At their core, stablecoins are digital currencies designed to keep a steady value. Unlike regular cryptocurrencies that can swing wildly in price, stablecoins are tied to assets like the U.S. dollar, making them a reliable store of value. That reliability is starting to matter more than ever.
Stablecoins are also unbound from the constraints that fiat currencies are exposed to. Imagine a freelancer getting paid from overseas — they often have to use remittance companies or crossborder payment services that either charge high fees or take days to settle. For them, stablecoins are a real lifeline. They're easy to use, don't require a bank account, and work around the clock, no matter where you are in the world.
What's more, there's no mountain of paperwork or approval process. Just download a digital wallet, and you&#8217;re in. That kind of open access is game-changing, especially for the billions of people still excluded from traditional banking systems.
USDT and USDC dominate the stablecoin space right now. Together, they move billions every day and are becoming more accessible across different blockchains. Another emerging class of stablecoins are yield-bearing stablecoins, led by Ethena and Level, that provide users with sustainable yield options in the face of widespread volatility.
Stablecoins are no longer just a crypto-native concept. They're rapidly entering the apps people already use every day. PayPal and Venmo now support stablecoin transfers. Nubank and Revolut are integrating stablecoins directly into their fintech interfaces. Even governments are taking notice—Thailand recently announced it will begin accepting stablecoins for certain forms of payment, signaling growing regulatory openness in Asia. This means users can now send global payments, remit funds across borders, and pay merchants without ever needing to understand how blockchain works.
For the first time, people can use borderless digital dollars inside products they already trust. Merchant adoption is accelerating too, Stripe supports stablecoin payments, and integrations with Apple Pay and Google Pay are on the horizon. With these channels in place, stablecoins are on the verge of becoming default digital money.
But while this benefits human users, it also lays the groundwork for something bigger: a fully AI-compatible currency layer.
Stablecoins started as a bridge between fiat and crypto. But their evolution, enabled by the rapid AI developments, could turn them into the coordination layer for the machine economy.
As autonomous AI agents increasingly participate in financial ecosystems, executing trades, managing supply chains, optimizing liquidity, they'll need access to currencies that are not only stable but programmable, interoperable, and instantly available across different asset classes and chains and backed by different types of assets.
AI manages volatility and uncertainty, but it thrives in stability, just like large language models become more effective when fed large clean datasets. Unlike human traders who might speculate on swings, AI agents are logic-driven. They prioritize efficiency, predictability, and risk minimization. That's why highly stable, on-chain currencies anchored in real-world value and verifiable in real time are quickly becoming critical infrastructure in the age of intelligent automation.
Having a stable, AI-compatible currency layer would mean entire industries will be able to transact autonomously with minimal exposure to volatility and using a wide variety of assets. AI agents could settle across jurisdictions without banking rails and real-world assets could be collateralized and algorithmically stabilized, unlocking new forms of programmable value.
Stablecoins are evolving into smarter, more flexible tools that could change how we interact with money, especially when the world feels anything but stable.

Netflix Inc (NASDAQ:<a class="ticker" href="https://www.benzinga.com/stock/NFLX#NASDAQ">NFLX</a>) shares are rallying Tuesday, nearing all-time highs on continued momentum from strong earnings late last week. Here&#8217;s a look at <a href="https://www.benzinga.com/markets/equities/25/04/44919712/netflix-shares-up-1-6-after-key-signal-even-as-s-p-500-drops-2-4">what&#8217;s going on</a>.
What To Know: Netflix stock has been on a tear this week as investors flock to the name as a <a href="https://www.benzinga.com/trading-ideas/25/04/44909012/how-to-trade-the-one-tariff-proof-tech-stock">safe haven</a> amid tariff uncertainty. Netflix is largely insulated from global tariffs as the company sells streaming subscriptions as opposed to physical goods, and strong earnings from last week appears to have sparked investor confidence. 
Netflix reported first-quarter revenue of $10.54 billion, beating analyst estimates of $10.52 billion. The company reported first-quarter adjusted earnings of $6.61 per share, beating estimates of $5.74 per share, according to&nbsp;<a href="http://pro.benzinga.com/" target="_blank" rel="noreferrer noopener">Benzinga Pro</a>.
Total revenue was up 13% year-over-year, driven by membership growth and higher pricing. The streaming giant said results came in above company expectations due to higher-than-forecasted subscription and advertising revenue.
Netflix guided for 15% revenue growth in the second quarter, highlighting continued strong trends in memberships and advertising revenue. The company also forecasted second-quarter earnings of $7.03 per share versus estimates of $6.27 per share.
"We remain optimistic about our 2025 slate with a lineup that includes returning favorites, series finales, new discoveries and unexpected surprises designed to thrill our members," the company said last week.

Following the print, several analysts <a href="https://www.benzinga.com/general/entertainment/25/04/44905838/netflix-playing-offense-while-stock-plays-defense-6-analysts-on-q1-results-advertising-growth-ahead">raised price targets</a> on the streaming stock, ranging from $1,070 to $1,514 per share. 
JPMorgan analysts flagged Netflix as a defensive play for investors, but also noted that the company is &#8220;playing offense.&#8221; The analyst firm believes Netflix will continue to be a key beneficiary of the ongoing disruption of linear TV. 
Several analysts acknowledged Netflix&#8217;s limited exposure to tariffs, suggesting minimal impacts from macroeconomic uncertainty. Many firms also pointed to strong subscriber growth trends and the ability for the company to raise prices and drive stronger revenue growth through its ad-tier plan. 
&#8220;Mgmt confirmed they are not seeing a slowdown or pullback in ad spend given recent macro uncertainty,&#8221; Macquarie analyst Ross Compton said. 
<a href="http://benzinga.com/quote/nflx">Netflix shares</a> reached all-time highs of $1,064.50 in February. The stock is up about 8% over the past few trading sessions and is now within striking distance of the February highs. 
Netflix shares were up 4.8% at $1,035.26 at the time of publication Tuesday, according to <a href="http://pro.benzinga.com">Benzinga Pro</a>.

Netflix Stock Nears All-Time High: What's Going On?

Roche Holdings AG (OTC:<a class="ticker" href="https://www.benzinga.com/stock/RHHBY#OTC">RHHBY</a>) announced on Tuesday that it will invest $50 billion in the U.S. over <a href="https://www.benzinga.com/topic/pharmaceuticals">the next five years.</a>
These investments further strengthen Roche's already significant U.S. footprint, which includes 13 manufacturing and 15 R&amp;D sites across the Pharmaceutical and Diagnostics Divisions.
The investment is expected to <a href="https://www.roche.com/media/releases/med-cor-2025-04-22" target="_blank" rel="noreferrer noopener">create</a> over 12,000 new jobs, including nearly 6,500 construction jobs and 1,000 jobs at new and expanded facilities.

As part of this investment, Roche will increase its footprint of more than 25,000 employees in 24 sites across eight U.S. states. The investment will include: 
<ul>
<li>Expanded and upgraded US manufacturing and distribution capabilities for its innovative medicines and diagnostics portfolio in Kentucky, Indiana, New Jersey, Oregon, and California.</li>
<li>Gene therapy manufacturing facility in Pennsylvania.</li>
<li>A new 900,000-square-foot manufacturing center to support Roche's expanding portfolio of <a href="https://www.benzinga.com/general/biotech/25/04/44791986/whats-going-on-with-viking-therapeutics-structure-therapeutics-stock-on-monday" target="_blank" rel="noreferrer noopener">next-generation weight loss medicines</a>. The company says the location will be announced.</li>
<li>A new manufacturing facility for continuous glucose monitoring in Indiana.</li>
<li>A new R&amp;D center in Massachusetts for conducting artificial intelligence research and as a hub for new cardiovascular, renal, and metabolism R&amp;D efforts.</li>
<li>Significant expansion and upgrading of existing pharmaceuticals and diagnostics R&amp;D centers in Arizona, Indiana, and California.</li>
</ul>
Once all new and expanded manufacturing capacity comes online, Roche will export more medicines from the U.S. than it imports. The company says its diagnostics division already has an export surplus from the U.S. to other countries.
Earlier this month, Novartis AG (NYSE:<a class="ticker" href="https://www.benzinga.com/stock/NVS#NYSE">NVS</a>) unveiled a sweeping $23 billion investment plan to expand its manufacturing and research infrastructure in the U.S. <a href="https://www.benzinga.com/general/biotech/25/04/44761201/novartis-commits-23-billion-to-expand-us-manufacturing-over-five-years-despite-tariffs-uncertainties" target="_blank" rel="noreferrer noopener">over the next five years</a>.
The move is part of a broader strategy to ensure that all key Novartis medicines for U.S. patients are produced domestically.
Earlier this year, Johnson &amp; Johnson (NYSE:<a class="ticker" href="https://www.benzinga.com/stock/JNJ#NYSE">JNJ</a>) announced its plans to invest more than <a href="https://www.benzinga.com/markets/equities/25/03/44433978/johnson-johnson-to-invest-55-billion-in-us-to-boost-manufacturing-drug-discovery" target="_blank" rel="noreferrer noopener">$55 billion in the U.S. over the next four years</a>, while Eli Lilly And Co (NYSE:<a class="ticker" href="https://www.benzinga.com/stock/LLY#NYSE">LLY</a>) plans to double its U.S. drug manufacturing spending from $23 billion to <a href="https://www.benzinga.com/general/biotech/25/02/43982604/eli-lilly-doubles-capital-spending-on-us-drug-manufacturing-with-50-billion-target" target="_blank" rel="noreferrer noopener">$50 billion within five years</a>.

Roche Plans $50 Billion US Investment Over 5 Years With 12,000 New Jobs

On Tuesday, Sapiens International Corporation (NASDAQ:<a class="ticker" href="https://www.benzinga.com/stock/SPNS#NASDAQ">SPNS</a>) disclosed its plan to acquire Candela for an aggregate <a target="_blank" href="https://www.benzinga.com/pressreleases/25/04/n44915217/sapiens-acquires-candela-to-expand-its-footprint-in-apac-and-enhance-its-life-product-portfolio" rel="noreferrer noopener">cash consideration of&nbsp;$22 million</a>.
Candela offers an end-to-end insurance automation platform along with digital services and solutions in the APAC region.
The acquisition is intended to strengthen Sapiens' life insurance offerings and broaden its footprint across Asia-Pacific.
The deal is anticipated to close in the second quarter of 2025, pending regulatory approvals and closing conditions.
Candela's offerings complement Sapiens' Insurance Platform and Life Policy Administration Systems.
By integrating Candela's strengths in Business Process Modelling (BPM) and Case Management, Sapiens plans to enhance its life insurance solutions.
The acquisition will also allow for the integration of standardized workflows across third-party legacy systems, delivering a more streamlined and consistent experience for agents, customers, and administrators.
Roni Al-Dor, CEO and President at Sapiens, said, "We will continue to support Candela's customers and products, increasing value across the entire insurance lifecycle and supporting insurers' digital transformations with a comprehensive product proposition and a diverse range of service capabilities."
Amitabh Poddar, Business Head at Candela, added, "Integrating our intelligent automation solutions into Sapiens' leading insurance software platform will enhance our capabilities and provide even greater value to our customers."
Notably, Candela reported non-GAAP revenues of $8 million for the full year 2024. The transaction is expected to be accretive to Sapiens' profitability <a target="_blank" href="https://www.benzinga.com/calendars/guidance" rel="noreferrer noopener">beginning in the fourth quarter of 2025</a>.
The deal is expected in the second quarter of 2025 and Candela will operate as a wholly owned subsidiary of Sapiens.
The company disclosed the first quarter of<a target="_blank" href="https://www.benzinga.com/earnings" rel="noreferrer noopener"> 2025 results on May 8, 2025</a>.
As of December 31, cash and cash <a target="_blank" href="https://www.benzinga.com/pressreleases/25/02/n43775499/sapiens-reports-fourth-quarter-2024-financial-results" rel="noreferrer noopener">equivalent stood at $163.7 million</a>.
Investors can gain exposure to the stock via ARK Israel Innovative Technology ETF (BATS:<a class="ticker" href="https://www.benzinga.com/stock/IZRL#BATS">IZRL</a>).

Sapiens Taps APAC Growth With $22 Million Candela Acquisition

Shares of retail and consumer discretionary stocks are trading higher following US Treasury Secretary Scott Bessent's reported remarks about trade de-escalation with China. De-escalation with China could reduce supply chain uncertainty and boost consumer sentiment.

Cantor Fitzgerald initiated coverage on Eli Lilly And Co (NYSE:<a class="ticker" href="https://www.benzinga.com/stock/LLY#NYSE">LLY</a>) on Monday, citing orforglipron data, which strengthens <a href="https://www.benzinga.com/topic/weight-loss" target="_blank" rel="noreferrer noopener">the case for obesity dominance</a>.
Last week, the U.S. drug giant reported topline Phase 3 results from the ACHIEVE-1 trial of orforglipron compared to placebo in adults with type 2 diabetes and inadequate glycemic control with <a href="https://www.benzinga.com/25/04/44860903/eli-lillys-oral-glp-1-drug-orforglipron-hits-phase-3-goals-in-diabetes-trial-stock-shoots-higher" target="_blank" rel="noreferrer noopener">diet and exercise alone</a>.
