Alternative credit expert Reckoner Capital Management on July 9 introduced the Reckoner Leveraged AAA CLO ETF (NYSE:<a class="ticker" href="https://www.benzinga.com/stock/RAAA#NYSE">RAAA</a>), the industry&#8217;s first ETF providing leveraged exposure to AAA-rated <a href="https://www.benzinga.com/topic/lending">collateralized loan obligations (CLOs)</a>. 
The fund seeks to provide increased yields by matching high-quality CLO assets with moderate leverage, making it a differentiated competitor in the fast-changing <a href="https://www.benzinga.com/etfs">CLO ETF space</a>.
&#8220;While the CLO ETF market has grown significantly as institutional and retail investors seek alternative credit investment opportunities that offer diversification, attractive yields, low default risk, and inflation protection, there is still limited differentiation among AAA CLO ETFs,&#8221; said Reckoner CEO John Kim. The fund&#8217;s distinguishing factor is its capacity to access elite CLO managers and employ modest leverage to enhance returns while prioritizing capital preservation.

<h2 class="wp-block-heading">AAA CLO ETF Explained</h2>
A collateralized loan obligation (CLO) is a portfolio of corporate loans—usually from below-investment-grade corporations—pooled together. They&#8217;re then carved up into various &#8220;tranches&#8221; of risk. The AAA tranche is the most senior and lowest-risk. In other words, it&#8217;s the first to be paid and the last to incur losses.
An AAA CLO ETF provides investors with exposure to these highest-quality slices, merging:

<li>Greater yields than regular investment-grade bonds</li>
<li>Floating interest rates, hedging against inflation and rate increases</li>
<li>Low default risk due to the AAA credit ranking</li>
<li>Diversification, as CLOs are secured by dozens or even scores of corporate loans</li>

Institutional investors once held CLOs alone. ETFs have now made it possible for individual investors to gain access to these high-yielding instruments, which offer built-in liquidity and transparency.
<h2 class="wp-block-heading">Strategy In Focus</h2>
The RAAA ETF invests almost exclusively in AAA-rated, floating-rate CLO bonds, carefully selected based on a data-intensive screening process that considers CLO managers on the basis of performance, risk tolerance, and track record. These bonds occupy the highest position in the CLO capital structure, providing increased protection against defaults.
To build bigger returns, Reckoner uses up to 50% leverage through short-term reverse repurchase agreements, a step it states will be turned up or down as market conditions dictate. The fund is actively managed and calibrated to be sensitive to credit and macroeconomic risks, calling on Reckoner&#8217;s over $16 billion of experience managing alternative credit assets.

What's Going On With GameStop Stock?

Shopify Inc. (NASDAQ:<a class="ticker" href="https://www.benzinga.com/stock/SHOP#NASDAQ">SHOP</a>) shares are trading higher Monday after Needham &amp; Company initiated coverage on the stock with a<a href="https://www.benzinga.com/analyst-stock-ratings/price-target/25/07/46390268/uber-to-rally-more-than-14-here-are-10-top-analyst-forecasts-for-monday"> Buy rating and a $135 price target. </a>
What To Know: The bullish initiation came alongside a separate price target increase from Baird. The positive analyst attention helped push Shopify's stock to $116.97 during the session<a href="https://www.bloomberg.com/news/articles/2025-07-14/autodesk-is-said-to-drop-pursuit-of-software-firm-ptc?srnd=technology-ai&amp;embedded-checkout=true">, according to Bloomberg.</a>
In its report, Needham highlighted Shopify's long-term growth potential, stating that the company remains in the middle phase of a durable growth cycle rather than approaching maturity. The firm pointed to Shopify's significant investments in international markets and B2B commerce as key drivers of its next growth phase. Needham sees these areas as underpenetrated and critical to Shopify's ability to sustain double-digit revenue growth over the coming years.
Needham also noted Shopify's strong operating leverage and free cash flow expansion as factors supporting its bullish view. Over the past few years, Shopify has expanded its non-GAAP operating margins from just above breakeven pre-pandemic to over 16% in fiscal year 2024. The firm projects that margin expansion could continue, pushing free cash flow margins toward 20% by fiscal year 2027. Needham expects Shopify's free cash flow to grow by 26% in fiscal year 2025, with steady growth continuing into fiscal year 2026.
The firm acknowledged some risks, particularly Shopify's exposure to shifts in consumer spending, given the company's reliance on payments within its business model. However, Needham believes the size of Shopify's total addressable market and its strength as a platform provider mitigate those concerns. The report emphasized that Shopify's ease of use, extensive app ecosystem, and ability to scale with customers have made it a dominant player in the global e-commerce space.
Needham&#8217;s coverage initiated on the belief that Shopify can maintain revenue growth of 20% or more for the next few years, backed by its position in the growing international e-commerce market and its push into B2B solutions. With the company trading at roughly 26 times next-twelve-months gross profit, the firm views Shopify's valuation as justified given its consistent financial performance and growth outlook.

Shopify Shares Are Up Monday: What's Going On?

The S&amp;P 500's July rally to fresh record highs hides a troubling divide at the index's core—one not seen since the early 2000s—and no, this time it has nothing to do <a href="https://www.benzinga.com/topic/donald-trump">with Trump's trade policies.</a>
<h3 class="wp-block-heading">S&amp;P 500 Hits Records, But Most Stocks Miss The Party</h3>
While the SPDR S&amp;P 500 ETF Trust (NYSE:<a class="ticker" href="https://www.benzinga.com/stock/SPY#NYSE">SPY</a>) has surged to new record highs, its equal-weighted counterpart, the Invesco S&amp;P 500 Equal Weight ETF (NYSE:<a class="ticker" href="https://www.benzinga.com/stock/RSP#NYSE">RSP</a>), is telling a very different story. 
The ratio between SPY and RSP has now climbed to its highest level since August 2003, underscoring the narrowest market breadth in over two decades.
In plain terms, a small group of megacap stocks is carrying the rally, while the average stock is lagging behind. 
The median S&amp;P 500 constituent is now 11% below its 52-week high, and RSP is down 3% from its late-2024 peak, despite the cap-weighted index breaking records.
Market breadth refers to the number of stocks participating in a rally. Right now, it's historically thin. That's raising eyebrows among investors, not because the bull run is over, but because the gains are concentrated in just a handful of high-performing names.

<h2 class="wp-block-heading">What's Going On With Market Breadth?</h2>
According to Goldman Sachs' analyst David J. Kostin, the narrow breadth could set the stage for a short-term shift.
"If our economic and earnings outlooks prove correct, more momentum rotation is likely in store," Kostin said.
Historical data from Goldman shows that during strong macroeconomic turns, lagging stocks tend to catch up—even if the high-flying leaders cool off.
There&#8217;s also an important valuation angle here. Stocks with strong profit margins and solid balance sheets are now trading at significant premiums, while so-called "low quality" stocks remain discounted. If macro conditions improve—meaning lower rates and easing trade tensions—there's room for a rotation into those underperformers.
Still, Kostin remains cautious. "For ‘low quality' stocks to outperform over an extended horizon, we think investors would need to embrace an outlook for stronger economic growth and lower interest rates than our current forecasts indicate," he said.

The stock market usually goes up. Over 6-month, 1-year, 2-year, 3-year, and 5-year periods, the S&amp;P 500 on average has generated positive returns.
That trend even applies to record market highs. As data from JP Morgan Asset Management shows, investing specifically at all-time highs generated even higher average returns over these time horizons.

"Investors usually use all-time highs as a reason to stay in cash or on the sidelines," JP Morgan analysts&nbsp;<a href="https://am.jpmorgan.com/us/en/asset-management/adv/insights/market-insights/guide-to-the-markets/">wrote</a>. "However, history suggests that investing at all-time highs is not a bad strategy because new highs are typically clustered together. In other words, market strength begets more market strength."
If you have money to put to work in the stock market, it's reasonable first to ask if market conditions are attractive.
Unfortunately, it's impossible to know if or when prices will fall before climbing again. And waiting for lower prices&nbsp;<a href="https://www.tker.co/i/47388754/turning-negative-fluctuations-into-permanent-losses">risks missing out on important gains</a>.
The key question is whether you are willing and able to&nbsp;<a href="https://www.tker.co/p/best-investment-advice-time">put in the time</a>. The longer your investment timeframe, the better your&nbsp;<a href="https://www.tker.co/p/best-investment-advice-time">odds of generating a positive return</a>.
The best thing about all this is knowing that you don't have to be a good market timer to be a successful investor.
<h2 class="wp-block-heading">Checking in on the unluckiest market timer I know</h2>
I recently wrote about&nbsp;<a href="https://www.tker.co/p/sam-ro-unlucky-market-timer">the unluckiest market timer I know</a>. This unfortunate fellow&nbsp;<a href="https://www.tker.co/p/weekly-trades-market-timing">has a history</a>&nbsp;of making big, lump-sum purchases near market tops.
Unfortunately, that unlucky market timer is me.
After doing my 2024 tax returns in February, I learned I had some extra cash to put to work. So, I tossed it into my self-employed 401(k) plan and&nbsp;<a href="https://www.tker.co/p/sam-ro-unlucky-market-timer">made a lump sum purchase of an S&amp;P 500 index fund</a>&nbsp;on Feb. 18.
The market climbed to a new record high the very next day. That ended up being a top, and from there the S&amp;P 500 proceeded to fall by around 20% before bottoming on April 7.
But was I as unlucky as I felt in the moment? As&nbsp;<a href="https://www.tker.co/p/stock-market-down-days-drawdowns-down-years-normal">unpleasant</a>&nbsp;as that experience was, I knew&nbsp;<a href="https://www.tker.co/p/best-investment-advice-time">I had the luxury of time</a>&nbsp;and that&nbsp;<a href="https://www.tker.co/p/stock-market-performance-after-down-days">I shouldn't let my emotions get near my portfolio</a>. Because as&nbsp;<a href="https://www.tker.co/i/42137695/you-can-get-smoked-in-the-short-term">TKer Stock Market Truth No. 2</a>&nbsp;reminds us,&nbsp;<a href="https://www.tker.co/i/152191458/intra-year-max-drawdowns-are-uglier">double-digit, intra-year drawdowns</a>&nbsp;are typical even in upward-trending markets.

That self-counsel proved wise. The stock market surged from its April lows and set a&nbsp;<a href="https://www.tker.co/p/stock-market-all-time-high-june-2025">new record high on June 27</a>. It was a quicker recovery than usual and what I would've expected. But that's the stock market for you.
