the session to mark the first close above the 40,000 level since April 15.
Shares of Nvidia (NASDAQ:<a class="ticker" href="https://www.benzinga.com/stock/NVDA#NASDAQ">NVDA</a>), Amazon (NASDAQ:<a class="ticker" href="https://www.benzinga.com/stock/AMZN#NASDAQ">AMZN</a>) and Tesla (NASDAQ:<a class="ticker" href="https://www.benzinga.com/stock/TSLA#NASDAQ">TSLA</a>) all settled higher on Thursday.
Bristol Myers Squibb &amp; Co (NYSE:<a class="ticker" href="https://www.benzinga.com/stock/BMY#NYSE">BMY</a>) reported better-than-expected first-quarter results. PepsiCo, Inc. (NASDAQ:<a class="ticker" href="https://www.benzinga.com/stock/PEP#NASDAQ">PEP</a>) reported mixed first-quarter results and issued FY25 EPS guidance below estimates.
Meanwhile, signs of a potential thaw in the U.S.-China trade conflict emerged, with the White House reportedly considering exceptions for certain Chinese auto parts.
On the economic data front, the Chicago Fed National Activity Index declined to -0.03 in March compared to a reading of +0.24 in February. U.S. initial jobless claims climbed by 6,000 from the previous week to 222,000 during the third week of April. U.S. durable goods orders gained by 9.2% month-over-month to $315.7 billion in March.
Most sectors on the S&amp;P 500 closed on a positive note, with information technology, consumer discretionary and communication services stocks recording biggest gains on Thursday. However, consumer staples stocks bucked the overall market trend, closing the session lower.
The Dow Jones closed higher by around 487 points to 40,093.40 on Thursday. The S&amp;P 500 jumped 2.03% to 5,484.77, while the Nasdaq Composite surged 2.74% at 17,166.04 during Thursday's session.
Investors are awaiting earnings results from Phillips 66 (NYSE:<a class="ticker" href="https://www.benzinga.com/stock/PSX#NYSE">PSX</a>), Schlumberger Limited (NYSE:<a class="ticker" href="https://www.benzinga.com/stock/SLB#NYSE">SLB</a>) and Colgate-Palmolive Company (NYSE:<a class="ticker" href="https://www.benzinga.com/stock/CL#NYSE">CL</a>) today.
At a current reading of 30.9, the index remained in the &#8220;Fear&#8221; zone on Thursday, versus a prior reading of 28.4.
