Guidance: Danaher reaffirms that in fiscal year 2024, non-GAAP core revenue will be down in the low single digits year over year.
The company forecasts that 2024 bioprocessing core revenue will decline in the low single digits, and Cepheid 2024 respiratory revenues will be around&nbsp;$1.7 billion compared to prior guidance of $1.6 billion.
William Blair reports that Danaher&#8217;s third-quarter earnings aligned with expectations, particularly regarding the ongoing recovery in bioprocessing, though capital expenditures remain weak.
The analyst highlights that the recovery theme is progressing as anticipated, with results reflecting similar trends seen in industry conference updates earlier in the quarter.
Third-quarter book-to-bill improved to approximately 1.0x, up from 0.80x a year ago, and a high-single-digit increase in sequential orders further supported the bioprocessing rebound.
In the equipment segment, life sciences instruments saw a mid-single-digit decline, in line with forecasts and intra-quarter observations.
Meanwhile, diagnostics performed well, and Cepheid&#8217;s respiratory revenue again exceeded expectations.
On guidance, management expects mid- to high-single-digit core growth in the fourth quarter in Biotechnology. The analyst expects the focus of the call will be on the fourth-quarter exit rate for bioprocessing, any initial insights into 2025, capital equipment weakness, and updated thoughts on China.
William Blair keeps the Outperform rating. Goldman Sachs maintains a Neutral rating,<a href="https://www.benzinga.com/quote/dhr/analyst-ratings"> with a price target of $250.</a>

Danaher's Q3 Earnings Boosted By Bioprocessing Order Growth, Analyst Maintain Stock Rating

Jefferies analyst John Colantuoni has raised price targets on Uber Technologies, Inc. (NYSE:<a class="ticker" href="https://www.benzinga.com/stock/UBER#NYSE">UBER</a>) and Lyft, Inc. (NASDAQ:<a class="ticker" href="https://www.benzinga.com/stock/LYFT#NASDAQ">LYFT</a>) ahead of earnings in the coming weeks. Here&#8217;s what <a href="https://www.benzinga.com/analyst-stock-ratings">you need to know</a>.
Jefferies On UBER: Colantuoni maintained a Buy rating on Uber on Tuesday and raised the price target from $100 to $105.
Colantuoni&#8217;s expectations for Uber&#8217;s <a href="https://www.benzinga.com/calendars/earnings">upcoming earnings report</a> remain high, as he believes the company is somewhat shielded from macroeconomic trends due to its skew toward high-income customers. 
In addition, the analyst anticipates strong EBITDA and ride bookings results, which he believes will enhance confidence in the company&#8217;s ability to achieve its three-year outlook and justify a higher multiple. 
In the company&#8217;s most recent quarter, Uber guided for adjusted EBITDA of $1.58 billion to $1.68 billion and gross bookings between $40.25 billion and $41.75 billion for the third quarter. 
Colantuoni also noted that he&#8217;s on the lookout for further insights into the company&#8217;s autonomous vehicle partnerships. The analyst anticipates a renewed focus on Uber&#8217;s fundamentals following Tesla&#8217;s &#8220;underwhelming&#8221; robotaxi event.

Uber is due to report earnings for the third quarter on Oct. 31. Analysts expect Uber to report EPS of 39 cents and revenue of $10.97 billion, according to estimates from <a href="http://pro.benzinga.com">Benzinga Pro</a>.
Jefferies On LYFT: Colantuoni maintained a Hold rating on Lyft and raised the price target from $10.50 to $13.
Lyft is scheduled to report earnings on Nov. 6. The company is expected to report EPS of 19 cents and revenue of $1.44 billion for the third quarter, according to <a href="http://pro.benzinga.com">Benzinga Pro</a> estimates.
Colantuoni said he will be watching for evidence that Lyft can maintain market share over time, especially after the company issued &#8220;aggressive&#8221; three-year targets at its Investor Day earlier this year.
&#8220;We believe the market will otherwise remain skeptical of a 3-year outlook that assumes limited pricing growth and implies Gross Margin expansion is dependent on increased Media penetration (and lower incentives) to offset insurance inflation, despite mobility advertising being relatively nascent,&#8221; the analyst said.
Lyft&#8217;s guidance for the third-quarter included expected gross bookings of $4 billion to $4.1 billion and adjusted EBITDA between $90 million and $95 million. Colantuoni said he will also be watching for bookings and EBITDA guidance moving forward, mobility trends and pricing, marketing spend, impacts of insurance renewals and any robotaxi commentary.
Price Action: At the time of writing, Lyft stock was down 1.92% at $13.77 and Uber stock was down 0.11% at $80.27, according to data from <a href="https://www.benzinga.com/pro/">Benzinga Pro</a>.

Jefferies Raises Targets On Uber, Lyft Shares Ahead Of Q3 Earnings

After lawmakers in Ireland <a href="https://www.marijuanamoment.net/irelands-government-proposes-nine-month-delay-on-marijuana-legalization-bill-vote-calling-for-special-committee/">delayed a vote on marijuana legalization earlier this year</a> in favor of further studying the issue, a special legislative committee on drug policy has published an interim report with nearly 60 recommendations, calling for changes such as the limited legalization of marijuana and the decriminalization of personal use and possession of all illegal drugs.
The new report, released on Tuesday, is the product of the Oireachtas Joint Committee on Drugs Use, which was formed to consider cannabis legalization and other drug policy issues following the release of a <a href="https://www.marijuanamoment.net/as-irish-lawmakers-prepare-to-debate-marijuana-bill-prime-minister-pledges-to-examine-drug-decriminalization-as-recommended-by-citizen-commission/">citizen commission report in January that recommended broadly decriminalizing drugs</a>&nbsp;and implementing harm reduction programs.
Gino Kenny, the chair of the committee and a member of Ireland's lower house of parliament, <a href="https://www.irishexaminer.com/news/arid-41501180.html">told</a> Irish Examiner that the proposal could allow cannabis clubs where members can purchase small amounts of marijuana grown on a nonprofit basis, which <a href="https://www.marijuanamoment.net/german-officials-approve-countrys-first-marijuana-social-club-since-legalization-took-effect/">some other European countries permit</a>, but may also allow for broader commercial legalization.
"It's important that this is implemented," Kenny told the paper, emphasizing his perspective that the government should adopt a "health-led approach" to drug use.

Indeed, many of the 59 recommendations from the special committee focus on shifting the paradigm around drug control from one of punishment and stigma to one of health and harm reduction. That's the core of the first six recommendations laid out in the committee's description of its interim report, which includes findings that "the stigmatisation of drug use and the shaming of drug users are a source of significant harm" and that "the goal of drug policy should be to reduce harm and eliminate stigma."
To that end, it says, "the decriminalization of possession for personal use should apply equally to all illicit drugs." And while "people should be offered all supports and health resources that are required," it adds, "no person should be criminalised for not availing of a supportive intervention."
When it comes to marijuana, the committee is calling on health and justice officials to "undertake a body of research into how a regulated drug market could operate in Ireland beginning with cannabis, and how Ireland can incorporate and implement the learnings of other jurisdictions that have taken positive steps in this regard."
The report specifies that the country should consider reforms "with particular reference to Spain, Malta, and Germany in the development of an Irish not for profit regulated cannabis market."
The body is also calling for expansion of the country's medical marijuana program "to ensure that more people affected by chronic illness can access cannabis in circumstances where other treatments have failed to relieve symptoms."
The recommendations also advise that local authorities and An Garda Síochána—the country's national police force—"are supported and empowered in strongly discouraging and reducing consumption in public areas." The committee suggested that "specific trauma and harm reduction training be provided to An Garda Síochána and local authorities, to inform their work with individuals and communities affected by drug misuse and addiction."
Kenny, the committee chair, noted that the body's <a href="https://www.oireachtas.ie/en/press-centre/press-releases/20241022-joint-committee-on-drugs-use-publishes-interim-report-with-59-recommendations/">recommendations</a> are "very clear that the supply and sale of drugs should remain illegal" and acknowledged that drugs can cause "huge damage" to individuals, families and communities, especially among already disadvantaged groups. But he said the committee was in broad agreement that criminalizing substances is the wrong approach.
"There's still a lot to look at of course, but between the work done by the Committee and the Citizens' Assembly, it's clear that there is a consensus that criminalising and prosecuting the use of drugs for personal drug use is a waste of money and is very detrimental to anyone convicted," he said in a statement.
After months of study, he added, "there's no excuse for a new Government to say that issues around the decriminalisation of drugs for personal use haven't been discussed properly. Both the Citizens' Assembly and the Oireachtas Joint Committee on Drugs Use have looked at the issue in detail."
When the committee was first being formed, Ryan McHale, executive committee member of the Irish drug policy reform organization Crainn, told Marijuana Moment that he felt the extra step was a "delay tactic from the Irish Government," which he called "disappointing given the clear calls from the Citizens' Assembly and overwhelming public support for the measure."
"The government are aware of the overwhelming support which is why they didn't outright oppose the bill like they did in 2013, which was the last attempt to liberalize cannabis laws," McHale said. "While there appears to be a shift from government in terms of changing Ireland's drug laws, they have not yet committed to any substantial legal change."
"This delay will mean that hundreds of people will be criminalized for personal possession of cannabis while the Irish government ponder the political effectiveness of reform," he added. "We cannot wait anymore and the Citizens' Assembly have been clear in their calls for change to the harmful status quo."
TD Paul Murphy said the government's proposed delay is "simply an attempt to kick the can down the road."
"They talk about a health led approach to drugs," he said. "Now it's time to walk the walk."
The cannabis legalization bill from Kenny that prompted the committee's formation was first introduced in 2022.
Ireland's taoiseach—or prime minister—Leo Varadkar <a href="https://www.marijuanamoment.net/as-irish-lawmakers-prepare-to-debate-marijuana-bill-prime-minister-pledges-to-examine-drug-decriminalization-as-recommended-by-citizen-commission/">told lawmakers earlier this year that he agrees prohibition doesn't work</a>, as evidenced by prohibition periods in Ireland that created illicit markets with "impure" alcohol products.
"In my view, drug use and misuse by individuals should be seen primarily as a public health issue and not a criminal justice matter," Varadkar said. "I certainly think that shaming people and blaming people and criminalizing people isn't an effective policy."
The Citizens' Assembly on Drugs Use considered marijuana legalization as part of its work last year, but a <a href="https://www.marijuanamoment.net/irish-citizens-panel-votes-to-recommend-decriminalizing-drug-possession-but-marijuana-legalization-falls-one-vote-short/">recommendation to enact the reform came up short by one vote</a>.
A year ago, the citizens' group posted summaries of 36 policy recommendations online—the culmination of what the body's chair, Paul Reid, called "the most comprehensive, wide-ranging, and representative discussion on all aspects of drugs use and drugs policy that has ever taken place in Ireland."
The group's overarching message, Reid said in a statement at the time, was that lawmakers must "take a much more ambitious and progressive approach to dealing with drugs in Ireland."
"Ultimately, it will be up to the Oireachtas to implement what the Assembly has called for," he said, referring to Ireland's national parliament. "But if they do, this will not only change the national policy and approach, it will also change people's lives. For the better."

"Legislative Committee In Ireland Calls For Marijuana Legalization And Decriminalization Of 'All Illicit Drugs'" - Marijuana Moment

Netflix Inc (NASDAQ:<a class="ticker" href="https://www.benzinga.com/stock/NFLX#NASDAQ">NFLX</a>) shares are trading higher by 9% to $765.66 over the past week. The stock hit a new 52-week high after last week reporting better-than-expected <a href="https://www.benzinga.com/analyst-ratings/analyst-color/24/10/41406623/netflix-should-continue-to-outperform-6-analysts-on-streaming-stocks-q3-earnings">third-quarter financial results</a> and 14.4% growth in global streaming paid memberships.
Additionally, according to an earlier WSJ report, Netflix has closed its Southern California game studio, Team Blue, just under a year after its establishment, signaling a major change in the <a href="https://www.benzinga.com/general/gaming/24/10/41462659/netflix-ends-aaa-game-development-at-california-studio">company&#8217;s gaming strategy</a> following the exit of key executives.
What Happened With Earnings: Netflix saw its stock soar to new all-time highs last week following the release of its impressive third-quarter financial results after market close on Thursday. 
The streaming giant reported revenue of $9.825 billion, reflecting a 15% year-over-year increase and surpassing analysts' expectations of $9.769 billion. Additionally, the company achieved EPS of $5.40, beating the consensus estimate of $5.12.
As of the end of September, Netflix boasted 282.72 million global paid subscribers, up 14.4% from the previous year. The addition of 5.07 million new subscribers during the quarter, while lower than last year's 8.8 million, still underscores the company&#8217;s ongoing appeal in a competitive market. Subscriber engagement also remained strong, with members averaging approximately two hours of viewing per day.

Notably, Netflix&#8217;s ad-supported subscription model showed promise, with membership increasing by 35% quarter-over-quarter and accounting for over 50% of new sign-ups. The company plans to enhance its ad-tech offerings, aiming for a broader rollout in 2025.
What Else: Looking ahead, Netflix projected fourth-quarter revenue of $10.128 billion, a 14.7% increase year-over-year, and an EPS of $4.23, compared to $2.11 in the same period last year.

The company also provided a bullish long-term outlook, forecasting revenue between $43 billion and $44 billion by 2025.
