Shares of precious metals stocks are trading higher as gold and silver prices rise following President Trump's EU tariff threat, which has caused macro uncertainty and weakness in the US dollar.

Despite the falling gold prices after the stock market rebound, the gold mining companies are poised for growth as this expert highlights &#8220;record levels of free cash flow&#8221; for these companies over the next two years.
What Happened: The Macro Strategist at Crescat Capital, Otavio Costa, has underscored the data for the two-year forward free cash flow estimate for gold mining companies, highlighting the possibility of strong fundamental growth.
According to a chart shared by him, the free cash flow estimates of these companies surpass the expectation of the gold price level by the Philadelphia Gold &amp; Silver Exchange by 2027.
&#8220;Despite the recent pullback in gold, mining companies remain positioned to deliver record levels of free cash flow in the current environment,&#8221; he said in an X post.
This comes as the Gold Spot US Dollar fell 1.02% to hover around $3,145.09 per ounce during the publication of this piece. It was much lower than its recent record high of $3,500.33 per ounce.
&#8220;I've always found it compelling when prices of an asset decline even as fundamentals improve,&#8221; said Costa, adding that &#8220;Investors are gradually beginning to grasp the magnitude of what's unfolding, but in my view, we've already entered the Golden Age of Mining.&#8221;

U.S. stock futures were higher this morning, with the Nasdaq futures gaining around 700 points on Monday.
Shares of Orla Mining Ltd. (NYSE:<a class="ticker" href="https://www.benzinga.com/stock/ORLA#NYSE">ORLA</a>) fell sharply in today's pre-market trading following <a href="https://www.benzinga.com/quote/ORLA/earnings">weak quarterly sales</a>.
Orla Mining posted adjusted earnings of 12 cents per share, beating market estimates of 10 cents per share. The company's quarterly sales came in at $140.67 million missing expectations of $163.19 million.
Orla Mining shares dipped 9.5% to $10.05 in the pre-market trading session.

Iamgold Corp (NYSE:<a class="ticker" href="https://www.benzinga.com/stock/IAG#NYSE">IAG</a>) shares are trading lower Tuesday following the release of the company's first-quarter 2025 financial results, which showed a significant miss on sales despite <a href="https://www.benzinga.com/pressreleases/25/05/45239357/iamgold-reports-first-quarter-2025-results">an increase in production.</a>
What To Know: The company reported revenue of $477.1 million, falling short of the $521.08 million expected by analysts. This revenue miss appears to be the primary driver behind the stock's decline, despite earnings per share of 10 cents, which slightly beat consensus estimates of nine cents. Year-over-year, EPS was down from 11 cents in the first quarter of 2024.
Gold production for the quarter totaled 161,000 attributable ounces across Iamgold's three active mines. While this marked a meaningful increase over the prior year, production at Westwood declined compared to the last quarter and ramp-up constraints at the Côté mine affected early throughput. The company did note that the Côté plant reached 90% of its nameplate throughput capacity in March and averaged 96% in the following month, signaling operational improvements ahead of full capacity later this year.
Management reaffirmed full-year guidance of 735,000 to 820,000 ounces of gold production and highlighted improvements in cost control and operating cash flow. The company posted a mine-site free cash flow of $139.6 million and ended the quarter with $745.8 million in available liquidity.
Despite solid operational progress and stronger production figures, investors focused on the weaker-than-expected top-line performance, leading to the stock's decline. 
The market&#8217;s response reflects concerns about pricing, timing of deliveries and broader execution risks, even as Iamgold emphasized a strong outlook for the rest of 2025.

Shares of gold stocks are trading lower. The commodity could be experiencing a mild reversal after a rally to all-time highs amid macro uncertainty.

Billionaire investor John Paulson and NovaGold Resources, Inc. (AMEX:<a class="ticker" href="https://www.benzinga.com/stock/NG#AMEX">NG</a>) have agreed to purchase a significant stake in the Donlin Gold project in Alaska. Barrick Gold Corp. (NYSE:<a class="ticker" href="https://www.benzinga.com/stock/GOLD#NYSE">GOLD</a>) will sell its entire 50% interest in the project <a href="https://www.benzinga.com/25/04/44927342/novagold-partners-inks-deal-with-barrick-gold-boosts-stake-in-donlin-project-for-1-billion">for $1 billion in cash.</a>
The Details: Novagold will purchase a 10% stake in Donlin Gold for $200 million, raising its ownership to 60% from 50%.
Paulson &amp; Co. will acquire the remaining 40% for $800 million, becoming a full and equal partner in managing the Donlin Gold project.
The Donlin Gold Project is a planned mining operation located in Alaska, with estimated gold reserves of approximately 39 million ounces — making it one of the world's largest undeveloped gold deposits.

Paulson, who has several notable investments in gold miners, called Donlin Gold "one of the most attractive development gold projects in the world."&nbsp;
"With 39 million ounces of gold at double the industry average grade, and an optimal location in the prime jurisdiction of Alaska — already the second largest gold-producing state in the United States — we believe that the project could create value for decades to come," Paulson added.&nbsp;
Paulson's Gold Miners: The billionaire investor's hedge fund Paulson &amp; Co. also holds a 37% stake in International Tower Hill Mines Ltd. (AMEX:<a class="ticker" href="https://www.benzinga.com/stock/THM#AMEX">THM</a>) and a $264.3 million stake in Perpetua Resources Corp. (NASDAQ:<a class="ticker" href="https://www.benzinga.com/stock/PPTA#NASDAQ">PPTA</a>).

Gold Rally: Gold has surged more than 30% in 2025, reaching $3,490 per ounce on Tuesday and setting a new record high price. 
In fact, Monday's 3%-plus gold rally was the fifth time in the past 10 trading days that gold climbed at least 2% in a single day. The only periods that experienced a higher frequency of 2%-plus daily moves in the past 50 years were in January and June 1980, according to Bespoke Investment Group.

These blockbuster flows signal broad-based institutional and retail demand. According to Goldman Sachs analyst Lina Thomas, the rally is not being fueled by short-term speculators.
"Data suggests the move has occurred without a substantial return of speculative flows," Thomas said. 
"With estimated COMEX speculative positioning still moderate, we view the rally as structurally supported and less exposed to sharp near-term liquidation risk. Thus, we see current levels as a tactically attractive entry point… and believe this reinforces upside risk to our $3,700/toz year-end forecast."
Ed Yardeni, president of Yardeni Research, said the current momentum validates his call from over a year ago. 
"We&#8217;ve been bullish on gold since it broke out above $2,000 per ounce at the end of February 2024. Our $4,000 target by the end of this year looks increasingly realistic. If that happens, then $5,000 would be our target for the end of 2026."
"This situation may come as a crisis for many assets, but for gold, it's a perfect outcome. Inflation fears remain high as the U.S. stock market loses trillions of dollars, and investors are leaning toward physical gold in search of security rather than risky assets like stocks and Bitcoin (CRYPTO: <a class="ticker" href="https://www.benzinga.com/quote/btc/usd">BTC</a>)," said Rick Kanda, managing director at The Gold Bullion Company, in an email.
<h1 class="wp-block-heading">Miners Regain Momentum</h1>
The rally is also lifting gold miners, many of which had lagged physical bullion for much of 2024. Now, they're catching up. "Gold has surged to new all-time highs above $3,000/ounce, driven by renewed flows into gold-backed ETFs and continued strong demand from global central banks," VanEck said Monday.
"At the same time, gold miners are beginning to regain leverage to gold prices, emerging as some of the best-performing stocks so far this year."
The VanEck Gold Miners ETF (NYSE:<a class="ticker" href="https://www.benzinga.com/stock/GDX#NYSE">GDX</a>) is up nearly 52% year-to-date, eyeing the strongest annual gain since the fund&#8217;s inception in 2007.
In response to the metal's powerful rally, Bank of America on Monday raised price targets across its North American gold and silver coverage. 
The move comes just ahead of first-quarter earnings season in the precious metals sector, which begins April 23 with Newmont Corp. (NYSE:<a class="ticker" href="https://www.benzinga.com/stock/NEM#NYSE">NEM</a>) and continues with Agnico Eagle Mines Ltd. (NYSE:<a class="ticker" href="https://www.benzinga.com/stock/AEM#NYSE">AEM</a>) on April 24.
