On Friday, May 30, U.S. markets closed mixed. The S&amp;P 500 ended flat but logged its strongest monthly gain since late last year, fueled by easing trade tensions, upbeat earnings, and subdued inflation. The Nasdaq also posted a solid monthly rise. Markets fluctuated on Trump&#8217;s conflicting trade signals, while investors held firm on rate cut expectations this fall.
In economic data, Consumer sentiment was revised to 52.2 in May from 50.8, while the Chicago PMI dropped to 40.5 from 44.6, indicating softer manufacturing.
Most S&amp;P 500 sectors ended lower Friday, led by losses in energy, consumer discretionary, and tech. Consumer staples and utilities outperformed, closing higher.
The Dow closed higher by 0.13% at 42,270.07, the S&amp;P 500 declined 0.01% to 5,911.69, and the Nasdaq fell 0.32% to 19,113.77.

BranchOut Food Inc. (NASDAQ:<a class="ticker" href="https://www.benzinga.com/stock/BOF#NASDAQ">BOF</a>), a leading food technology company specializing in its patented GentleDry&#x2122; dehydrated snacks and ingredients, announces the execution of a strategic agreement with Kaufman Kapital LLC, resulting in a $1 million cash infusion through the early exercise of existing warrants. The agreement also includes amendments to existing financing terms that strengthen BranchOut's balance sheet, allow for debt repayment and extend key debt maturities.
Under the terms of the agreement, Kaufman Kapital will exercise in full an existing warrant to purchase 1,000,000 shares of BranchOut's common stock, providing the Company with $1,000,000 in cash proceeds no later than June 16, 2025.
In addition, the parties agreed to the following amendments:

What Happened: During an appearance <a href="https://www.nbcnews.com/meet-the-press/video/speaker-mike-johnson-denies-trump-bill-threatens-medicaid-coverage-full-interview-240675397944">on</a> NBC's Meet the Press, Johnson was asked about projections that 4.8 million people could lose Medicaid coverage under the new spending bill.
"Those 4.8 million people will not lose their Medicaid unless they choose to do so," he said. According to the plan, childless, able-bodied adults aged 19 to 64 are required to work or volunteer at least 20 hours a week to <a href="https://www.benzinga.com/25/05/45558613/house-advances-trumps-sweeping-one-big-beautiful-bill-after-key-medicaid-tax-and-border-security-changes">maintain eligibility for Medicaid.</a>
"You're telling me that you're going to require the able-bodied — these young men, for example, OK — to only work or volunteer in their community for 20 hours a week, and that's too cumbersome for them? I'm not buying it. The American people are not buying it," Johnson said.

On claims that <a href="https://www.benzinga.com/general/health-care/25/05/45344596/house-republicans-push-880-billion-medicaid-cuts-to-renew-trump-tax-breaks-democrat-warns-millions-will-lose-their-health-care">people could lose coverage</a> due to administrative obstacles, he said, "The people who are complaining about losing their coverage are doing so because they can't fulfill the paperwork." He said the policy was based on "common sense."
"When people work, when able-bodied young men work, it's good for them, for their dignity, their purpose, and it's good for the community," he added. "If you can't find a job, then volunteer in your community for 20 hours, and you will meet the requirement."
Defending the bill as a whole, Johnson said: "What Republicans are doing is an important and frankly heroic thing."
He alleged that Medicaid is being misused, saying, "It's intended for young, you know, single, pregnant women and the disabled and the elderly. But what's happening right now is you have a lot of people, for example, young men, able-bodied workers, who are on Medicaid. They're not working when they can."
Why It Matters: According to the Congressional Budget Office, the new provisions are projected to save $625 billion of the targeted $800 billion in savings over the next ten years. The controversial new measures have generated intense debate over the past few weeks.
In April, Trump said he would <a href="https://www.benzinga.com/government/25/04/45064937/donald-trump-threatens-to-veto-any-gop-bill-that-touches-medicaid-or-social-security-if-it-cuts-it-i-would-not-approve">"veto" any bill that includes cuts to Medicaid</a>. However, as the bill evolved, Medicaid cuts became central to its project of reducing federal spending, and <a href="https://www.benzinga.com/general/health-care/25/05/45345409/trumps-big-beautiful-bill-banks-on-huge-medicaid-cuts-as-its-cost-saving-centerpiece-see-who-risks-losing-coverage-under-the-gop-proposal">millions are set to lose coverage</a>.

Maxar Space Systems, a trusted partner in satellite design and manufacturing, today announced it has been awarded a contract by EchoStar Corporation (NASDAQ:<a class="ticker" href="https://www.benzinga.com/stock/SATS#NASDAQ">SATS</a>) to manufacture EchoStar XXVI, a high-power geostationary communications satellite based on the Maxar 1300&#x2122; platform.
EchoStar XXVI will deliver robust coverage to DISH TV customers across all 50 U.S. states, including Puerto Rico, and is engineered for dual orbital slot performance, giving EchoStar enhanced operational flexibility to meet evolving customer and network demands.

(NASDAQ:<a class="ticker" href="https://www.benzinga.com/stock/INTC#NASDAQ">INTC</a>) are developing next-generation artificial intelligence memory chips designed to consume half the power of current technology, addressing critical energy challenges in Japan&#8217;s growing data center market.
What Happened: The companies established Saimemory, a joint venture targeting commercialization within the 2020s through a 10 billion yen ($70 million) project, <a href="https://asia.nikkei.com/Business/Tech/Semiconductors/SoftBank-Intel-work-on-AI-memory-chips-that-use-half-as-much-power">reported</a> Nikkei. The initiative focuses on stacked DRAM chips with innovative wiring structures that significantly reduce power consumption compared to existing high-bandwidth memory (HBM).
SoftBank leads the investment with 3 billion yen, while Japan&#8217;s Riken research institute and Shinko Electric Industries are considering participation. The venture leverages Intel&#8217;s technology and patents from the University of Tokyo and other Japanese academic institutions, the report noted.
The project addresses supply chain vulnerabilities as South Korea&#8217;s SK Hynix and Samsung Electronics dominate HBM production. Current HBM technology suffers from low production yields, high costs, and intense energy requirements, creating access challenges for Japanese companies.
&#8220;We want priority for the supply,&#8221; a SoftBank executive said, according to the report, highlighting the strategic importance for the company&#8217;s AI data center plans.
