Sweat equity refers to putting in additional effort to increase an asset's value. For instance, you can make upgrades to a property to enhance its value. It's a key distinction between real estate and stocks since there is no way to apply sweat equity to a publicly traded corporation that you don't work for.
However, Sanchez explained that the sweat equity for private equity is much higher than real estate. While sweat equity in real estate can boost your returns by 10% to 20%, Sanchez asserts that some small business owners can double, triple, or even quintuple their returns if they apply sweat equity.&nbsp;

Investors can accumulate a wide range of assets, but most of the focus revolves around stocks and real estate. One asset is easily accessible, while you can see clear reminders of the other asset's value everywhere you go.
There are also a lot more financial experts who talk about stock and real estate investing than there are people like Sanchez who discuss buying small businesses. Part of the reason may be that buying a small business is more difficult in the beginning. You have to know how to grow and manage a business before you can get the type of ROI Sanchez mentions in her presentation.
However, the relative lack of awareness around buying small businesses creates an opportunity for investors in the industry. Fewer investors help people buy small businesses for lower prices. Of course, you can boost this number if you want to reach your financial goals sooner. Each person has a different amount they can invest each month, but knowing your numbers is vital for your money goals.
You don't have to stay on top of your brokerage account to make regular contributions. Sethi suggests setting up automatic portfolio contributions so you never have to worry about it. Automatic transfers into your brokerage account can deduct 10% to 12% of your paycheck before you even have the opportunity to spend it.&nbsp;
Setting aside money for your investments is one step to building wealth. Paying attention to how you speak and think about money can help you determine the next actions you should take.

Minnesota Gov. Tim Walz (D) said Saturday morning that a Democratic state legislator and her husband were killed, and another lawmaker and his wife injured, in separate &#8220;targeted shootings&#8221; at their homes.
What Happened: According to a <a href="https://www.nbcnews.com/news/us-news/targeted-shootings-minnesota-rcna212831">report</a> by NBC News, state Rep. Melissa Hortman and her husband were shot and killed and state Sen. John Hoffman and his wife were shot and wounded. The suspect involved in the shootings is still at large. Both lawmakers were members of the Minnesota Democratic–Farmer–Labor Party.
Authorities have suggested that the shooter may have been impersonating law enforcement and visited the lawmakers&#8217; homes, which are approximately eight miles apart in suburbs north of Minneapolis.
Sen. Amy Klobuchar (D-Minn.) referred to the shootings as "a stunning act of violence" in a social media post. She expressed gratitude for the law enforcement&#8217;s real-time response and offered prayers for the Hortman and Hoffman families.
Earlier on Saturday, Walz stated that he had been&nbsp;briefed about the "targeted shootings,"&nbsp;and that&nbsp;the Minnesota Department of Public&nbsp;Safety and local law enforcement&nbsp;were on the scene. The&nbsp;Brooklyn Park Police Department issued&nbsp;a shelter-in-place alert for an&nbsp;area surrounding the Edinburgh Golf&nbsp;Course Saturday morning in its&nbsp;search for the suspect.

They want to help. They want to promote it," Bassichis said. "They want to weave in philanthropy and community into the investments."
Maxey is set to host an event at the Philadelphia venue to support low-income families and other personal causes. Stephens will host foundation-related events and plans to sell her own beauty care line through Ballers, and Garnett will lead clinics at various future club locations, according to Forbes. Beachum, also an art collector, intends to use Ballers as a platform to display curated pieces from his collection.&nbsp;

At the same time, Forbes says that the clubs will remain accessible to the public for individual court bookings, dining, and private event rentals, creating a flexible ecosystem that appeals to both casual guests and serious athletes.
Ballers plans to open a second location in Boston's Seaport District in August, with Miami and Los Angeles venues scheduled by the middle of next year. Each site will replicate the flagship format, positioning the company firmly in the emerging ‘sportainment' category, Forbes reports.

In a grand show of celebration, President Donald Trump is preparing to mark his 79th birthday with a massive military parade in Washington D.C., an event anticipated to draw as many as 200,000 attendees.

Imagine giving $10,000 to a family member who promises to pay it back but then they don't follow up on paying it back. It's going to make the relationship feel uncomfortable, especially if a friend or family member gives you a hard time when you ask for your money.
You can set a hard line and not lend a dollar to anyone. However, if you still want to give some money, you can give a much smaller amount as a gift. For instance, if a friend or family member asks for $10,000, you can give them $100 on the condition that they never ask you for money again. It may be better to set a hard stance and not give anyone any money right from the start, but each person is different.

If you explore your options and consider online banking, it's easier to find high-yield savings accounts that offer up to 4% APY. If you save $10,000 at 4% APY, you will earn $400 during that year. However, big banks usually have much lower rates, meaning you'll receive far less than $400 with the same $10,000 balance.

Instead of getting a new car, you can save money with a used car that can still drive you from place to place. A car is one of the biggest expenses for most people, right behind housing. Looking in the used car market can save you well over $10,000 if you do your research.
He wraps up by encouraging people to avoid making purchases just for the sake of showing off. Designer bags fit this category, and while the bag may look nice, you can get a similar bag for a much lower price. Then, you can put the money you saved into the stock market and embark on the path toward long-term wealth.

Humphrey Yang Reveals The Three Things That You Must Never Do With Your Money: 'It Can Get Really Messy'

Jasper Therapeutics, Inc. (NASDAQ:<a class="ticker" href="https://www.benzinga.com/stock/JSPR#NASDAQ">JSPR</a>) is presenting data from the 180mg cohort of the Company's SPOTLIGHT Phase 1b/2a study of subcutaneous briquilimab in adult participants with CIndU at the European Academy of Allergy and Clinical Immunology (EAACI) Annual Congress. Briquilimab (subcutaneous) administration resulted in deep disease control at 180mg, with 12 of 12 participants (100%) enrolled in the cohort achieving a clinical response within the 8-week preliminary analysis period. The efficacy observed was rapid and durable, with 8 of 12 participants (66%) achieving clinical response by week 2, and 7 of 12 participants (58%) maintaining clinical response through week 8. Briquilimab continued to be well tolerated in the study, with no serious adverse events (SAEs) and no grade 3 or higher adverse events (AEs) reported in the 180mg cohort.

It's good supplemental income that may be enough to cover most of the Redditor's expenses. He was a firefighter before the accident and earned $80,000 to $85,000 per year. He has been receiving disability pay that equals 80% of his salary, and he's set to work again by the end of the summer.

One commenter told the 29-year-old to make any dramatic changes to his lifestyle, and there are a few reasons why this is great advice. While $1.3 million is a great starting point, it's not enough to quit your job and retire.&nbsp;
Furthermore, making significant changes to your lifestyle and letting people know about your wealth can attract the wrong type of attention. You might attract ‘friends' who want you to spend money on them and then disappear the moment your funds run dry.&nbsp;
Life can be easier if the firefighter maintains his lifestyle and continues to work every day. The commenter suggested the 29-year-old can be in a mode that's between easy and standard difficulty instead of "constantly grinding just to pay the rent."

The commenter then said that the 29-year-old should forget that the account exists and let it grow undisturbed. Regarding the emergency fund, the commenter suggested looking for a high-yield savings account, just like an earlier commenter.&nbsp;
This approach gives the 29-year-old enough money to cover emergency expenses while knowing that most of the $1.3 million is growing over time.

A 29-Year-Old Suddenly Became A Millionaire And Turned To The Dave Ramsey Subreddit For Advice: 'What Am I Supposed To Do With This Money'

Dundee Precious Metals (OTCPK: DPMLF) has signed a deal to acquire UK-based Adriatic Metals (OTC:<a class="ticker" href="https://www.benzinga.com/stock/ADMLF#OTC">ADMLF</a>) for $1.25 billion. The agreement will give Canadian miner control of Adriatic's flagship Vareš <a href="https://www.benzinga.com/topic/silver">silver-zinc operation</a> in Bosnia, expanding its strategic footprint in southeastern Europe. It is Dundee's most significant move yet to boost production growth and diversify cash flow.
"Vareš is a logical fit with our portfolio, as it significantly increases DPM's mine life while adding near-term production growth, a highly prospective land package, and cash flow diversification," Dundee CEO David Rae <a href="https://dundeeprecious.com/news-media/news-releases/dundee-precious-metals-announces-proposed-acquisit-10180/">said</a> in a statement. "We are well-positioned to leverage our expertise in underground mining, our regional presence, and our financial strength to optimize the operation and unlock its full value potential."
Under the mixed cash and stock terms of agreement, Adriatic shareholders will receive 268 British pence per share, comprising 93 pence in cash and 0.1590 of a Dundee share, representing a 50.5% premium to Adriatic's closing price of 177.8 pence on May 19. The acquisition will be implemented through a court-sanctioned scheme of arrangement under UK law.
Upon completion, Dundee shareholders will hold approximately 75.3% of the enlarged entity, while Adriatic shareholders will own the remaining 24.7%. Dundee has already secured support for the deal from Adriatic's board and major shareholders representing 37.2% of the UK firm's share capital.
The key asset in the acquisition is located about 50 kilometers north of Sarajevo. It is a high-grade underground mine producing silver-zinc and lead-silver-gold concentrates. It has a 15-year mine life based on current reserves and is expected to produce approximately 168,000 ounces of gold equivalent annually, with a life-of-mine all-in sustaining cost of $893 per ounce.
Dundee forecasts the project will generate $2.1 billion in post-tax cash flow over its life, with a post-tax net present value of $1.6 billion at a 5% discount rate, based on long-term metal prices.
"Vareš remains firmly on track to become a low-cost precious metals producer, underpinned by a high-grade deposit and strong exploration upside," Adriatic CEO Laura Tyler said. "This transaction brings together complementary strengths to create a diversified mining company with meaningful scale."
Adriatic's portfolio also includes the Raška zinc-silver project in Serbia, providing Dundee with exploration and development potential in the region. The merged company will be headquartered in Toronto, and Adriatic's UK office will close. Tyler and CFO Michael Horner will exit following the transaction, and Adriatic's board will step down.
BMO Capital Markets advised Dundee, while RBC Capital Markets and Macquarie Capital advised Adriatic. The transaction is expected to close by the end of 2025, subject to shareholder and regulatory approvals, including from the Bosnian Competition Council.

Culper put out a <a href="https://www.benzinga.com/trading-ideas/movers/25/02/43981217/applovin-stock-drops-on-multiple-short-reports-allegations-of-copying-meta-creating-smoke-an" target="_blank" rel="noreferrer noopener">short report</a> on AppLovin in February previously Muddy Waters and Fuzzy Panda Research are other companies with short reports on the company. The company recently <a href="https://www.benzinga.com/news/earnings/25/05/45269045/applovin-stock-shakes-off-short-seller-report-shares-surge-on-q1-earnings-beat" target="_blank" rel="noreferrer noopener">beat analyst estimates</a> for revenue and earnings per share in the first quarter. <h2 class="wp-block-heading">Arc Coast Has a 226kWh Battery, 50 MPH Top Speed, and Open Deck for 10 Passengers</h2>
Arc Coast features a high-voltage 226 kWh battery, the same system used in the Arc Sport, which, according to Electrek, gives the boat a top speed of 50 miles per hour and a cruising time of four to five hours on a single charge. Instead of the large outboard engines common in traditional boats, Arc says it uses a compact sterndrive system.
The open deck accommodates up to 10 passengers, creating more room for fishing, relaxing, or swimming without the bulk and noise associated with combustion engines, Electrek reports.
Arc said in a<a href="https://www.prnewswire.com/news-releases/arc-unveils-the-arc-coast-an-all-electric-evolution-of-the-center-console-302455358.html"> statement</a> that the center console format has long been used for fishing and sandbar outings, offering flexible movement and social space. The Arc Coast was designed from scratch to deliver quiet electric performance, streamlined software, and a simplified ownership experience compared to traditional gas-powered boats. The design also enables Arc to simplify the layout and reduce material costs.

Electric boats offer a cleaner alternative because they are quieter, require less maintenance, and can be charged with energy from renewable sources, Arc says.
Even when factoring in the environmental cost of lithium-ion battery production, a 2016<a href="https://strathprints.strath.ac.uk/79097/1/Park_etal_AE_2022_Live_life_cycle_assessment_of_the_electric.pdf"> report</a> suggests that electric marine transport remains more sustainable than extracting and burning billions of tons of fossil fuels each year.
Arc says it reused its existing battery system to reduce development time and expects to bring the Arc Coast to market in less than one year from prototype to production.

Even if you don't intend on marrying or having kids, it's good to have this motivation in mind just in case you change your mind. That way, if you want to become a parent, you have put yourself in a better financial position to make it happen.

Tori Dunlap Encourages People To Think About Their Motivation For Becoming Rich: 'I Want To Be Rich Because Of The Options Money Affords Me'

Anthropic co-founder Ben Mann says true "transformative AI" will arrive only after systems ace what he calls the "economic Turing test."
What Happened: Mann, in a recent appearance on the &#8216;No Priors&#8217; podcast, defined the &#8220;economic Turing test&#8221; as a workplace trial that forces hiring managers to choose between a month-long contractor and an AI agent for the same job.
Passing the test would mark "when things start to get really interesting from a societal and cultural standpoint," Mann noted.
Mann's yardstick swaps laboratory benchmarks for a market basket covering "50% of economically valuable tasks." Each human supervisor would "hire an agent" to perform the work. If, at the end of the month, the manager prefers the machine, "then it passed," he said.

Mann does warn that the exercise has its limitations. "Interviews are only a poor approximation of real-world job performance," he observed, dismissing current testing measures as limited and too theoretical.

Anthropic has already run its Claude models through internal interviews and found them "extremely good," though Mann conceded that the formal trial "hasn't started" and might not come until after the firm's next release cycle. He pegged 2028 as a "quite possible" window for artificial general intelligence but cautioned that precise timelines remain guesswork.
Why It Matters: Mann&#8217;s coinage of the phrase &#8220;economic Turing test&#8221; builds on the Turing Test, which is a simple method of inquiry in artificial intelligence for determining whether or not a computer is capable of thinking like a human being.
OpenAI&#8217;s ChatGPT 4 became the first AI LLM to pass a two-player Turing test, fooling human conversation partners 54% of the time back in July 2024. GPT-4.5 achieved a 73% success rate in a more formal test in March earlier this year. However, critics have posed several reasons over the years challenging the accuracy of the test in determining the true intelligence of machines.
A new Wharton study also found that large language models now create <a href="https://www.benzinga.com/tech/25/03/44369538/ai-just-passed-the-meme-turing-test-study-finds-llms-now-create-funnier-memes-than-most-humans">memes humans rate as funnier</a> than the average person's, effectively passing the "meme Turing Test."
Anthropic's momentum is accelerating. A March Series E round pushed its <a href="https://www.benzinga.com/tech/25/03/44099466/bitcoin-ethereum-dogecoin-nosedive-as-trumps-tariff-moves-wipe-out-crypto-reserve-fueled-gains-analyst-says-breaking-through-this-barrier-will-help-btc-touch-new-highs">valuation to $61.5 billion</a>, positioning the startup backed by Amazon.com Inc. Mark Cuban, the billionaire entrepreneur, shared insights into his early business journey, revealing that he did not take a vacation for seven years while building his first company.
What Happened: The revelation came during an episode of &#8220;The Playbook,&#8221; a video series by Sports Illustrated and Entrepreneur, <a href="https://www.cnbc.com/2025/06/13/mark-cuban-i-didnt-take-a-vacation-while-building-my-first-business.html">via</a> CNBC, published on June 3.
Cuban, who founded the software company MicroSolutions at 24, was living with six roommates after losing his job. He described his financial struggles as a motivating factor, stating, &#8220;I was broke as f&#x2A;&#x2A;&#x2A;.&#8221;
