A pickup truck carefully designed so that the likes of Blade Runner and James Bond <a href="https://www.benzinga.com/news/23/12/36104426/elon-musk-wanted-to-make-a-vehicle-for-the-future-one-that-blade-runner-would-drive">would be proud</a> to drive it could be facing a demand decline that would force changes from Tesla Inc (NASDAQ:<a class="ticker" href="https://www.benzinga.com/stock/TSLA#NASDAQ">TSLA</a>).



What Happened: Tesla CEO Elon Musk had grand ambitions for the Cybertruck<a href="https://www.benzinga.com/analyst-ratings/analyst-color/23/11/36032944/cybertruck-delivery-event-elon-musk-highlights-teslas-best-product-says-finally-the"> with planned production capacity </a>of 250,000 vehicles annually. Millions of people registered for the unique electric pickup truck.



In 2024, an estimated 38,965 Cybertrucks were sold in the U.S.,<a href="https://www.benzinga.com/news/25/01/42986863/us-electric-vehicle-sales-hit-record-1-3-million-units-in-2024-despite-tesla-declines-top-10-bestsel"> ranking fifth </a>among all electric vehicles in the country for the year.



In the first 14 months of availability, around 46,000 Cybertrucks were sold based <a href="https://www.benzinga.com/markets/equities/25/03/44414187/elon-musks-tesla-recalls-over-46000-cybertrucks-due-to-safety-concerns">on recall data.</a>



New data from Tesla suggests the Cybertruck demand could be stalling even more and the company could be selling less than 90% of its original annual goal.



Tesla recently reported its <a href="https://www.benzinga.com/trading-ideas/movers/25/07/46221375/tesla-stock-jumps-on-strong-q2-deliveries">second-quarter delivery figures</a>. The company delivered 384,122 total vehicles in the second quarter. Of this total, the majority fit into the Model 3 and Model Y category. The company's other category, which includes the Model S, Model X, Cybertruck and Tesla Semi had 10,394 deliveries in the second quarter.



Electrek <a href="https://electrek.co/2025/07/02/tesla-confirms-cybertruck-sales-are-down-to-just-5000-units/">estimates </a>that this means around 5,000 Cybertrucks were delivered with international data pointing to around 5,000 Model S and Model X vehicles sold in the quarter.



Tesla had 12,881 deliveries of the Other category in the first quarter, which would likely mean around 5,000 Cybertrucks delivered in that quarter.



Put that together and year-to-date Cybertruck deliveries stand at around 10,000, or 20,000 on an annualized basis. This is 8% of the 250,000 annual target the company was originally aiming for with Musk originally saying 2025 could be the first year of hitting that six-figure milestone.



Reports of weak demand for the Cybertruck, increased inventory of the vehicle on hand and price cuts have been trending topics when looking at the newer Tesla vehicle. The latest sales figures appear to back reports that Cybertruck demand is not where it should have been by now.

Why It's Important: As reported by Electrek, Tesla reported seven straight quarters of 15,000 or more deliveries for its Other vehicles category prior to this year's first quarter. This includes three straight quarters, the second, third and fourth of 2024, with over 20,000 deliveries for the Other vehicles category.



With less than 11,000 Other vehicles delivered in the second quarter, the total is now lower than the first quarter of 2023, which was before the Cybertruck was even available.



An electric pickup truck from Tesla was expected to disrupt the market with pickup trucks one of the top-selling vehicle classes every year in America. Instead, the unique design and high price of the Cybertruck may have pickup truck fans keeping their traditional gas-powered vehicle.



Other automakers have also released electric pickup trucks and could be dipping into Tesla's market share.



Ford Motor Co. (NYSE:<a class="ticker" href="https://www.benzinga.com/stock/F#NYSE">F</a>) has the F-150 Lightning, which had 5,842 deliveries in the second quarter. General Motors Co. (NYSE:<a class="ticker" href="https://www.benzinga.com/stock/GM#NYSE">GM</a>) had 3,056 Silverado EV, 1,524GMC Sierra EV and 4,508 Hummer EV deliveries in the second quarter, according to the report. The Hummer EV total includes both pickup trucks and SUVs.



Rivian Automotive (NASDAQ:<a class="ticker" href="https://www.benzinga.com/stock/RIVN#NASDAQ">RIVN</a>) delivered 10,661 vehicles in the second quarter, but doesn't break out its split between trucks and SUVs.



These companies are all expected to keep the pressure up on Tesla. There is also the upcoming convertible electric pickup truck that can turn into an SUV from Jeff Bezos-backed Slate Auto. Over 100,000 vehicles <a href="https://www.benzinga.com/news/25/05/45381497/jeff-bezos-backed-slate-hit-100k-ev-reservations-in-2-weeks-how-it-compares-to-cybertruck-launch">have been reserved </a>from Slate Auto.



With a current renewed focus on autonomous vehicles and robotaxis, Tesla may have to decide what it wants to do with the Cybertruck and if it will scale back some of the production capacity due to weakened demand.



 TSLA Price Action: Tesla stock trades at $315.36 on Thursday versus a 52-week trading range of $182 to $488.54. Tesla stock is down 16.7% year-to-date in 2025.

Cybertruck Dreams Shatter As Musk's 250K Goal Unravels

Wall Street is basking in record highs as the S&amp;P 500 breaks above 6,300 ahead of the July 4 holiday, but just as traders reach for the champagne, a popular market indicator is <a href="https://www.benzinga.com/trading-ideas/technicals">starting to flash red.</a>



<h2 class="wp-block-heading">S&amp;P 500&#8217;s RSI Enters Overbought Territory: Why It Matters</h2>



The S&amp;P 500&#8217;s 14-day Relative Strength Index (RSI), a momentum oscillator that measures the speed and magnitude of price movements, surged to 75.62 on Wednesday, well into the overbought zone above 70.



The RSI ranges from 0 to 100, and traders use it to gauge whether an asset is overbought or oversold. While it doesn&#8217;t predict direction, history shows it often coincides with key market turning points.



In fact, in several recent cases where the S&amp;P 500's RSI hit similarly overbought levels, the index was soon met with sharp and swift pullbacks.



<ul class="wp-block-list">
<li>July 2024: RSI spiked above 75, and the index dropped 10% from 5,660 to August 6</li>



<li>July 2023: RSI flagged overbought, and the S&amp;P 500 slid 10% through late October</li>



<li>September 2020: RSI hit 83 before a rapid 10% decline that same month. </li>



<li>January 2018: RSI hit climbed to 86 after a 7% rally. The index then plunged 12% in just nine trading days during early February.</li>
</ul>



Still, the RSI is not a crystal ball.



In December 2023, the indicator was also overbought, but the S&amp;P 500 – as tracked by the Vanguard S&amp;P 500 ETF Trust (NYSE:<a class="ticker" href="https://www.benzinga.com/stock/SPY#NYSE">SPY</a>) – kept climbing and added over 15% until April 2024.



Similarly, in December 2019, a reading of 78 did little to slow momentum until COVID-19, a rather unpredictable event, caused the market to crash two months later.



While the RSI's track record shows that overbought conditions can precede sharp pullbacks, it's not a guaranteed signal — especially in a market driven by strong momentum, AI optimism, and resilient economic data. Still, with the S&amp;P 500 at record highs and sentiment running hot, traders may want to keep one eye on the technicals as they celebrate the holiday rally.

The S&P 500 Sank 10% The Last Time This Warning Flashed

The benchmark S&amp;P Aerospace &amp; Defense Select Industry Index&#8217;s year-to-date return for 2025 is reported as 24.3%. Even more astonishing is that the index has basically been flat (down 2%) over the past month.



Just think about what&#8217;s happened over that month: a commitment from NATO members to massively boost defense spending, fighting between Israel and Iran and the <a href="https://www.benzinga.com/news/politics/25/06/46042703/iran-calls-us-bombing-of-nuclear-sites-very-very-dangerous-for-everybody">U.S. bombing</a> of Iran&#8217;s nuclear sites in late June.

&#8220;Recent events, including the conflicts in Iran and Ukraine and the U.S. defense budget&#8217;s surpassing $1 trillion for the first time,&#8221; said Allspring Equity Teams &amp; Investment Analytics Team in comments to Benzinga. &#8220;The scenario reinforces our team&#8217;s fundamental view that: 1) defense spending is a growing budget priority in the U.S. and globally and 2) military superiority is being rapidly redefined by technology.&#8221;



The Allspring Team also believes that any rise in defense stocks should also help the larger market.



&#8220;In the event of escalation, energy and defense stocks may provide a hedge against other segments of the equity market that might be more challenged,&#8221; the firm noted.



Additionally, spending in the global defense sector is expected to reach $2.5 trillion by 2025, surpassing the previous record set in 2024.



&#8220;One key reason for the increase is the continuing war between Russia and Ukraine, which has resulted in increased defense spending by both the European Union and the United States,&#8221; said Andrew Prochnow, analyst-at-large at Tastylive, a streaming platform geared towards options traders. &#8220;Rising tensions in the Middle East have also contributed to this trend.&#8221;



These conflicts have clearly boosted stocks in the sector, as evidenced by the rally in the iShares US Aerospace &amp; Defense ETF (BATS:<a class="ticker" href="https://www.benzinga.com/stock/ITA#BATS">ITA</a>). &#8220;The fund has surged by more than 25% year-to-date, and 40% over the last 52 weeks,&#8221; Prochnow noted.



With defense stocks in play right now, which standout companies make the most sense for investors? While every market maven&#8217;s portfolio goals and strategies are unique, here are three sector stocks that should provide some upbeat returns for investors through the rest of 2025, if not beyond. 



<h2 class="wp-block-heading">Howmet Aerospace</h2>



Pittsburgh, PA-based aerospace and defense firm Howmet Aerospace (NYSE:<a class="ticker" href="https://www.benzinga.com/stock/HWM#NYSE">HWM</a>) has experienced a 9% increase in commercial sector growth and a 19% rise in defense aerospace revenues in the first quarter of 2025. Both trends, particularly the latter, are expected to continue for the rest of the year. 



HWM has some big-name customers, including Boeing (NYSE:<a class="ticker" href="https://www.benzinga.com/stock/BA#NYSE">BA</a>), which uses Howmet&#8217;s parts for its once again rising 737 Max Aircraft. Lockheed Martin (NYSE:<a class="ticker" href="https://www.benzinga.com/stock/LMT#NYSE">LMT</a>) also collaborates with Howmet on its F-35 Lightning fighter jets, with orders for engine spares accumulating. With 143 A-plus rated mutual funds stashing shares of HWM and eight straight quarters of increased fund ownership, take a page out of the fund manager playbook and consider adding Howmet to your portfolio.



<h2 class="wp-block-heading">RTX Corp.</h2>



RTX Corp. (NYSE:<a class="ticker" href="https://www.benzinga.com/stock/RTX#NYSE">RTX</a>), an Arlington, Virginia-based aerospace and defense company, is increasingly popping up on Wall Street charts at the moment.



&#8220;We bought RTX right around the inauguration of this administration, so we have a 12% return on our holding,&#8221; said Alexander Cook, portfolio manager at Optimist Capital. 



RTX is a large, broad-based entity encompassing Collins Aerospace, Pratt &amp; Whitney and Raytheon, which suits Cook just fine. &#8220;We like investments like these even outside of heightened risks,&#8221; he said. &#8220;RTX is a large cap dividend payer and more insulated when markets get overly frothy, we expect to see another 10% on this one over the next 6-9 months.&#8221;



<h2 class="wp-block-heading">CrowdStrike Holdings Inc.</h2>



Cybersecurity plays a crucial role in government and defense, particularly in safeguarding highly sensitive data, both during times of war and in times of peace. CrowdStrike&#8217;s (NASDAQ:<a class="ticker" href="https://www.benzinga.com/stock/CRWD#NASDAQ">CRWD</a>) stock price is $513 per share, but it&#8217;s holding its value, trading up 50% year-to-date. Citing CRWD&#8217;s highly effective AI deployment in key cybersecurity areas, such as cloud, identity and log-scale domains, Wedbush Securities recently boosted the company&#8217;s price target to $575.



&#8220;Defense technology is going to be the best pure growth play going forward,&#8221; Cook said. &#8220;In a modern first-world scenario, boots on the ground are just not realistic.&#8221; He advises investors to view cybersecurity as the new defense. &#8220;Cybersecurity is all about protecting technology and looking for weaknesses in opposing entities rather than building missiles.&#8221;

3 Defense Stocks To Buy With The Middle East In Turmoil

U.S. stocks surged to new record highs on Thursday, with Wall Street celebrating stronger-than-expected labor market data ahead <a href="https://www.benzinga.com/markets/economic-data/25/07/46244105/june-jobs-report-nonfarm-payroll-adp-data">of the July 4 holiday.</a>



The S&amp;P 500 was eyeing 6,300, while the Nasdaq 100 climbed to 22,860. The Dow Jones Industrial Average also rallied, coming close to 44,900 — just shy of its January peak. Small caps joined the rally, with the Russell 2000 up nearly 1%.



Investor sentiment was boosted by June's nonfarm payrolls report, which showed the U.S. economy added 147,000 jobs — well above the 110,000 forecast. The data helped ease concerns stoked by a weak private payroll report just a day earlier.



Tech stocks led the charge, with the so-called Magnificent Seven reaching a combined market cap of $18.1 trillion. NVIDIA Corp. (NASDAQ:<a class="ticker" href="https://www.benzinga.com/stock/NVDA#NASDAQ">NVDA</a>) solidified its lead as the world's most valuable company, surpassing a $3.9 trillion valuation, ahead of Microsoft Corp. (NYSE:<a class="ticker" href="https://www.benzinga.com/stock/MSFT#NYSE">MSFT</a>) at $3.7 trillion.



Gains were broad-based across sectors, with only consumer staples slipping 0.1%. Technology and financials outperformed.



In bond markets, Treasury yields rose for a second straight session. The 30-year yield hit 4.85% as the U.S. Senate-passed "One Big Beautiful Bill" advanced to the House.



The upbeat jobs report also lifted the U.S. dollar. The DXY index gained 0.4%, with traders scaling back expectations for a rate cut in July — now pricing in just a 7% chance, down from 25% the day before.



Commodities came under pressure as the dollar strengthened. Gold fell 0.5%, oil slipped 1% and copper declined 1.1%.



Bitcoin (CRYPTO: <a class="ticker" href="https://www.benzinga.com/quote/btc/usd">BTC</a>) held steady near $109,700.

Wall Street Soars To New Highs, Magnificent 7 Top $18 Trillion: What's Moving Markets Thursday?

The official U.S. jobs report for June delivered a surprisingly sharp turnaround from the gloom triggered by ADP private payroll data <a href="https://www.benzinga.com/markets/economic-data/25/07/46218795/labor-market-payrolls-june-interest-rates">just 24 hours earlier</a>.



Nonfarm payrolls increased by 147,000 in June, the strongest reading so far in 2025, up from an upwardly revised 144,000 in May and well above economists&#8217; expectations of 110,000. 



The unemployment rate dipped to 4.1% from 4.2%, also beating forecasts for a rise to 4.3%. It marks the lowest unemployment rate since January 2025. 



<h3 class="wp-block-heading">Government Hiring Leads The Way, Private Sector Growth Slows </h3>



The largest surprise came from government hiring, which contributed 73,000 new jobs—the highest since March 2024. State governments added 47,000 positions, mostly in education, while local government education continued to rise with a 23,000-job increase. 



The federal government, however, shed 7,000 positions and remains 69,000 jobs below its January 2025 peak.



Private sector hiring was less impressive, with payrolls rising by 74,000—well below expectations of 105,000 and down from May's upwardly revised 134,000. Still, it avoided contraction and stood in contrast to the ADP report, which had shown a 33,000 decline.



Healthcare remained a steady driver, adding 39,000 jobs in June, close to its 12-month average. 



Hospitals and nursing facilities added 16,000 and 14,000 jobs, respectively. Social assistance roles also grew by 19,000, led by individual and family services.



One sign of cooling came from wages. Average hourly earnings rose just 0.2% on the month, down from 0.4% in May and below the 0.3% expected. Year-over-year wage growth eased from 3.8% to 3.7%, undershooting the 3.9% forecast.



Also released Thursday, weekly unemployment claims fell to 233,000 for the week ending June 28, down 4,000 from the prior week and below the 240,000 expected. Continuing claims were slightly above forecasts at 1.694 million. 



<h2 class="wp-block-heading">Market Reactions</h2>



The U.S. dollar jumped after June's stronger-than-expected jobs report, as traders dialed back bets on a July rate cut—just a day after those expectations surged on weak ADP data.



The U.S. dollar index rose 0.5%, while gold tumbled over 1% to 3,315 per ounce. Equity futures saw gains, with contracts on the S&amp;P 500 up 0.2% to 6,285 points. 



On Wednesday the Vanguard S&amp;P 500 ETF (NYSE:<a class="ticker" href="https://www.benzinga.com/stock/VOO#NYSE">VOO</a>) closed at 570.29 points, setting new record highs.

Let&#8217;s start with what&#8217;s working.



I ran my latest scans across the top 425 most liquid optionable stocks (out of tens of thousands) to see who is sitting at their year-to-date highs and who is sitting at the lows.



The winners? They're almost all in tech and exchanges.



Micron (NASDAQ:<a class="ticker" href="https://www.benzinga.com/stock/MU#NASDAQ">MU</a>), Cisco (NASDAQ:<a class="ticker" href="https://www.benzinga.com/stock/CSCO#NASDAQ">CSCO</a>), Robinhood (NASDAQ:<a class="ticker" href="https://www.benzinga.com/stock/HOOD#NASDAQ">HOOD</a>), Paramount (NASDAQ:<a class="ticker" href="https://www.benzinga.com/stock/PARA#NASDAQ">PARA</a>) and Coinbase are all trading at or near their 25-week highs, and they're telling a clear story about where strength is showing up in this market.



We've got semiconductors, legacy tech, disruptive fintech, crypto infrastructure and streaming media all making the list.



That's not random.



MU and CSCO represent two ends of the tech spectrum—one a chipmaker riding the AI and memory boom, the other a networking heavyweight benefiting from increased infrastructure spend. Both are showing signs of quiet accumulation.



HOOD and COIN are riding the same tailwind: a resurgence in retail interest and the rebound in crypto. COIN, in particular, has been a standout. It's already doubled since bottoming out in early April, making it one of the biggest comeback stories in the market right now. That kind of V-shaped move tells me institutional money is quietly stepping back in.



And then there's Paramount. With ongoing rumors and a push toward streaming consolidation, PARA has become a speculative favorite in certain corners of the market.



Now, when you zoom out and look at this group as a whole, there's a clear theme: Capital is flowing back into high-leverage, high-beta names—but it's doing so selectively. This isn't a broad-based rally. It's precise. And it's rotating into names with clear catalysts, strong relative strength and just enough volatility to make the options worth trading.



That's exactly the type of setup I look for.



It's the kind of strength that doesn't happen by accident, the kind that has real momentum behind the crypto comeback. And COIN is acting as a high-beta proxy for Bitcoin itself.



So, let's talk strategy.



When I pulled this data, COIN was trading around $309. The August 310 calls were going for about $31, roughly 10% of the stock price. That&#8217;s a bit rich for a single-leg call.



So, how do we lower cost and risk?



By structuring a call spread. For example, buying the 310 and selling the 320 call could be done for around $5. That cuts your risk nearly in half and sets up a clean 1:1 reward-to-risk ratio if COIN climbs another 10 points. And if you prefer something more aggressive? Using the 330 and 340 calls in this spread instead could cost you as little as $3 and up to $7 in potential upside (although you&#8217;d need a bigger move to get there).



That's how we use the market's pricing inefficiencies to our advantage. But what about the losers?



Tilray (NASDAQ:<a class="ticker" href="https://www.benzinga.com/stock/TLRY#NASDAQ">TLRY</a>), JD.com (NASDAQ:<a class="ticker" href="https://www.benzinga.com/stock/JD#NASDAQ">JD</a>), Lululemon and Luminar (NASDAQ:<a class="ticker" href="https://www.benzinga.com/stock/LAZR#NASDAQ">LAZR</a>) are sitting at the bottom of the pile, each trading at or near their 25-week lows. And while names like Tilray are already so beaten down that further downside may be limited, LULU caught my eye.



This is still an expensive stock, with real room to fall.



After a rough series of earnings, LULU has slipped from over $420 earlier this year to around $227. Even with better-than-expected numbers, the stock has struggled to recover, and that's not a good sign.



So, how do we position ourselves for further weakness?



The 225 puts are going for about $8. But opening a 225/220 put spread would only cost a little over $2. That caps risk, improves breakeven, and still leaves the door open for a potential double.

In fact, Meta ranked first among large-cap peers in free cash flow per employee for 2024, according to Needham's checks. The performance is attributed to META's globally scaled, software-centric business model that runs on free content provided by users and leverages mobile platforms for distribution.&nbsp;



Expert Ideas: Despite these strengths, Martin remained cautious as Meta still faces rapidly rising <a href="https://www.benzinga.com/markets/tech/25/07/46197734/metas-superintelligence-lab-wants-to-outthink-the-world-and-scale-ai-dna-is-all-over-it">capital expenditures</a>—projected to hit $68 billion in 2025, an 84% year-over-year increase—and escalating costs.&nbsp;



The company's aggressive pursuit of high-cost initiatives, including GenAI, Metaverse, Scale AI and <a href="https://www.benzinga.com/markets/tech/25/06/46186013/mark-zuckerberg-once-predicted-that-this-technology-would-replace-your-phone-a-decade-later-how-far-is-meta-from-delivering-on-a-more-natural-future">new hardware</a>, raised concerns about capital allocation and return on investment.&nbsp;

U.S. stock futures were slightly higher on Thursday after a mixed close on Wednesday. Futures of major benchmark indices were trading higher.



The stocks were higher following President Donald Trump&#8216;s announcement of a <a href="https://www.benzinga.com/news/politics/25/07/46239985/peter-schiff-warns-americans-will-suffer-and-vietnamese-will-enjoy-after-trumps-trade-deal-with-hanoi">deal with Vietnam</a> on Thursday in A Truth Social post.



The Nasdaq and New York Stock Exchange will close at 1 p.m. ET on Thursday and stay closed all day Friday. The U.S. bond market will also have an early close at 2 p.m. ET on July 3rd and remain closed on July 4th.



The 10-year Treasury bond yielded 4.25% and the two-year bond was at 3.76%. The CME Group's FedWatch <a href="https://www.cmegroup.com/markets/interest-rates/cme-fedwatch-tool.html">tool</a>&#8216;s projections show markets pricing a 74.7% likelihood of the Federal Reserve keeping the current interest rates unchanged in its July meeting.

Cues From Last Session:



Materials, information technology, and energy stocks led the gains on Wednesday, driving U.S. stocks mostly higher and pushing the S&amp;P 500 to a record high, buoyed by President Donald Trump&#8217;s announcement of a new trade agreement with Vietnam.



Conversely, health care and utilities stocks bucked the trend, finishing the session lower.



On the economic front, the ADP National Employment Report revealed a contraction of 33,000 jobs in the private sector for June 2025, marking the first monthly decline since March 2023.



In corporate news, The Greenbrier Companies, Inc. (NYSE:<a class="ticker" href="https://www.benzinga.com/stock/GBX#NYSE">GBX</a>) shares surged 21% on Wednesday following the release of their stronger-than-expected third-quarter results.

Detrick added that &#8220;All things considered, this is yet another reason to expect better than average returns going forward.&#8221;

However, the senior global strategist at Wells Fargo, Scott Wren, said that &#8220;Our feel is that stocks are ahead of themselves, and we are looking to trim positions in overvalued markets and sectors.&#8221;



Wren explained that most market strategists don't want to see the kind of market volatility the S&amp;P 500 Index has experienced over the past four months.



&#8220;But just when a bit of panic set into the minds of some investors, stocks turned seemingly on a dime and in less than three months gained back all that was lost and then some, setting a new record high to close out last week's trading.&#8221;



He also reiterated that Wells Fargo believes the Wall Street consensus is overly optimistic on the tariff outlook and thus the growth rate in calendar-year 2025.



&#8220;Investors could choose to hold those funds or reinvest in sectors more favorable in our work, which include Technology, Financials, Energy, Utilities, and Communications Services. But stocks are not cheap, and investors might also choose to hold those funds to reinvest if the downside volatility we expect develops,&#8221; he added.

<h3 class="wp-block-heading">S&amp;P 500 May Cool Off—But Not Crash</h3>



In a report shared Tuesday, the investment bank forecasted the S&amp;P 500 — as tracked by the Vanguard S&amp;P 500 ETF (NYSE:<a class="ticker" href="https://www.benzinga.com/stock/VOO#NYSE">VOO</a>) — to finish the year at 6,000, implying a modest 3.5% pullback from current levels around 6,220.



That would still mark a positive year overall, underpinned by a 12% increase in earnings, with further growth expected in 2026.



"The economy and consumers have shown resilience, and corporates delivered healthy pre-Liberation Day growth of 12% despite the implied aggregate tariff rate surpassing 20%," said Dubravko Lakos-Bujas, head of Global Markets Strategy at JP Morgan.



Yet there are reasons for caution. "We remain open to the economy slowing in the second half of this year at a time when valuation is less supportive," he said, noting that the market may repeat the pattern seen in 2023–2024: narrow leadership and high concentration.



<h3 class="wp-block-heading">US Growth Outlook Trimmed, Inflation Risks Rising</h3>



Inflation is expected to heat up again during the summer months. This could push the Fed's next rate cut to December, according to JPMorgan economists.



"We anticipate this [tariff] shock to generate a broad-based downshift in global growth and a rotation in inflation pressures toward the U.S.," said Bruce Kasman, chief economist.

<h3 class="wp-block-heading">Gold Rally Not Over—Could Hit $4,000 By 2026</h3>



Gold's bullish trend is far from over, with JPMorgan forecasting the metal to average $3,675 per ounce in the fourth quarter of 2025 and potentially exceed $4,000 by the second half of 2026.



"For investors, we think gold remains one of the most optimal hedges for the unique combination of stagflation, recession, debasement and U.S. policy risks," said Natasha Kaneva, head of Global Commodities Strategy.



If JPMorgan&#8217;s gold forecast plays out, the SPDR Gold Trust (NYSE:<a class="ticker" href="https://www.benzinga.com/stock/GLD#NYSE">GLD</a>) could climb another 10% by year-end and gain up to 20% more through mid-2026, tracking bullion's surge toward $4,000.



Meanwhile, oil prices are likely to stay subdued due to a growing supply surplus. Kaneva said JPMorgan sees Brent crude trading in the low-to-mid $60s per barrel through the end of the year, barring a severe Middle East escalation.



<h3 class="wp-block-heading">A Weaker Dollar Supports EM Currencies</h3>



JPMorgan remains bearish on the U.S. dollar amid shifting global dynamics. "The main anchors of our bearish USD view remain unchanged," said Meera Chandan, co-head of Global FX Strategy.



Chandan pointed to fading U.S. growth exceptionalism, expensive valuations, and a buildup of liabilities relative to the rest of the world. 



"Several key conditions seem to define the onset of a USD bear cycle&#8230; Plus, past experience indicates that once initiated, dollar bear cycles can persist for a while," she said.



This environment supports emerging market currencies, which are expected to outperform in the second half.
