Dell raised its fiscal year 2026 revenue guidance from a range of $101 billion to $105 billion to a new range of $105 billion to $109 billion versus estimates of $104.59 billion. The company also raised its full-year adjusted earnings guidance from $9.40 to $9.55 per share versus estimates of $9.38 per share.



Dell executives will further discuss the quarter on an earnings call with investors and analysts at 4:30 p.m. ET.

A classic economic indicator just nosedived to levels not seen since the depths of the 2020 pandemic, flashing bright-red signals <a href="https://www.benzinga.com/news/econ-s">about global growth fears. </a>



The copper-to-gold ratio — a widely watched gauge of global economic sentiment — has plunged to 0.0015, its lowest reading since March 2020. This sharp decline suggests investors are losing confidence in the strength of the economic recovery. 



<h3 class="wp-block-heading">Why Does The Copper-To-Gold Ratio Matter?</h3>



This ratio tracks how many pounds of copper you can get for one ounce of gold. 



Copper shines when the economy is expanding. It's used in everything from homes to electronics to infrastructure. Gold, on the other hand, thrives when investors seek safety — typically during economic downturns or geopolitical stress.



Because copper is a bellwether for industrial activity and gold thrives in uncertain environments, a drop in the ratio often implies a loss of confidence in economic momentum. 



When the copper-to-gold ratio falls, it means that gold is outperforming copper — a clear "risk-off" signal. It tends to precede or coincide with major slowdowns. 



The last time this ratio hit such low levels was in early 2020, right as COVID-19 threw the global economy into recession. Before that, such depressed readings were only seen during the 2008 financial crisis.



<h2 class="wp-block-heading">What Caused The Crash In Copper?</h2>



Although copper has climbed 13% in the first half of 2025, volatility erupted quickly after President Donald Trump announced a 50% tariff on imported copper in July. 



Prices initially soared on fears of supply disruptions, hitting record highs. But on July 31, Trump clarified that refined copper would be exempt — sparking a jaw-dropping 22% collapse in a single day.



That was the worst single-day loss for copper ever, more than twice the biggest daily decline suffered during the Great Financial Crisis.



By late August, copper prices were still struggling to recover, holding at $4.52 per pound — a level that reflects ongoing uncertainty around trade policy and industrial demand.



Meanwhile, gold – as tracked by the SPDR Gold Trust (NYSE:<a class="ticker" href="https://www.benzinga.com/stock/GLD#NYSE">GLD</a>) – is having a blockbuster year, outperforming all other major assets. 



Prices have surged 30% year-to-date, with the yellow metal trading near $3,400 per ounce — just 2% off April's record high of $3,500.

<h2 class="wp-block-heading">Gold's Bull Run Isn't Over, Says Expert</h2>



Marcus Garvey, head of commodities strategy at Macquarie, said gold has been remarkably resilient despite not breaking higher over the summer.



Garvey said the political backdrop — especially questions around Federal Reserve independence under the Trump administration — remains a key catalyst for gold.



"If Governor Cook were to leave and Trump were to gain control over key Fed appointments, then the market needs to put a much different risk premium into gold," he said. 



"That would be an extremely bullish development."



Even if U.S. equities continue climbing, Garvey believes gold can rise in tandem — especially if monetary policy becomes too loose relative to inflation risks.



"If stocks are rallying because of excessive Fed easing, and that easing stokes long-term inflation expectations, then gold can absolutely rally alongside equities."

<h2 class="wp-block-heading">Betting on Prediction Markets, Robinhood Stock</h2>



Over the years, Wood and the Ark Invest team<a href="https://www.benzinga.com/general/sports-betting/23/08/34116254/exclusive-cathie-woods-sports-betting-gamble-draftkings-or-penn-entertainment"> have been bullish </a>on DraftKings, citing its near duopoly in the sports betting sector and its ability to fend off competitors in the space.



That thesis could now be changing thanks to prediction markets like Kalshi and Polymarket, as well as the <a href="https://www.benzinga.com/markets/equities/25/08/47324531/robinhood-snubbed-by-sp-500-again-but-cathie-woods-ark-invest-sees-big-upside-in-sports-finance-convergence" target="_blank" rel="noopener">rise of prediction market partnerships</a> with companies like Robinhood Markets (NASDAQ:<a class="ticker" href="https://www.benzinga.com/stock/HOOD#NASDAQ">HOOD</a>).



Kalshi recently added over/under, spread and touchdown betting for NFL games in the 2025 season, <a href="https://www.benzinga.com/news/sports-betting/25/08/47223816/how-kalshi-is-shaking-up-draftkings-fanduel-this-nfl-season">increasing the ways </a>that consumers on the platform can wager on NFL outcomes similar to online sportsbooks.



Robinhood also announced the launch of prediction markets for NFL games and NCAA Football games for the Power 4 conferences (ACC, Big Ten, Big 12, SEC).



 "Robinhood could turbocharge the convergence between sports and financial markets," Ark Invest recently said in an email.



"Robinhood's prediction markets function more like tradable financial contracts than sports bets," Ark Invest's Nick Grous said.



Grous said DraftKings operates in 25 states and Washington, D.C., and needs regulatory approval in each state to launch, adding friction between operators and consumers.



"Robinhood and DraftKings have different economic models. Robinhood charges a flat $0.02 per contract traded, with transparent fees and outcomes based on market probabilities. In contrast, DraftKings and other sportsbooks embed their margin in the odds -typically between 4-6%," he said.



Grous added Robinhood is giving consumers lower fees and broader access.



The 2025 NFL season could show that prediction markets have disrupted the segment or keep growth of new customers lower, or lead to higher promotional marketing spending as sportsbooks fight off the competition.



Robinhood is a top 10 holding in ARKK, ARKW, and ARKF, with Ark already investing in the company as a firm believer in the future of cryptocurrency. The stock now provides Ark with an opportunity to capitalize on the growth of cryptocurrency and prediction markets as the company reduces its exposure to DraftKings along the way.

KeyBanc: Data Center segment revenue missing estimates was one of the key takeaways from the earnings report for Vinh.



Vinh highlighted the company's guidance, which doesn't include shipments to China.



"F3Q guidance is solidly above," Vinh said.



Management estimates between $2 billion to $5 billion of H20 inventory shipped to China "if geopolitical issues dissipate."



"NVDA continues to see a ~$50B China market TAM this year, with expectations for ~50% annual growth thereafter."



Wedbush: Robust demand for Blackwell shows Nvidia's position in the AI sector, Ives said in a new investor note.



"With all eyes on the Street watching, the Godfather of AI Jensen and Nvidia delivered another robust quarter," Ives said.



Nvidia's guidance was stronger than expected with "demand continuing to outstrip supply for the new oil and gold of the AI revolution,&#8221; Ives said.



Nvidia also beat expectations with no shipments to China in the quarter. The company has supply ready to be shipped to China "when the current geopolitical situation clears up," Ives added.



Ives highlighted the company's goal of 50% growth in China.



"This speaks to the massive eye-popping opportunity coming out of China for Nvidia with a new pay for play model reopening the all-important China market for Nvidia."



Ives said Nvidia is the "only game in town fueling this 4th Industrial Revolution" with the company on their way to a $5 trillion market capitalization by early 2026.



JPMorgan: The ramp of Blackwell and Networking strength highlighted the second quarter results. H20 upside is likely coming, Sur says.



"We see a sufficient ramp in the supply chain for Blackwell/Blackwell Ultra rack volumes to comfortably support the incremental ~$5B of Compute revenue implied by NVDA's guide," Sur said.



The analyst said Nvidia's demand continues to outstrip supply.



"The playbook remains the same here for NVDA – a solid beat and raise with multiple levers at play to drive upside."



Rosenblatt: The second quarter showed robust demand for Nvidia units, Cassidy said in a new investor note.



Cassidy highlighted Nvidia's Networking revenue up 46% quarter-over-quarter and up 98% year-over-year. The analyst also highlighted the company's product map being on track into fiscal 2027.



"We see this annual road map as important for coordinating the next leap in compute performance with large customers' plans for new data centers," Cassidy said.



Goldman Sachs: The second quarter saw in-line results against elevated estimates, Schneider said in a new investor note.



"We see meaningful upside heading into 2026," Schneider said.



The analyst highlighted the company's diversifying revenue with sovereign customers expected to be a $20 billion revenue opportunity this year, more than double the 2024 amount.



Needham: The ramp of Blackwell and the belief that Rubin is on track for deployment in the second half of 2026 are highlights for Bolton from the quarterly results.



"As Rubin will be the company's 3rd generation NVLink scale AI supercomputer, the company anticipates to have a stronger supply chain" Bolton said.



The analyst highlights Nvidia stock having an attractive valuation, favorable risk/reward profile and superior balance sheet.



"We believe data center, the end-market that we view as NVDA's biggest growth engine, is experiencing a recovery as hyperscaler sales have ramped the past few quarters."



Benchmark: A strong Blackwell ramp helps offset modest upside and high expectations with no China revenue in guidance, Acree said.



"We view NVDA's results as encouraging and consistent with its expected growth drivers across the AI infrastructure landscape," Acree said.



Acree said Street estimates had become "overly optimistic" recently, making 56% year-over-year growth seem "somewhat disappointing."



"We believe NVDA deserves to trade with a forward multiple at some level relative to its earnings growth rate, which we're expecting to be 50% and 43%, respectively in FY26 &amp; FY27."



The analyst said the second quarter results show that there is no slowdown in AI interest or investments.



Cantor Fitzgerald: When it comes to investing in Nvidia's earnings and guidance, "don't worry about a thing," Muse said.



The analyst said Nvidia is sold out of Blackwell.



"Very importantly, the Blackwell Ultra ramp is just getting started, and we continue to see NVDA on a path to ship 5.5M GPUs in CY25," Muse said.



The analyst said Nvidia continues to be the platform of choice for AI.



Price Action: Nvidia stock is down 0.9% to $179.92 on Thursday versus a 52-week trading range of $86.62 to $184.48. Nvidia stock is up 30.1% year-to-date in 2025.

The S&amp;P 500 extended its spectacular rally to fresh record highs on Thursday, even as its most influential stock, Nvidia Corp. (NASDAQ:<a class="ticker" href="https://www.benzinga.com/stock/NVDA#NASDAQ">NVDA</a>), failed to impress with<a href="https://www.benzinga.com/analyst-stock-ratings/analyst-color/25/08/47391158/nvidia-q2-guidance-shows-demand-outstrips-supply-for-new-oil-and-gold-of-ai-revolution"> its latest quarterly results.</a>



Large-cap benchmarks remain on track for a third straight day of gains, with both the S&amp;P 500 and the Dow Jones Industrial Average hitting record territory. The tech-heavy Nasdaq 100, however, is still trailing about 1.5% below the all-time peak set last month.



Despite Nvidia's 1% drop, the broader tech sector held firm, signaling underlying market strength now powered by a wider range of companies.

S&P 500 Breaks New Records But Nvidia Misses The Party: What's Moving Markets Thursday?

The U.S. economy returned to form in the second quarter, growing at a 3.3% annualized pace —a sharp turnaround from the sluggish first quarter, which saw a 0.5% contraction as businesses scrambled to navigate the return of tariffs <a href="https://www.benzinga.com/topic/donald-trump">under President Donald Trump.</a>



Thursday's report from the Bureau of Economic Analysis showed the economy not only grew but also slightly outpaced the initial estimate of 3.1%, boosted by better-than-expected consumer spending and private investment.



That makes it the strongest quarterly expansion since the third quarter of 2023 and a clear sign that economic activity is normalizing after a rocky start to the year.



One of the key drivers of the rebound was a sharp reversal in trade-related distortions. The U.S. trade deficit in goods shrank dramatically to $85.88 billion in June, nearly halving from the March level, when companies rushed to front-load imports before sweeping tariffs announced in April took effect.



The rebalancing helped stabilize GDP after first quarter's figures were dragged down by a record-high trade deficit. Imports, which subtract from GDP calculations, had surged earlier in the year but cooled in the second quarter, allowing domestic demand to shine through.



In a separate release, the Department of Labor reported that initial jobless claims decreased to 229,000 last week, down 5,000 from the previous period and slightly better than expected. Continuing claims also fell to 1.954 million.



<h2 class="wp-block-heading">Consumers increase spending, businesses return to profits</h2>



Real consumer spending rose 1.6%, up from just 0.5% in the first quarter, as Americans continued to support the economy through strong demand for services and durable goods. 



The GDP sales component, which strips out inventory changes and trade, jumped 6.8%—a sharp reversal from Q1's 3.1% decline.



Corporate profits increased by 2% to $3.266 trillion, following a 3.3% drop in the previous quarter. Undistributed profits climbed 6.7%, while net cash flow improved by 4.8%, suggesting companies are still rebuilding buffers.

Stock index futures showed modest gains in early trading, with S&amp;P 500 futures up 0.13%, Dow Jones futures rising 0.23% and Nasdaq 100 futures adding 0.16%. 



Shares of Nvidia Corp. (NASDAQ:<a class="ticker" href="https://www.benzinga.com/stock/NVDA#NASDAQ">NVDA</a>) dipped 0.3% in the premarket. The chipmaker delivered stronger-than-expected earnings, yet investors appeared cautious in response to its slightly better-than-forecast guidance. 



In the metals market, gold inched up 0.1% to $3,401.62 per troy ounce, while silver advanced 1.1% to $39.01.

Best Buy Co Inc (NYSE:<a class="ticker" href="https://www.benzinga.com/stock/BBY#NYSE">BBY</a>) reported second-quarter 2026 adjusted earnings of $1.28 per share on Thursday, beating the <a target="_blank" href="https://www.benzinga.com/calendars/earnings" rel="noreferrer noopener">consensus of $1.21</a>.



Sales <a target="_blank" href="https://www.benzinga.com/pressreleases/25/08/b47380433/best-buy-reports-second-quarter-results" rel="noreferrer noopener">increased slightly</a> by 1.6% year over year to $9.44 billion, beating the consensus of $9.24 billion.



&#8220;The sales growth resulted in a better-than-expected Q2 adjusted operating income rate,&#8221; said Matt Bilunas, Best Buy CFO. &#8220;Our SG&amp;A expense was as expected, and we saw some gross profit rate mix pressure from the strong growth in gaming and computing.&#8221;



Best Buy&#8217;s second-quarter comparable sales increased 1.6%. &#8220;We delivered comparable sales growth of 1.6% in the second quarter, our highest growth in three years,&#8221; said Corie Barry, Best Buy CEO.

Domestic online revenue of $2.86 billion increased 5.1% on a comparable basis.

Best Buy <a target="_blank" href="https://www.benzinga.com/news/earnings/25/05/45669267/best-buy-whiffs-on-sales-earnings-tariff-pressures-mount" rel="noreferrer noopener">reaffirmed fiscal 2026</a> adjusted earnings per share guidance of $6.15-$6.30 versus consensus of $6.17.



The company sees sales of $41.10 billion-$41.90 billion versus the consensus of $41.41 billion.



The company expects the 2026 comparable sales growth range of 1.0% decline to 1.0% growth.



&#8220;For Q3, we expect comparable sales growth to be similar to what we just delivered in Q2 and the adjusted operating income rate to be similar to last year&#8217;s Q3 3.7% rate,&#8221; continued Bilunas.



&#8220;Given the uncertainty of potential tariff impacts in the back half, both on consumers overall as well as our business, we feel it is prudent to maintain the annual guidance we provided last quarter. At this point, we do believe we are trending toward the higher end of our sales range,&#8221; Bilunas said on Thursday.

Crude oil futures were trading lower in the early New York session by 0.51% to hover around $63.82 per barrel.



Gold Spot US Dollar rose 0.10% to hover around $3,400.96 per ounce. Its last record high stood at $3,500.33 per ounce. The U.S. Dollar Index spot was 0.15% lower at the 98.0850 level.



Asian markets ended higher on Thursday, except India&#8217;s S&amp;P BSE Sensex, Hong Kong's Hang Seng indices. China&#8217;s CSI 300, Australia's ASX 200, Japan's Nikkei 225, and South Korea's Kospi indices rose. European markets were also mostly higher in early trade.

Stock Market Today: Nvidia Drags Down Nasdaq Futures, Dow Trades Higher—Dollar General, Dell, Best Buy In Focus (UPDATED)

MongoDB Inc (NASDAQ:<a class="ticker" href="https://www.benzinga.com/stock/MDB#NASDAQ">MDB</a>) shares are soaring Wednesday after the company reported better-than-expected financial results for the second quarter and raised its fiscal 2026 guidance. Multiple analysts also lifted price targets <a href="https://www.benzinga.com/markets/earnings/25/08/47345717/mongodb-stock-soars-on-strong-q2-earnings-beat-raised-guidance">following the print</a>. 



What To Know: MongoDB beat analyst estimates on the top and bottom lines in the second quarter, reporting revenue of $591.4 million versus estimates of $552.46 million, and adjusted earnings per share of $1 versus estimates of 66 cents.



MongoDB said it has added over 5,000 customers year-to-date. The company generated $72.1 million of cash from operations and $69.9 million in free cash flow during the quarter. MongoDB ended the period with $2.3 billion in total cash, cash equivalents, short-term investments and restricted cash. 



The company also issued strong guidance for the third quarter and raised its full-year outlook above estimates. MongoDB said it expects third-quarter revenue to be between $587 million and $592 million versus <a href="http://pro.benzinga.com">Benzinga Pro</a> estimates of $582.43 million. The company sees adjusted earnings of 76 cents to 79 cents versus estimates of 71 cents. 



MongoDB now expects full-year revenue of $2.34 billion to $2.36 billion versus estimates of $2.29 billion, and full-year adjusted earnings of $3.64 to $3.73 per share versus estimates of $3.10 per share. 



&#8220;MongoDB delivered strong&nbsp;second quarter&nbsp;results across the board, highlighted by Atlas revenue growth accelerating to&nbsp;29%&nbsp;and adding over 5,000 customers year-to-date, the highest ever in the first half of the year. We also delivered meaningful margin outperformance as we executed on our plan to drive profitable growth,&#8221; said&nbsp;Dev Ittycheria, president and CEO of MongoDB.



Analyst Changes: Several analyst firms raised price targets and maintained positive ratings following the company&#8217;s quarterly results, which is adding to the momentum in shares.
