U.S. stock futures were swinging on Monday following Friday&#8217;s mixed close. Futures of major benchmark indices were mixed.



Ahead of the Federal Reserve's key vote on interest rates this week, the Justice Department has made a fresh attempt to <a href="https://www.benzinga.com/markets/macro-economic-events/25/09/47659912/trumps-firing-fed-governor-lisa-cook-for-cause-not-subject-to-judicial-second-guess">stay a lower court&#8217;s injunction</a> blocking President Donald Trump's firing of Fed Governor Lisa Cook. 



The investors will eye the key decision by the Federal Reserve to cut interest rates on Wednesday, in the Federal Open Market Committee meeting beginning on Tuesday.



The 10-year Treasury bond yielded 4.07% and the two-year bond was at 3.56%. The CME Group's FedWatch <a href="https://www.cmegroup.com/markets/interest-rates/cme-fedwatch-tool.html">tool&#8217;</a>s projections show markets pricing a 100% likelihood of the Federal Reserve cutting the current interest rates for the Sept. 17 decision.

The SPDR S&amp;P 500 ETF Trust (NYSE:<a class="ticker" href="https://www.benzinga.com/stock/SPY#NYSE">SPY</a>) and Invesco QQQ Trust ETF (NASDAQ:<a class="ticker" href="https://www.benzinga.com/stock/QQQ#NASDAQ">QQQ</a>), which track the S&amp;P 500 index and Nasdaq 100 index, respectively, were mixed in premarket on Monday. The SPY was up 0.093% at $658.02, while the QQQ declined 0.058% to $586.32, according to <a href="https://pro.benzinga.com/dashboard">Benzinga Pro</a> data.

Industrials, health care, and materials stocks recorded the biggest losses on Friday, leading most sectors on the S&amp;P 500 to a negative close. Consumer discretionary and utilities stocks, however, bucked the overall market trend by closing higher. This divergence led to U.S. stocks settling mixed.



Despite Friday&#8217;s divergence, all three major U.S. equity benchmarks gained last week, with the S&amp;P 500 notching its best weekly performance since August and the Dow adding around 1%.



Adobe Inc. (NASDAQ:<a class="ticker" href="https://www.benzinga.com/stock/ADBE#NASDAQ">ADBE</a>) posted better-than-expected third-quarter results and raised its fiscal 2025 outlook, while IBEX Ltd. On the economic front, the University of Michigan consumer sentiment declined to 55.4 in September from 58 in August, and compared to market estimates of 58.



The Dow Jones index ended 274 points or 0.59% lower at 45,834.22, whereas the S&amp;P 500 index fell 0.048% to 6,584.29. Nasdaq Composite advanced 0.44% to 22,141.10, and the small-cap gauge, Russell 2000, tumbled 1.01% to end at 2,397.06.

According to the latest American Association of Individual Investors (AAII) Sentiment Survey, bearish views on the stock market&#8217;s six-month outlook surged to 49.5% for the week. This marks a significant jump from the previous week&#8217;s 43.4% and represents a peak in negative sentiment not seen in four months.



This growing sense of unease comes even as major equity benchmarks have recently posted gains. The S&amp;P 500, for instance, recorded its best weekly performance since August just last week. However, bullish sentiment has been on a steady decline since early July, with only 28% of investors now expressing a positive outlook, a figure well below the historical average.

As the Federal Reserve prepares for its first interest rate cut of 2025 this Wednesday, market analysis from Apollo Global Management, highlighted by The Kobeissi Letter, raises concerns of a potential repeat of 1970s-style inflation.



The Fed is expected to justify the rate cut by citing a weakening labor market. However, Apollo&#8217;s research points to a troubling parallel between current core CPI trends and the inflationary patterns of the 1970s and early 1980s.

Nvidia Stock Falls Nearly 3% In Monday Pre-Market: What's Going On?

Tesla Inc.'s (NASDAQ:<a class="ticker" href="https://www.benzinga.com/stock/TSLA#NASDAQ">TSLA</a>) Gigafactory near Berlin in Germany has said that it would adjust its production figures, anticipating a surge in demand during the third and fourth quarters of the year.

The news was shared by Tesla's head of production in Germany, André Thierig, on Sunday outside the Gigafactory in Grünheide outside Berlin in a statement to local news agency Deutsche Presse-Agentur (DPA), cited by Reuters. "We currently have very good sales figures and have therefore revised our production plans for the third and fourth quarters upwards," Thierig said.



Thierig also said that the company has received "positive signals" from the various markets the factory supplies to. It's worth noting that the factory serves over 37 markets across the globe, including Europe, the Middle East and Taiwan.

Michael Saylor may now seem comfortable with the rise and adoption of the broader crypto ecosystem, but just over a year ago, he was every bit the staunch Bitcoin (CRYPTO: <a class="ticker" href="https://www.benzinga.com/quote/btc/usd">BTC</a>) maximalist.



At the time, he dismissed the likes of Ethereum (CRYPTO: <a class="ticker" href="https://www.benzinga.com/quote/eth/usd">ETH</a>), Solana (CRYPTO: <a class="ticker" href="https://www.benzinga.com/quote/sol/usd">SOL</a>) and XRP (CRYPTO: <a class="ticker" href="https://www.benzinga.com/quote/xrp/usd">XRP</a>), predicting that Wall Street would never accept anything beyond Bitcoin.

During the MicroStrategy World: Bitcoin for Corporations event in May 2024, Saylor said that no other token is going to achieve institutional acceptance this decade.

However, Saylor was proven remarkably wrong. 



Not only were <a href="https://www.benzinga.com/markets/cryptocurrency/24/05/39024913/ethereum-etf-approval-to-spur-a-basket-of-crypto-tokens-within-a-year-says-td-cowen">spot Ethereum ETFs approved</a> by the SEC later that month, but the momentum for similar investment products tied to other altcoins also accelerated, boosted by the arrival of a<a href="https://www.benzinga.com/crypto/cryptocurrency/25/09/47466393/trumps-crypto-advisors-push-sec-and-cftc-to-unite-and-streamline-digital-asset-regulation"> pro-cryptocurrency administration</a> under President Donald Trump.



Since listing, the nine ETH ETFs have together attracted $12.84 billion in net inflows and $27.73 billion in total assets, <a href="https://sosovalue.com/assets/etf/us-eth-spot">according </a>to data from SoSo Value. 



Moreover, several spot ETF applications centered around <a href="https://www.benzinga.com/topic/solana-etf">Solana</a>, <a href="https://www.benzinga.com/etfs/sector-etfs/25/06/46024346/xrp-next-big-etf-bet-polymarket-bettors-predict">XRP </a>and even Dogecoin (CRYPTO: <a class="ticker" href="https://www.benzinga.com/quote/doge/usd">DOGE</a>) have been filed with the SEC. Big-ticket financial names, such as Grayscale, 21Shares and Fidelity, have thrown their hat in the ring.



Additionally, the cryptocurrency treasury play popularized by Saylor&#8217;s firm has quickly spread to other coins. According to <a href="https://www.coingecko.com/en/treasuries/solana">CoinGecko</a>, more than $15 billion in ETH has been purchased by companies for their corporate treasuries, while SOL-focused firms have invested nearly $1.4 billion.



With things changing quickly around him, Saylor has taken a more accommodating view. During an interview last month, he said that the growing treasury interest in ETH and other cryptocurrencies is &#8220;good for everybody&#8221; in the digital asset space.

With shares trading near all-time highs of around $171, multiple analysts raised price targets. Scotiabank raised the price target from $172 to $181, Wells Fargo raised the price target from $175 to $185 and Mizuho raised the price target from $170 to $186. The company beat analyst estimates for earnings and revenue in the second quarter and has posted several double beats in consecutive quarters.

The stock is <a href="https://www.benzinga.com/markets/commodities/25/09/47553138/gold-beats-ai-this-miner-just-crushed-palantir-in-2025">one of the top performers</a> in the S&amp;P 500 year-to-date with a 107% gain and <a href="https://www.benzinga.com/quote/NEM/analyst-ratings">analysts are mixed </a>on what comes next. Macquarie downgraded the stock from Outperform to Neutral, while RBC Capital upgraded the stock from Sector Perform to Outperform. A recent Bloomberg report suggesting the company is<a href="https://www.benzinga.com/trading-ideas/movers/25/08/47357624/worlds-biggest-gold-miner-newmont-weighs-thousands-of-job-cuts-as-cost-pressures-mount"> weighing job cuts</a> that could be in the thousands to improve costs after a $15 billion acquisition of Newcrest Mining. The company saw revenue up 29% or more year-over-year across its three main business segments. Annual recurring revenue was up 39% to $1.2 billion. The company also raised its full-year revenue outlook after the results. Axon CEO Rick Smith was on CNBC's "Mad Money" in <a href="https://www.youtube.com/watch?v=l0YmW-fyegs&amp;t=31">August </a>where he shared that the entire ecosystem is seeing growth. Smith highlighted growth of AI-related products as well.

The segment is valued at over €6 billion ($7 billion). The company&#8217;s imaging and cancer-care-focused Varian units are not included. Siemens AG (OTC:<a class="ticker" href="https://www.benzinga.com/stock/SIEGY#OTC">SIEGY</a>) remains the largest shareholder, with roughly a 71% stake. The auction comes at a time when the Munich-based company is <a href="https://www.benzinga.com/25/03/44393734/siemens-to-slash-6000-jobs-as-demand-slows-in-germany-and-china">restructuring and reducing staff</a>. </li>

Congress, once loudly united on TikTok as a national security threat, has gone strangely quiet. Behind the scenes, a divestiture framework has been in place for months. Bidders are circling, yet the White House has gone mute. Bottom line: Expect another extension. Meanwhile, in France, a parliamentary committee chairman has requested criminal charges against the platform, alleging it <a href="https://www.benzinga.com/news/legal/25/09/47637664/tiktok-faces-criminal-probe-in-france-after-lawmaker-says-platform-endangered-lives-of-minors">"deliberately endangered" minors' lives</a>.</li>

The acceptance window runs until Oct. 7, but it looks like Sabadell shareholders might be keeping their independence — at least for now.</li>

<li>RaceTrac, the Atlanta-based convenience-store operator, will gobble up Chicago-based sandwich chain Potbelly for approximately $566 million in an all-cash deal. The transaction, expected to close in Q4, will keep both brands separate, with Potbelly aiming to expand toward its goal of 2,000 stores, according <a href="https://www.wsj.com/business/hospitality/potbelly-sandwich-chain-to-sell-itself-to-convenience-store-operator-racetrac-8857bd04">to</a> the Wall Street Journal. Potbelly, which operates over 445 locations, reported adjusted earnings of 30 cents per share in 2024, up from 15 cents in 2023, though same-store sales slightly declined. This acquisition is RaceTrac's second major purchase in two years, following its 2023 acquisition <a href="https://www.racetrac.com/About-Us/News-Media/Articles/2023/RaceTrac-Completes-Acquisition-of-Gulf-Oil">of</a> Gulf Oil.</li>

The acquisition aligns with PNC's ongoing investment in high-growth markets, including Denver and Phoenix, making Colorado one of its key markets.</li>

<li>Forward Industries (NASDAQ:<a class="ticker" href="https://www.benzinga.com/stock/FORD#NASDAQ">FORD</a>) completed a $1.65 billion private investment in public equity (PIPE) to develop a corporate crypto treasury centered on Solana, according <a href="https://www.coindesk.com/business/2025/09/11/forward-industries-closes-usd1-65b-deal-to-build-solana-treasury-shares-jump-15-pre-market">to</a> CoinDesk. Three lead investors contributed over $300 million, joined by Bitwise Asset Management, Borderless Capital, SkyBridge Capital, and several crypto founders and angel investors. Multicoin co-founder Kyle Samani was named board chairman, with Galaxy's Chris Ferraro and Jump Crypto's Saurabh Sharma as board observers.</li>

<li>Terreno Realty Corp. purchased <a href="https://www.commercialsearch.com/news/terreno-realty-closes-194m-portfolio-deal/">a</a> three-building industrial distribution portfolio in Doral, Florida, and Kearny, New Jersey, for approximately $194.3 million. The 509,000-square-foot portfolio sits on 27.6 acres and is about 36% leased to five tenants. This acquisition completes a multi-market portfolio totaling roughly 1.2 million square feet for $426.9 million, following Terreno's August 2025 purchase of nine Seattle-area flex/industrial and manufacturing buildings for $232.6 million. The previous owner of the new assets was Link Logistics.</li>

<li>Sonoco has agreed <a href="https://investor.sonoco.com/news/news-details/2025/Sonoco-to-Sell-Temperature-Assured-Packaging-Business-to-Arsenal-Capital-Partners/default.aspx">to</a> sell its temperature-assured packaging unit, ThermoSafe, to private equity firm Arsenal Capital Partners for up to $725 million. The deal includes $650 million at closing on a cash- and debt-free basis, plus up to $75 million in performance-based consideration for 2025. The agreement, reached on September 7, is expected to close by year-end pending regulatory approval. Sonoco plans to use the proceeds to reduce debt, lowering its net leverage ratio to about 3.5x.</li>

<h2 class="wp-block-heading">Bankruptcy Block</h2>

<li>Auto dealer Tricolor filed for Chapter 7 bankruptcy in Texas court on Wednesday, moving to liquidate its business a day after Fifth Third Bank warned of alleged fraudulent activity at the company. Tricolor, the third-largest used auto retailer in Texas and California, has more than $1 billion in assets, Reuters reported.</li>

<li>Illinois-based entertainment chain Pinstripes, known for dining, bowling, and bocce, <a href="https://document.epiq11.com/document/getdocumentbycode?docId=4510091&amp;projectCode=PSX&amp;source=DM">filed</a> for Chapter 11 bankruptcy on Sept. 8, citing around $143 million in debt. The company has secured $3.8 million in financing and is seeking a buyer to keep eight locations operating. Pinstripes thanked patrons for their support, pledging to continue delivering the experiences customers enjoy.</li>
