Mark Cuban Says 'IP Is King In An AI World' As Tech Giants Pour In Trillions — Here Are Some Top AI Spenders' Stocks To Watch

Bank of America analysts are ramping up expectations for Alphabet Inc. (NASDAQ:<a class="ticker" href="https://www.benzinga.com/stock/GOOGL#NASDAQ">GOOGL</a>) and Microsoft Corp. (NASDAQ:<a class="ticker" href="https://www.benzinga.com/stock/MSFT#NASDAQ">MSFT</a>), forecasting above-consensus earnings on strong artificial intelligence tailwinds, ad recovery and robust enterprise software demand heading into quarterly <a href="https://www.benzinga.com/earnings">results later this month.</a>
<h3 class="wp-block-heading">Alphabet Expected To Outperform On Search and FX Tailwinds</h3>
Alphabet reports its second-quarter results on July 23, and Bank of America analyst Justin Post said the stock looks well-positioned to beat expectations, driven by ad strength, macroeconomic tailwinds, and product monetization improvements from AI.
Post revised its revenue and earnings estimate to $81 billion and $2.21 per share, up from prior forecasts of $80 billion and $2.15. Wall Street consensus sits lower at $79.5 billion and $2.15.
Alphabet's core search revenue is expected to rise 11% year-over-year, ahead of Street estimates of 9%.
Search revenue has been the most closely watched—and arguably the most feared—metric for investors, as the rise of AI platforms threatens to bypass traditional search engines and disrupt Google&#8217;s core business model.
"We think Street estimates for Search… have upside," Post said, citing stable spending trends and FX that could add two points of growth. 
He also indicated that the company's AI-driven features, like AI Overviews and AI Mode, are reducing click volumes but improving conversion rates, which is ultimately a monetization win.
Cloud revenue is forecasted at $13.2 billion, modestly above the $13.1 billion Street view, with additional upside potential from price hikes in Workspace. 
Post raised the price target from $200 to $210, implying a 14% upside from current levels. The analyst flagged that Alphabet trades at an attractive 12x multiple on 2026 core Google earnings, compared to 21x for the S&amp;P 500.
Alphabet stock is up 10% since its I/O conference on May 20, but remains down 2.4% year-to-date. Notably, Alphabet has underperformed compared to the Roundhill Magnificent Seven ETF (NYSE:<a class="ticker" href="https://www.benzinga.com/stock/MAGS#NYSE">MAGS</a>), which has risen 5% year-to-date.
<h3 class="wp-block-heading">Microsoft Gets Lift from Azure Strength And Copilot Uptake</h3>
Microsoft reports its fiscal fourt-quarter results on July 30, and the firm analyst Brad Sills said checks with partners show steady demand trends, particularly for Azure and enterprise software like Office.
Azure is projected to grow 35.5% year-over-year in constant currency, driven by cloud migrations, security needs, and AI services.
In Microsoft's productivity and business processes segment, Office growth could reach 15% versus the previously guided 14%, thanks to commercial upgrades and the growing adoption of Copilot, Microsoft's generative AI assistant. The firm also sees upside in PC shipments, which tracked 7% year-over-year in the second quarter, outperforming the 4% expected.
Looking further ahead, Sills expects Microsoft's revenue to grow 14% in fiscal 2026, the same pace as in 2025, with Azure taking up a larger share. However, margins might flatten as capital expenditures (capex) ramps—forecasted to hit $99.1 billion, roughly 31% of revenue.
Sills said the next big test will be whether Copilot drives incremental top-line growth. 
"While an inflection quarter is unlikely, we believe Copilot has potential to drive incremental growth as we move through FY26."
Microsoft stock has rallied 22% in 2025, trailing only Nvidia Corp. (NASDAQ:<a class="ticker" href="https://www.benzinga.com/stock/NVDA#NASDAQ">NVDA</a>)&#8217;s 28% rally in the Magnificent Seven group.
Bank of America reiterated its Buy rating and lifted the price target from $515 to $585, implying a 15% upside from current levels. 
Price Action: Alphabet shares were up 0.62% at $184.71 and Microsoft shares were down 0.32% at $510.08 at the time of publication Friday, <a href="https://www.benzinga.com/pro/" target="_blank" rel="noreferrer noopener">according to Benzinga Pro</a>.

<h2 class="wp-block-heading">Politics, Tariffs And A Fresh Round Of Market Volatility</h2>
President Trump signed his ‘Big Beautiful Bill' (officially called the "One Big Beautiful Bill Act") into law on Friday during a White House Independence Day celebration. It wasn't a surprise, of course – he said he wanted to do just that. What really grabbed attention, though, was the tariff twist. Remember that 90-day freeze on tariffs is set to expire this Thursday? That's been pushed back to August 1 as the administration continues to work on deals.
The markets took the news in stride, at least at first. Stocks opened higher, with tech leading the charge; bond yields dipped as traders priced in the idea that Trump might kick the can down the road again. But don't be fooled, volatility's still in the air because this delay doesn't erase the threat – it just pushes it further out.
And that's not all. 
Elon Musk, who's been one of the loudest critics of Trump's budget bill, filed to launch his own political party, &#8220;America First,&#8221; in response to its passage. Add this to the mix of trade wars and political threats, and the markets are having to price in a fresh round of uncertainty. We saw that on Monday when the Dow dropped more than 300 points to start the day.
<h2 class="wp-block-heading">Gold's Seasonal Slide And Oil's Short-Lived Momentum</h2>
SPDR Gold Trust (NYSE:<a class="ticker" href="https://www.benzinga.com/stock/GLD#NYSE">GLD</a>) hit all-time highs in April, May and June &#8211; a textbook triple top. Now it's started to back off a bit, sitting around 305 as I'm writing. But the trend still looks solid.
We've got a nice gap between the 50- and 200-day moving averages (MAs), so momentum's still there for now. That said, gold tends to trade lower in August. Additionally, volatility has been declining since its last peak, which suggests to me that gold may be losing momentum in a matter of weeks.
Meanwhile, nature's black gold (oil) is surging right now. We've gone from year-to-date (YTD) lows of $62 to YTD highs of around $84. That's a huge move, but there are signs that it's running out of gas. Prices have already pulled back a little, and the seasonal pattern that's been fueling this rally is about to end.
In fact, I wouldn't be surprised to see oil completely lose steam – even roll over – by next Friday. So, if you're looking to make a move, keep in mind that the window's closing fast.
<h2 class="wp-block-heading">Tech's Rebound Watchlist And The Mag 7's Turning Point</h2>
The Magnificent (MAG) 7 stocks – Apple Inc. (NASDAQ:<a class="ticker" href="https://www.benzinga.com/stock/AAPL#NASDAQ">AAPL</a>), Microsoft Corp. (NASDAQ:<a class="ticker" href="https://www.benzinga.com/stock/MSFT#NASDAQ">MSFT</a>), Alphabet Inc. (NASDAQ:<a class="ticker" href="https://www.benzinga.com/stock/GOOG#NASDAQ">GOOG</a>), Amazon.com Inc. (NASDAQ:<a class="ticker" href="https://www.benzinga.com/stock/AMZN#NASDAQ">AMZN</a>), NVIDIA Corp. (NASDAQ:<a class="ticker" href="https://www.benzinga.com/stock/NVDA#NASDAQ">NVDA</a>), Meta Platforms Inc. (NASDAQ:<a class="ticker" href="https://www.benzinga.com/stock/META#NASDAQ">META</a>) and Tesla Inc. (NASDAQ:<a class="ticker" href="https://www.benzinga.com/stock/TSLA#NASDAQ">TSLA</a>) – are showing signs of a rebound.
A great example of this is the Roundhill Magnificent Seven ETF (BATS:<a class="ticker" href="https://www.benzinga.com/stock/MAGS#BATS">MAGS</a>), which has just posted a textbook V-shaped recovery, bouncing off its April low of around $39 and climbing back toward its January high of nearly $56.50. Even better? Its chart just showed a bullish golden cross, where the 50-day MA crossed above the 200-day MA &#8211; a strong indication that momentum could be turning.
Now, MAGs are still trailing behind the S&amp;P and Dow – it's the caboose. But if this rally keeps rolling, MAGs could catch up fast, possibly even leapfrogging them to the front of the train. And if the biggest names in tech start firing again, it's a signal the broader market could be setting up for another breakout.
<h2 class="wp-block-heading">Tesla's Uncertainty Factor And The Risk Beneath The Rally</h2>
The real wildcard of the markets right now? Tesla.
We've seen the stock hit YTD highs near $426 earlier this year, then tank below $221 and then bounce again. This hasn't happened once or twice – it's happened multiple times. At the moment, it's sitting around $295, but a new tweet by Musk could change that in a heartbeat.
Seasonality isn't giving us much to work with right now, either. There's no bullish or bearish edge we can lean on for July or August. Although we saw a bullish crossover recently, I'm not convinced it will hold, given the constant chaos surrounding the stock.
Volatility is low, Fibonacci levels are signaling a bearish trend, and the overall trend is sideways.
But the unknown factor here is Elon himself. His move to launch a third political party is doing more than just rattling headlines – it's stirring sentiment. Shareholders didn't sign up for this kind of drama or political spotlight. And with what seems to be bridges burned on both sides of the aisle, Tesla's getting dragged even deeper into the mess.
That kind of risk is exactly why Tesla is such a wild card in this market. If it breaks lower, it could drag the rest of the Mag 7 with it. And if it stabilizes, it might be the last piece needed for tech to start firing on all cylinders again.
Ultimately, we're looking at the perfect storm of uncertainty and opportunity right now. So, while the headlines can be distracting, remember that the charts and the patterns are where the real story is told.

Everyone Talked About Nvidia, Apple And Tesla, But This One Tech Stock Has Left Them All Behind In 2025

A historic inflow streak into the world&#8217;s biggest exchange traded fund has come to a sudden end in June, with the S&amp;P 500 benchmark fund losing billions even as Wall Street <a href="https://www.benzinga.com/markets/equities/25/06/46163999/us-stocks-likely-to-open-higher-continuing-record-setting-advances-june-has-never-seen-an-all-time-high-since-1950-highlights-expert">celebrated fresh record highs. </a>
The Vanguard S&amp;P 500 ETF (NYSE:<a class="ticker" href="https://www.benzinga.com/stock/VOO#NYSE">VOO</a>) saw $5.69 billion in outflows during the month, marking its first monthly net redemption since December 2022 and the second-largest outflow since the fund's launch in 2015.
The redemptions signal a notable divergence between market performance and investor behavior. The S&amp;P 500 reached new all-time highs in late June, yet large swaths of institutional and retail investors opted to take profits and reduce exposure.
Over the three years leading up to June 2025, the VOO ETF attracted $250 billion in inflows, overtaking the SPDR S&amp;P 500 ETF Trust (NYSE:<a class="ticker" href="https://www.benzinga.com/stock/SPY#NYSE">SPY</a>) to become the world's largest ETF.

<h3 class="wp-block-heading">Broad-Based Redemptions Across Some Large-Cap ETFs</h3>
The outflows from Vanguard's S&amp;P 500 ETF were far from an isolated case, as other major large-cap funds also saw significant investor withdrawals.
The Invesco Equal-Weight S&amp;P 500 ETF (NYSE:<a class="ticker" href="https://www.benzinga.com/stock/RSP#NYSE">RSP</a>) shed $1.6 billion in June, marking its steepest monthly outflow since March 2020. 
Meanwhile, the SPDR Dow Jones Industrial Average ETF (NYSE:<a class="ticker" href="https://www.benzinga.com/stock/DIA#NYSE">DIA</a>) posted $1.7 billion in redemptions, its largest since December 2020. 
Even the Roundhill Magnificent Seven ETF (CBOE: MAGS), a relatively new fund focused on mega-cap tech names, saw $102 million in outflows—only the second monthly decline in assets since its debut in November 2023.
<h3 class="wp-block-heading">Why Are Investors Pulling Back Amid Record Highs?</h3>
Veteran Market strategist Ed Yardeni said investor sentiment remains cautious, despite easing geopolitical concerns and progress on trade policy under President Donald Trump.
"Though the stock market is back on record-high ground after a couple of big worries have dissipated, investors remain wary, sentiment readings show," Yardeni said in a note on Monday.
Yardeni highlighted the ceasefire in the 12-day conflict between Israel and Iran and improved outlooks regarding Trump&#8217;s proposed trade policies, yet noted that traditional sentiment indicators like the AAII Bull-Bear Ratio and Investor Intelligence surveys remain subdued.
"Stock investors always find something to worry about," Yardeni said. 
In Yardeni's view, the disconnect between price action and sentiment could suggest that a large portion of the current rally is being driven by passive or algorithmic flows, rather than broad-based investor enthusiasm. 
<h3 class="wp-block-heading">Technical Strength vs. Macro Uncertainty</h3>
On the technical front, Adam Turnquist, chief technical strategist at LPL Financial, recently indicated that historical patterns suggest momentum tends to continue after a market reaches new highs.
According to Turnquist&#8217;s analysis, after reaching new highs, the S&amp;P 500 posted average and median 12-month returns of 9.7% and 8.6%, respectively. Notably, 74% of those occurrences led to positive performance over the following year.
Still, Turnquist flagged macro risks that could limit further gains.
 "A lot of good news is arguably priced into the market," he said.
Further upside in equities, Turnquist added, will likely hinge on several variables aligning: upside earnings surprises, lower-than-expected tariff levels, passage of Trump's "Big Beautiful Bill" with limited market disruptions, and ideally, a moderation in interest rates on the longer end of the yield curve.

Tesla ranked last in the poll of the Mag 7 stocks with 10% of the vote, while Microsoft and Amazon tied for fifth with 12%.

The iShares MSCI Mexico ETF (NYSE:<a class="ticker" href="https://www.benzinga.com/stock/EWW#NYSE">EWW</a>) surged 28%, the iShares Large-Cap China ETF (NYSE:<a class="ticker" href="https://www.benzinga.com/stock/FXI#NYSE">FXI</a>) rose 21%, the iShares MSCI Eurozone ETF (NYSE:<a class="ticker" href="https://www.benzinga.com/stock/EZU#NYSE">EZU</a>) gained 20%, and the iShares MSCI Canada ETF (NYSE:<a class="ticker" href="https://www.benzinga.com/stock/EWC#NYSE">EWC</a>) is up 11%.

<h1 class="wp-block-heading">Markets Reversed Course After Trump&#8217;s Swearing-In</h1>
Leading up to Inauguration Day, the trajectory of global markets told a starkly different story. From Election Day on Nov. 5 through Jan. 20, investors moved defensively on regions perceived to be in Trump's crosshairs.
The Mexican ETF lost 6.5%, China's declined 5.8%, and eurozone and Canadian stocks treaded water. 
Meanwhile, the S&amp;P 500 rose 4.6%, and the tech-heavy Magnificent Seven soared 15%, buoyed by artificial intelligence euphoria. 
But the moment Trump reentered the Oval Office, the narrative shifted. Markets began reacting not just to political headlines but to tangible changes in fiscal and trade policy. 
The result: U.S. equities stalled, mega-cap tech lost momentum, and capital rotated toward the markets that had initially been expected to struggle under Trump&#8217;s second term.
One of the most striking reversals was Tesla.
Shares of the EV-maker had soared more than 70% between the election and inauguration, fueled by speculation that Elon Musk's collaboration with the Trump administration — via the Department of Government Efficiency — would have given his companies (also including SpaceX) inside access to major federal contracts.
But the alliance quickly soured, and Tesla's stock began a sharp downward spiral. 
Musk exited the DOGE in May and began openly clashing with Trump over fiscal priorities. Tesla shares have since plunged 25%, wiping out post-election gains. 
<h1 class="wp-block-heading">How The Dollar Slump Helped Flip Global Markets</h1>
Part of the market reversal that has occurred since January 2025 can be attributed to a sharp weakening in the dollar.
On Jan. 14, just days ahead of Trump's inauguration, the U.S. dollar index was at 110 — its strongest level since late 2022.
Fast forward six months, and the same index has slumped by 11%, hitting its lowest level in over three years.
This dollar drop is no coincidence. It reflects a growing market rethink around the U.S. relative economic strength, or what analysts call &#8220;American exceptionalism.&#8221;
Tariff tensions, a first-quarter recession, Moody's downgrade of the U.S. credit outlook and concerns over Trump's unfunded spending have eroded trust in the dollar's safe-haven role.
In aggregate, these dynamics have eroded confidence in the dollar as a safe-haven store of value, especially compared to equities in countries seen as "Trump's rivals."
The relative underperformance of U.S. markets and the dollar is forcing investors to reconsider a long-held assumption: that the U.S. economy and its markets would always lead during global uncertainty.

<h2 class="wp-block-heading">Are High-Beta Arenas The Next Market Move?</h2>
Sector-wise, this serenity has pumped up high-beta arenas. Tech-centric ETFs like the Technology Select Sector SPDR Fund (NYSE:<a class="ticker" href="https://www.benzinga.com/stock/XLK#NYSE">XLK</a>) and the VanEck Semiconductor ETF (NASDAQ:<a class="ticker" href="https://www.benzinga.com/stock/SMH#NASDAQ">SMH</a>) are pacing the gains while momentum names, especially the Magnificent Seven, continue to dominate flows. XLK has gained about 11% and SMH is up about 16% over the past month alone. The Mag 7-tracking Roundhill Magnificent Seven ETF (BATS:<a class="ticker" href="https://www.benzinga.com/stock/MAGS#BATS">MAGS</a>) is up 10.75% over the last month.
Meanwhile, defensive pockets like consumer staples and utilities aren't moving enough to signal that safety trades are safe.
Recent headlines may have cooled rising tensions with China and delivered solid jobs data, offering a backdrop of optimism. Some strategists even see room for the S&amp;P to drift to <a href="https://www.marketwatch.com/story/third-time-lucky-citi-changes-its-s-p-target-once-more-after-index-hits-6-000-bd3fac80">6,300</a> or beyond later this year. Yet complacency is a restless beast.
The real question now is whether this serene setup turns into a springboard for more upside… or an overdue reversal. Without obvious catalysts &#8211; Fed moves, unexpected inflation or global shocks &#8211; the market may stay mellow. 
But volatility has a reputation for snapping back suddenly. And when it does, high-growth and leveraged names are often the first to feel the burn.
For now, investors have a choice: ride the calm or prepare for the turbulence when it returns. Quiet markets are attractive. Just don't mistake that silence for safety.

In his post, Phan notes the dramatic performance gap between the stocks, despite the broader frenzy surrounding AI and digital transformation during this period. 
&#8220;Big Tech this, Big Tech that,&#8221; Phan says, pointing at the market&#8217;s obsession with these stocks, and yet the &#8220;big fluffy animal plush toys (Build-A-Bear)&#8221; managed to outperform big tech.
A few comments on Phan&#8217;s post credit Build-A-Bear&#8217;s rise to a shift in its strategy. According to Bryant Suellentrop, who runs a staffing agency, the company's pivot from marketing primarily to children toward engaging nostalgic adults with disposable income and access to a credit card played a key role in the stock&#8217;s surge.

Build-A-Bear Beats Big Tech: Plush Toy Retailer Outpaces Nvidia, Apple With Over 1,600% Returns In 5 Years

The Magnificent Seven did not disappoint in May, posting a <a href="https://www.benzinga.com/etfs/new-etfs/25/06/45722678/magnificent-seven-closed-a-blockbuster-may-added-nearly-2-trillion-in-market-value">record-breaking $1.75 trillion in collective market cap gain</a>, their strongest combined performance in years. 
The center of the mania: the Roundhill Magnificent Seven ETF (BATS:<a class="ticker" href="https://www.benzinga.com/stock/MAGS#BATS">MAGS</a>), which saw its best monthly performance since inception, powered by an AI-driven, earnings-supported technology surge.
But with valuations sky-high and Apple (NASDAQ:<a class="ticker" href="https://www.benzinga.com/stock/AAPL#NASDAQ">AAPL</a>) in reverse gear, is this still a time to buy, or has the market become too magnificent for its own good?
Benzinga spoke to David Mazza, <a href="https://www.benzinga.com/topic/david-mazza">CEO of Roundhill Investments</a>, to discuss the factors behind MAGS&#8217; &#8220;best month since inception&#8221; and whether the <a href="https://www.benzinga.com/etfs">ETF&#8217;s star status</a> still shines through in changing macro winds.

<h2 class="wp-block-heading">Broad-Based Gains, Not Just A One-Stock Show</h2>
&#8220;What stood out was the breadth of the rally,&#8221; Mazza said in an interview with Benzinga. &#8220;Nvidia (NASDAQ:<a class="ticker" href="https://www.benzinga.com/stock/NVDA#NASDAQ">NVDA</a>) led with a 24% gain, but Tesla (NASDAQ:<a class="ticker" href="https://www.benzinga.com/stock/TSLA#NASDAQ">TSLA</a>), Meta (NASDAQ:<a class="ticker" href="https://www.benzinga.com/stock/META#NASDAQ">META</a>), Microsoft (NASDAQ:<a class="ticker" href="https://www.benzinga.com/stock/MSFT#NASDAQ">MSFT</a>), Amazon (NASDAQ:<a class="ticker" href="https://www.benzinga.com/stock/AMZN#NASDAQ">AMZN</a>), and Alphabet (NASDAQ:<a class="ticker" href="https://www.benzinga.com/stock/GOOGL#NASDAQ">GOOGL</a>) also posted double-digit gains, signaling a broad-based resurgence in the mega caps.&#8221;
The tailwind, Mazza said, was fueled by easing trade tensions and healthy earnings, especially in AI and cloud. &#8220;While we anticipated strength from these companies, the magnitude and breadth of the rally exceeded expectations.&#8221;
Nvidia contributed alone with $639 billion worth of market cap, while Tesla and Meta were not far behind. Microsoft added $484 billion, Amazon increased by $219 billion, and Alphabet added $152 billion.

<h2 class="wp-block-heading">Apple Lags Behind, But MAGS Remains Firm</h2>
The sole laggard among the gang was Apple, which dropped 6%, erasing $192 billion in market capitalization and significantly underperforming the S&amp;P 500. Nevertheless, MAGS&#8217; equal-weighting approach prevented the decline from derailing the ETF&#8217;s performance.
&#8220;Apple&#8217;s underperformance, influenced by trade tensions and delayed AI initiatives, presents a potential buying opportunity,&#8221; Mazza said, highlighting the stock&#8217;s solid ecosystem and diversified manufacturing strategy.
<h2 class="wp-block-heading">Why The Magnificent Seven Still Matter</h2>
More than mere tech giants, Mazza views the Magnificent Seven as critical plumbing to the economy of today. These firms drive everything from cloud computing to e-commerce, he said. &#8220;MAGS focuses exclusively on these companies, providing targeted exposure to the core drivers of modern economic growth.&#8221;
As opposed to the broad tech ETFs that encompass legacy or cyclical names, MAGS is laser-like. And while volatility clouds traditional sectors, some analysts, including Goldman Sachs, have referred to these mega-caps as a &#8220;defensive growth proxy.&#8221;
Mazza does too.
&#8220;These companies combine strong growth prospects with resilient business models, making them attractive during uncertain times. Goldman Sachs&#8217; characterization of them as a &#8216;defensive growth proxy&#8217; aligns with our view,&#8221; he agreed.
<h2 class="wp-block-heading">The Question Of Valuation: Bubble Or Justified?</h2>
With the Magnificent Seven's forward P/E ratio now pushing 27.4x, the ghost of the dot-com bubble inevitably enters the chat. But Mazza sees a key difference.
"While the group&#8217;s median forward P/E ratio has risen to around 27x, it&#8217;s important to note that these valuations are supported by substantial earnings growth and strong fundamentals," he said. "Unlike the dot-com era, these companies are profitable and generate significant cash flow," Mazza noted. Nvidia, for example, posted a 69% YoY revenue jump last quarter.
<h2 class="wp-block-heading">Earnings Outlook And The AI Edge</h2>
Mazza is also optimistic about earnings, citing the group&#8217;s leading position in AI, cloud, and digital services. &#8220;Given their central roles in AI, cloud computing, and digital services, we anticipate continued earnings momentum as demand for these technologies persists and expands across various sectors.&#8221;
While MAGS provides exposure to high-cap AI adopters, Roundhill also has the CHAT ETF available for investors wanting more focused plays on Generative AI.
&#8220;We view AI as a transformative force with long-term implications. The companies within MAGS are not only early adopters, but also key enablers of AI technologies,&#8221; Mazza clarified. 
<h2 class="wp-block-heading">What&#8217;s Next For MAGS?</h2>
Even with the monster rally, Mazza dampens expectations for the remainder of 2025.
&#8220;We don't expect a repeat of the massive gains we saw in the past year, but that doesn't mean the story is over,&#8221; he conceded. &#8220;If earnings growth remains solid and rate expectations stay in check, MAGS could still deliver compelling returns, just more measured than the blockbuster runs we&#8217;ve recently witnessed.&#8221;
With the market still characterized by uncertainty, Mazza feels that Magnificent Seven&#8217;s growth, quality, and macro sensitivity are an elusive combination.
These companies are essential to enterprise and consumer activity,&#8221; he said. &#8220;And MAGS is built to give investors direct exposure to that durability.&#8221;

May might have been magnificent, but the future of MAGS will be more measured, not muted. For those who want a high-conviction wager on AI, cloud, and the core players in the digital economy, Mazza makes the case the ETF is a singularly focused yet compelling entry point.

Coinbase made history last month <a href="https://www.benzinga.com/analyst-ratings/price-target/25/05/45416971/coinbase-becomes-first-pure-play-crypto-stock-in-sp-500-analyst-sees-major-institutional-upside">after it became</a> the first pure-play cryptocurrency stock to join the S&amp;P 500 Index, the widely used benchmark for the U.S. stock market.

Coinbase Crushed Tesla, Amazon And Other Mag 7 Peers In Recent Rally — Here's What Drove The Stunning Comeback

The Invesco QQQ Trust, Series 1 (NASDAQ:<a class="ticker" href="https://www.benzinga.com/stock/QQQ#NASDAQ">QQQ</a>), Wall Street's go-to tech fund, just recorded its second-largest monthly inflow on record, as investors chased an impressive rally in the Nasdaq 100 index powered by a trade war truce <a href="https://www.benzinga.com/etfs/new-etfs/25/06/45722678/magnificent-seven-closed-a-blockbuster-may-added-nearly-2-trillion-in-market-value">and Magnificent Seven dominance.</a>
The QQQ ETF pulled in $7.2 billion of net inflows in May, according to TradingView&#8217;s fund flow data. That marks the second-largest monthly inflow in the ETF's 10-year history, only trailing November 2024's $9.2 billion surge that followed Donald Trump's presidential victory.
Fueled by a 9% rally in the Nasdaq 100 — its best month since November 2023 — the fund crossed $330 billion in assets under management, consolidating its position as the fifth-largest ETF globally.

<h3 class="wp-block-heading">What Sparked The Inflows?</h3>
The rally followed a breakthrough in U.S.-China trade relations. On May 11, both countries agreed to a 90-day trade truce, slashing average tariff rates by 115 percentage points.
U.S. tariffs on Chinese goods dropped from 145% to 30%, while Beijing reduced duties on American imports from 125% to 10%.
"The temporary deal puts greater pressure on the two countries to develop a mutually amicable agreement," LPL Financial chief economist Jeffrey Roach said in a recent note.
The deal provided immediate relief to export-heavy sectors — especially tech hardware, semiconductors and software services — and helped fuel the Nasdaq's broad-based rally.
<h3 class="wp-block-heading">Magnificent Seven&#8217;s Dominance Strengthens</h3>
The Magnificent Seven stocks played a central role in QQQ's surge, continuing the momentum from their historic $1.75 trillion of combined market-cap gain in May.
Nvidia Corp. (NASDAQ:<a class="ticker" href="https://www.benzinga.com/stock/NVDA#NASDAQ">NVDA</a>) jumped 23.5%, becoming the second-best performing Nasdaq 100 stock in the month. 
Tesla Inc. (NASDAQ:<a class="ticker" href="https://www.benzinga.com/stock/TSLA#NASDAQ">TSLA</a>) gained 20.9%, while Meta Platforms Inc. (NASDAQ:<a class="ticker" href="https://www.benzinga.com/stock/META#NASDAQ">META</a>) and Microsoft Corp. (NYSE:<a class="ticker" href="https://www.benzinga.com/stock/MSFT#NYSE">MSFT</a>) posted monthly gains of 19.4% and 16.5% respectively.
These megacap tech names are viewed by institutional investors as &#8220;defensive growth proxies&#8221;, according to Goldman Sachs' Ryan Hammond, citing their strong earnings and relevance in AI, cloud computing and enterprise infrastructure.
Roundhill Investments CEO David Mazza, whose firm manages the Roundhill Magnificent Seven ETF (NYSE:<a class="ticker" href="https://www.benzinga.com/stock/MAGS#NYSE">MAGS</a>), said these companies "aren't speculative bets on future adoption," but rather, "staples within global consumers' lives."

QQQ ETF Just Saw Its Second-Best Month Of Inflows Ever: Here's Why

The Magnificent Seven etched a historic chapter in market history in May 2025, delivering blockbuster gains and an eye-popping $1.75 trillion surge in combined market capitalization, their strongest <a href="https://www.benzinga.com/topic/magnificent-seven">monthly performance in years.</a>

(NASDAQ:<a class="ticker" href="https://www.benzinga.com/stock/NVDA#NASDAQ">NVDA</a>), Tesla Inc. (NASDAQ:<a class="ticker" href="https://www.benzinga.com/stock/TSLA#NASDAQ">TSLA</a>), Meta Platforms Inc. (NASDAQ:<a class="ticker" href="https://www.benzinga.com/stock/META#NASDAQ">META</a>), Microsoft Corp. (NASDAQ:<a class="ticker" href="https://www.benzinga.com/stock/MSFT#NASDAQ">MSFT</a>), Amazon.com Inc. <h3 class="wp-block-heading">Who Gained The Most?</h3>
Nvidia led the pack with a 24.2% gain, marking its strongest month since May 2024. The chipmaker, a key player in the AI race, added a staggering $639 billion in market cap. 
Tesla jumped 21.5%, growing its value by $207 billion, while Meta Platforms rallied 19.4%, adding $242 billion. Microsoft gained 16.8%, contributing another $484 billion to the total surge.
Amazon added $219 billion, climbing 10.7%, and Alphabet rose 5.3%, adding $152 billion.

Apple was the lone laggard, falling 6% in May and wiping out $192 billion in market cap. This underperformance, compared to the S&amp;P 500's 6% gain, marks Apple's worst relative showing since 2018.
Historical patterns, however, suggest the dip might be a buying opportunity. As detailed in <a href="https://www.benzinga.com/general/education/25/05/45675595/apple-eyes-worst-month-vs-sp-500-since-2018-but-history-says-buy-the-dip-now">a recent Benzinga analysis</a>, Apple has often rebounded strongly after periods of relative weakness.
<h3 class="wp-block-heading">Why Analysts See More Upside</h3>
Goldman Sachs analyst Ryan Hammond said he&#8217;s watching for the Magnificent Seven to outperform the broader market this summer, citing earnings strength and their defensive appeal.
"Supercap Tech will act as a ‘defensive growth proxy,' and this is exactly what investors want during what will remain highly uncertain times," Hammond said in a Monday note.
He added that the group posted its best quarterly positive earnings-per-share surprise since the third quarter of 2023.
David Mazza, CEO of Roundhill Investments — which manages the Roundhill Magnificent Seven ETF — echoed the bullish sentiment, emphasizing that these companies are not speculative growth plays.
"These companies aren't speculative bets on future adoption," Mazza said. "They are the infrastructure of the real economy and, in some cases, staples within global consumers' lives."
Mazza believes exposure to themes like enterprise demand, AI, cloud computing and automation will prove more resilient than traditional sectors such as consumer staples or utilities.
"MAGS offers diversified exposure to this rare blend of growth, quality, and macro relevance," he said. "In a world where clarity is scarce, the Magnificent Seven remain, ironically, the most grounded in real earnings and economic activity."
<h3 class="wp-block-heading">Yet Valuations Are Stretching Again</h3>
Ed Yardeni, president of Yardeni Research, said in an emailed comment last week that the S&amp;P 500's forward price-to-earnings ratio rose from 18.0 in early April to 21.5 by the end of May.
He added that most of this jump came from the Magnificent Seven, whose group valuation climbed from 21.9 to 27.4 — showing strong investor demand for top tech stocks but also raising concerns that they may be getting too expensive.

Magnificent Seven Closed A Blockbuster May, Added Nearly $2 Trillion In Market Value

The co-founder and executive chairman of Strategy Inc. (NASDAQ:<a class="ticker" href="https://www.benzinga.com/stock/MSTR#NASDAQ">MSTR</a>), Michael Saylor, isn&#8217;t shying away from showcasing the success of his &#8216;Bitcoin Treasury&#8217; gambit, which is now several years in the making, with a handful of copy-cats in the fray.
What Happened: On Sunday, Saylor took to X, sharing a chart showing the 3-month performance of different stocks, commodities, and cryptocurrencies, which of course, included Microstrategy, which now conducts business under the brand name of &#8216;Strategy.&#8217;
The chart shows the company&#8217;s 44% 3-month return, far outpacing the Magnificent 7 stocks, which, barring Tesla Inc. (NASDAQ:<a class="ticker" href="https://www.benzinga.com/stock/TSLA#NASDAQ">TSLA</a>), Microsoft Corp. (NASDAQ:<a class="ticker" href="https://www.benzinga.com/stock/MSFT#NASDAQ">MSFT</a>), and Nvidia Corp. (NASDAQ:<a class="ticker" href="https://www.benzinga.com/stock/NVDA#NASDAQ">NVDA</a>), are either flat or have witnessed steep declines during this period.

The stock has outpaced even Gold, tracked by the SPDR Gold Trust (NYSE:<a class="ticker" href="https://www.benzinga.com/stock/GLD#NYSE">GLD</a>), the Invesco QQQ Trust (NASDAQ:<a class="ticker" href="https://www.benzinga.com/stock/QQQ#NASDAQ">QQQ</a>), which tracks the Nasdaq, and the SPDR S&amp;P 500 ETF Trust (NYSE:<a class="ticker" href="https://www.benzinga.com/stock/SPY#NYSE">SPY</a>).
Most importantly, however, the stock has outpaced Bitcoin, which grew 22% during these three months, or just about half of what Strategy has delivered to its investors.
Saylor showcased this performance while cheekily writing &#8220;your portfolio needs a strategy&#8221; in his X post. Replies to the post, however, pointed out that he conveniently missed out on Bitcoin miner, MARA Holdings Inc. (NASDAQ:<a class="ticker" href="https://www.benzinga.com/stock/MARA#NASDAQ">MARA</a>), and GameStop Corp. (NYSE:<a class="ticker" href="https://www.benzinga.com/stock/GME#NYSE">GME</a>), another treasury firm, which have posted returns of 2.4% and 22.13% during this period.

Why It Matters: This is rather surprising, since the company&#8217;s rise to prominence in recent years has been tied entirely to it becoming a proxy for Bitcoin. Starting in 2020, when it first pioneered the concept of corporate &#8220;Bitcoin Treasury,&#8221; the stock has since been <a href="https://www.benzinga.com/markets/cryptocurrency/24/08/40155839/bitcoin-development-company-microstrategy-plunges-almost-15-in-pre-market-whats-going-on">referred to as</a> a &#8220;Bitcoin Development Company.
However, it has long traded at a premium to its Bitcoin holdings, at 256% during November last year, which analysts attributed to its &#8220;Bitcoin Yield Strategy.&#8221; This is a <a href="https://www.benzinga.com/markets/cryptocurrency/24/11/42138209/microstrategy-trading-at-insane-256-premium-to-bitcoin-holdings-research-shows">controversial performance indicator</a> that highlights the ratio between its Bitcoin holdings and diluted equity shares.
According <a href="https://www.vaneck.com/us/en/blogs/digital-assets/matthew-sigel-deconstructing-strategy-mstr-premium-leverage-and-capital-structure/">to</a> a report by VanEck, Strategy still trades at a 112% premium to the face value of its Bitcoin holdings, which it attributes to the leverage it employs by issuing convertible debt and equity to fund its aggressive Bitcoin purchases.
In recent months, as tech stocks, along with broader markets, reel from trade and tariff-related uncertainties, Strategy continues to gain, with rising Bitcoin prices, which investors look upon as a <a href="https://www.benzinga.com/markets/cryptocurrency/25/04/44787283/is-bitcoin-a-safe-haven-if-ray-dalios-worse-than-a-recession-warning-comes-true">potential safe haven</a> during a recession.

Bitcoin overtook several Wall Street behemoths Wednesday to become the fifth-largest asset by market capitalization.
What happened: The leading cryptocurrency broke its all-time high, helped by a <a href="https://www.benzinga.com/markets/cryptocurrency/25/05/45517785/bitcoin-to-hit-500000-by-2028-standard-chartered-says-as-etfs-buy-667m-on-monday">growing wave of institutional inflows</a> and <a href="https://www.benzinga.com/25/05/45535042/recession-odds-tumble-on-kalshi-crypto-based-polymarket-as-trumps-tariff-concerns-subside">improved sentiment</a> around tariffs.
The rally pushed Bitcoin's market capitalization to $2.183 trillion, higher than some of the largest technology companies on the planet.
As seen from the table below, Bitcoin was more valuable than Amazon, Google&#8217;s parent company Alphabet, Facebook's parent company Meta Platforms and the electric vehicle juggernaut Tesla, all of which are part of the high-performing &#8220;Magnificent 7&#8221; cohort.
The leading cryptocurrency has also outperformed Saudi Aramco, the world&#8217;s largest oil producer and most valuable energy company.
Additionally, Bitcoin's valuation was nearly double that of Warren Buffett's multinational holding company Berkshire Hathaway

From Warren Buffett's Berkshire Hathaway To Jeff Bezos' Amazon — Bitcoin Is Now Outshining These Wall Street Titans

Individuals have invested a record $122 billion into <a href="https://www.benzinga.com/etfs">equity ETFs</a> so far this year. 
According to Goldman Sachs, that&#8217;s double the inflows since mid-March, despite the broader market losing footing and headlines turning bearish.
Conversely, the pros are exciting. Institutional investors have taken about $25 billion out of the market this year, selling into strength as Main Street loaded up on what they perceive as bargains. And retail investors have been net sellers on only six trading days since March 1.

<h3 class="wp-block-heading">Three ETFs Are Crowd Darlings</h3>

<li>SPDR S&amp;P 500 ETF Trust (NYSE:<a class="ticker" href="https://www.benzinga.com/stock/SPY#NYSE">SPY</a>): The veteran. SPY is the default ETF for overall U.S. market exposure, and its consistent inflows indicate that retail investors continue to wager on the resilience of the American economy. So far this year, the fund is up 1.5%.</li>

<li>Invesco QQQ Trust (NASDAQ:<a class="ticker" href="https://www.benzinga.com/stock/QQQ#NASDAQ">QQQ</a>): The growth darling. With the AI rally in motion, QQQ, which tracks the Nasdaq 100, is seeing flows from investors surfing the wave of Nvidia (NASDAQ:<a class="ticker" href="https://www.benzinga.com/stock/NVDA#NASDAQ">NVDA</a>), Microsoft (NASDAQ:<a class="ticker" href="https://www.benzinga.com/stock/MSFT#NASDAQ">MSFT</a>), and other AI leaders. It&#8217;s less a bet on diversification and more on innovation. The fund has gained 1.8% this year thus far.</li>

Retail, meanwhile, is embracing the volatility, sure (or maybe convinced) that any selloff is just another chance to buy.
This impasse, Wall Street versus Main Street, begs the question: who&#8217;s right?
History has taught us that both sides are capable of error. But at present, retail investors are purchasing with conviction, coffee, and an affection for ticker symbols beginning with &#8220;Q&#8221; or rhyming with &#8220;swag.&#8221;

MAGS, QQQ, SPY Fly Off The Shelves: Unfazed Retail Buyers Pump In Record $122B While Wall Street Loses Nerve

The Magnificent Seven – minus Nvidia Corp. (NASDAQ:<a class="ticker" href="https://www.benzinga.com/stock/NVDA#NASDAQ">NVDA</a>), which is due to report earnings this week – delivered a stunning earnings beat in the first quarter of 2025, surpassing timid Street expectations and sending a clear message: the foundations of <a href="https://www.benzinga.com/tech">Big Tech's dominance remain firm.</a>
The six tech giants that have reported so far delivered an average EPS growth of 28% year over year — nearly three times the 9% pace seen across the rest of the S&amp;P 500.
They didn't just grow, they blew past expectations. Consensus estimates were exceeded by 16%, marking the most significant earnings surprise since the second quarter of 2021, when the group beat forecasts by 27%.
<h3 class="wp-block-heading">Big Tech Just Delivered Its Best Quarter In Four Years</h3>
Alphabet Inc. (NASDAQ:<a class="ticker" href="https://www.benzinga.com/stock/GOOGL#NASDAQ">GOOGL</a>) and Amazon.com Inc. (NASDAQ:<a class="ticker" href="https://www.benzinga.com/stock/AMZN#NASDAQ">AMZN</a>) were standouts. Alphabet delivered 48.7% EPS growth and beat expectations by nearly 39%. Amazon posted a 62.2% earnings jump, crushing its EPS estimate by over 16%.
Meta Platforms Inc. (NASDAQ:<a class="ticker" href="https://www.benzinga.com/stock/META#NASDAQ">META</a>) followed with 36.5% growth, while Microsoft Corp. (NASDAQ:<a class="ticker" href="https://www.benzinga.com/stock/MSFT#NASDAQ">MSFT</a>) delivered 17.7%. Apple Inc. (NASDAQ:<a class="ticker" href="https://www.benzinga.com/stock/AAPL#NASDAQ">AAPL</a>) showed more modest growth of 7.8% but still edged out its target.
The laggard was Tesla Inc. (NASDAQ:<a class="ticker" href="https://www.benzinga.com/stock/TSLA#NASDAQ">TSLA</a>), whose EPS fell 40% year-over-year, missing the mark by over 34%.

<h3 class="wp-block-heading">MAGS ETF Rebounds, But Remains Underwater in 2025</h3>
The Roundhill Magnificent Seven ETF (NYSE:<a class="ticker" href="https://www.benzinga.com/stock/MAGS#NYSE">MAGS</a>), a tracker of these tech titans, has surged 34% from its April 7 lows, outpacing the SPDR S&amp;P 500 ETF Trust's (NYSE:<a class="ticker" href="https://www.benzinga.com/stock/SPY#NYSE">SPY</a>) 23% gain and Invesco QQQ Trust's (NASDAQ:<a class="ticker" href="https://www.benzinga.com/stock/QQQ#NASDAQ">QQQ</a>) 29% rally over the same period.
However, MAGS ETF remains 5% lower year-to-date. According to Dave Mazza, CEO at Roundhill Investments, this year&#8217;s drawdown reflected "increasing skepticism around valuations, sector concentration, and the growing impact of global trade disruptions." 
"These companies aren't speculative bets on future adoption," the expert noted. "They are the infrastructure of the real economy and, in some cases, staples within global consumers' lives."
Unlike previous cycles of concentrated market leadership, such as the Dot-Com boom, today&#8217;s leaders are not speculative growth stories but entrenched players in AI, cloud and automation.
Mazza highlighted that institutional flows into MAGS "remain relatively resilient," indicating long-term conviction hasn&#8217;t fully eroded.
All Eyes On Nvidia: The Final Piece Of The Puzzle
All eyes now turn to Nvidia, set to report earnings on May 28. 
Analysts expect EPS of $0.88, up 43% from the same quarter last year. Revenue estimates stand at $43.2 billion, which would represent a staggering 66% year-over-year increase. 
If those numbers hold, Nvidia could reinforce the Magnificent Seven's bullish narrative — and potentially lift the elite group of tech stocks into positive territory for the year.
