Elon Musk&#8216;s announcement of the formation of the America Party has drawn the attention of several prominent figures, including Mark Cuban <a href="https://www.benzinga.com/news/25/03/44348205/scaramucci-sees-trouble-ahead-for-musk-trump-relationship-everyone-flames-out-with-trump">and Anthony Scaramucci</a>.
What Happened: On Saturday, Musk, a previous supporter of President Donald Trump, revealed the creation of the new party after a disagreement with Trump over his spending bill.
Musk, who is a naturalized U.S. citizen born abroad, is ineligible to run for president but can endorse third-party candidates. On July 4, he conducted a poll asking if people desired a new party, with a majority of 65.4% respondents in favor. Subsequent to the poll, Musk declared the establishment of the America Party on X.

'Not Looking To Stop': Trump Slams Putin on Ukraine, Speaks With Zelenskyy

President Donald Trump has declared that the U.S. is set to begin negotiations with China on a potential deal involving TikTok. The discussions are expected to kick off as early as the coming week.
What Happened: Trump has unveiled plans to initiate talks with China concerning the sale of TikTok. &#8220;We pretty much have a deal,&#8221; Trump announced on Friday, hinting that the negotiations could start as early as Monday or Tuesday.
"I think we're gonna start Monday or Tuesday, talking to China, perhaps President Xi Jinping or one of his representatives, but we pretty much have a deal," Trump said. 
According to the Reuters&#8217; report, Trump&#8217;s announcement came on the heels of a report by The Post&#8217;s Charles Gasparino that a potential buyer for the Chinese-owned app had been identified. 
However, the real hurdle lies with the seller. The deal is expected to necessitate China&#8217;s approval, as TikTok has emerged as a significant factor in the ongoing US-China trade negotiations.
Furthermore, Trump has granted an extension to TikTok&#8217;s parent company,&nbsp;ByteDance, to divest its US assets by September 17. This is the third extension since Trump&#8217;s re-entry&nbsp;to the White House in&nbsp;January.

When questioned about his confidence in China agreeing to the deal, Trump replied, &#8220;I&#8217;m&nbsp;not confident, but I think&nbsp;so. President Xi and I&nbsp;have a great relationship, and&nbsp;I think it&#8217;s&nbsp;good for them. I think&nbsp;the deal is good for&nbsp;China, and it&#8217;s good for us.&#8221;

Donald Trump Announces Upcoming Talks With China On TikTok: 'We Pretty Much Have A Deal'

Bill Gates and Elon Musk are two of the richest men in the world and <a href="https://www.benzinga.com/trading-ideas/movers/25/06/46080769/tesla-robotaxi-rollout-bill-gates-elon-musk">at times enemies</a> who don't agree on much. When it comes to thoughts on drinking, the two may have more in common than they know.
What Happened: A social media thread in 2023 by entrepreneur and investor&nbsp;Marc Andreessen&nbsp;caught the attention of&nbsp;Elon Musk. The thread called for the elimination of alcohol consumption.
Here's what Musk had to say about alcohol and how Bill Gates factors into the sector.
Andreessen shared in the Twitter thread that he stopped drinking alcohol six months earlier.
"I feel much better, and I'm mad as hell about it. I never really drank through my 20s and 30s, but grew to really enjoy whiskey through my 40s, coincident with ‘Mad Men,' and roughly a thousand academic studies that proved that alcohol is actually good for you," Andreessen tweeted.
Andreessen said his quote of "The perfect day is 10 hours of caffeine followed by 4 hours of alcohol" has been widely used and might still be true.
"In recent years, it's become clear that most or all —&nbsp;probably all —&nbsp;of the scientific studies on the benefits of alcohol are fake, the scientists unwitting or witting victims of selection effects."
Andreessen said he feels better since giving up alcohol and has gotten better sleep.
Musk replied to the tweet with his own thoughts on alcohol.
"Once you acknowledge that alcohol is poison, it's fine to drink a little. The trade is a small amount of health for an even smaller amount of fun, but that's not crazy to do once in a while with friends," Musk&nbsp;<a href="https://twitter.com/elonmusk/status/1631012111101972486" target="_blank" rel="noreferrer noopener">said</a>.
Musk called alcohol "a legacy drug" in his tweet.
In a 2018 "ask me anything" on Reddit, Bill Gates said he wasn't much of a beer drinker.
"I am not a big beer drinker. When I end up at something like a baseball game I drink light beer to get with the vibe of all the other beer drinkers. Sorry to disappoint real beer drinkers," Gates said at the time.
Gates comments were in the news at the time with&nbsp;<a href="https://www.benzinga.com/news/23/02/31015357/bill-gates-isnt-a-big-beer-drinker-but-just-bought-a-4-stake-in-this-global-brewery" target="_blank" rel="noreferrer noopener">the billionaire investing</a>&nbsp;in&nbsp;Heineken N.V.&nbsp;(OTC:<a class="ticker" href="https://www.benzinga.com/stock/HEINY#OTC">HEINY</a>), one of the largest global brewers.

The Impact of Beer:&nbsp;Gates investment in Heineken drew mixed reactions due to his comments on beer and a study funded by the Bill and Melinda Gates Foundation that showed there are no benefits and only risks for young adults drinking alcohol.
In 2022, a study of people under the age of 40 showed that drinking even two teaspoons of wine per day or two and a half tablespoons of beer per day could risk future health. Texas Governor Greg Abbott has&nbsp;declared Sunday a day of&nbsp;prayer for the state, urging Texans to pray for the lives lost, those still missing, and the recovery of the affected communities.

He argued that true builders master a razor-sharp "signal-to-noise ratio." Steve Jobs was &#8220;80 signal, 20 noise," O'Leary said, mentioning that he sees a similar trait in Tesla Inc. (NASDAQ:<a class="ticker" href="https://www.benzinga.com/stock/TSLA#NASDAQ">TSLA</a>) chief Elon Musk. "Elon Musk … he has no noise. 60 seconds of every minute, 60 minutes of every hour, the 18 hours he's awake, it's all signal. And look what he's achieved,&#8221; he added.

The creation of the America Party comes in the wake of President Donald Trump&#8216;s signing of a significant spending bill on July 4.
Musk expressed his disapproval of the bill&#8217;s spending measures and formed the new party as a countermeasure to what he views as a flawed two-party system.
Prior to his decision, Musk conducted a poll on X, querying voters about their desire for independence from the existing political framework. The poll garnered over 1.2 million votes, with a majority of 65.4% favoring the establishment of a new political party.
Musk announced the results of the poll on Saturday, stating,&nbsp;&#8220;By a factor of 2&nbsp;to 1, you want a&nbsp;new political party and you&nbsp;shall have it.&#8221; He further explained that the America Party was created to &#8220;give you back your freedom.&#8221;

Bulls were on parade last week, with the Dow Jones Industrial Average leading the rally higher. It finished up 2.30% on the week, but fell just short of a new all-time high. We're starting to see greed creep back into the tape, and I'm not ruling out a blowoff top at this point. Still, any dips that follow through should be bought, especially on the crypto side of the market. Stimulus is coming, as the only way out of this fiscal mess is to grow our way out of it. We have an abbreviated report this week due to the holiday. Take some time to rest! It's very important especially in these markets.

<h3 class="wp-block-heading">What's the Story on Jobs?</h3>
It seems to be a recurring theme over the past several months where the ADP and BLS employment reports show completely different narratives. This happened again last week where the ADP report showed a weakening labor market, but BLS showed a resilient one.
So, what's the real story? All I know is I'm seeing more reports of companies laying off workers and hearing stories about people finding it more difficult to find work. Part of it has to do with artificial intelligence, but part of it is also cost-saving measures from companies.
We've been looking at September for the next rate cut. I would forget about a rate cut in July at this point. Between the new budget bill and rate cuts on the horizon, it looks like this market is about to get pumped to another level.
<h3 class="wp-block-heading">A Lull in the Headlines?</h3>
We have FOMC minutes this week, but don't let the absence of other data releases fool you. I'm looking right at the July 9 tariff deadline, which could potentially be a source for the market's next round of volatility.
Some deals have been struck although there appears to be some lingering issues with Japan and the European Union especially. At the end of the day, any exporting nation wants and basically needs to sell to the U.S. market.
And don't even get me started on the delusional idea that tariffs are inflationary. Nobody believes taxes are inflationary, and tariffs are a tax. You can agree or disagree with the idea of tariffs, but never let political biases creep into your portfolio. It's job is to make money, not be right.

Overall, the state of the stock market's sectors continues to point to bullish momentum and more upside. All of the right sectors continue to lead, and save for consumer discretionary (XLY), all of the right sectors continue to lag year-to-date.
Eight of the eleven S&amp;P sectors are solidly in positive territory year-to-date. Industrials (XLI) are still on top of the throne, but we saw quite a rebound from the communications (XLC) sector in recent sessions.

<h3 class="wp-block-heading">Comparing Leaders (Sector ETF: XLI/XLK)&nbsp;</h3>
I want to stack the two most important sectors of the moment this week to see where the money is flowing. Industrials (XLI) have been the leader year-to-date, but technology (XLK) has been the leader since the April 7 bottom.
This is reflected in the ratio chart between XLI and XLK, as it topped out in April and has been trending lower ever since. The big question now is whether we see a wedge formation or a channel, as these two scenarios suggest two very different outcomes.
If this is a channel, I expect XLK to keep outperforming XLI, but if this is a wedge, then we'll see XLK slow down and XLI reassume leadership. For the overall market, XLK leading is more bullish.

<h3 class="wp-block-heading">Junk Bonds Leading (Sector ETF: HYG/IEI)&nbsp;</h3>
You know what they say – credit leads – and when we see leadership from junk bonds (HYG), it's hardly a bearish signal, especially when it comes to its performance against 3-7 Year Treasuries (IEI).
Note how credit spreads blew out during the correction into the April 7 low. If anything, that was the event of the year, and the likelihood of that happening again in the next 6 months is not very high.
With respect to the longer-term trend, it was a higher-low, but it did take out the low from summer 2024. So, at this point, it's new all-time highs or bust for this ratio. If we're going to be bullish, we don't want to see this ratio turn sharply lower.

<h3 class="wp-block-heading">My Take:</h3>
Junk bonds trade like stocks more than bonds, hence their "junk" status. But when it's leading, it suggests a calm sailing environment. Bull markets climb a wall of worry, and the press does a great job at keeping people worried as all the signals point to higher prices ahead.
Junk bonds give us an idea on the state of liquidity. When market conditions worsen, people seek safety in Treasuries and higher-quality names. Obviously, junk bonds do not fall into that category of quality.

Don't be surprised if we finally see a liftoff in the price of Bitcoin in the coming days. It continues to consolidate above the critical $100,000-$105,00 support level that acted as major resistance throughout early 2025. Above this key technical level, bulls are in control of this market.
The duration of this wedge formation lends itself to the idea of a massive move coming. the very least, we're looking for it to go above 130,000-135,000, but I want to see a new all-time high in the coming days first.
It's still in an uptrend, but has spent the past several weeks consolidating near the highs, which as a rule, is bullish price action. There's no need to complicate things here, although I am starting to look at some other coins for even more upside. Stay tuned.

Rolling over a $1 million 401(k) to a financial advisor might seem like a smart move — but according to personal finance expert Suze Orman, there are some serious trade-offs to consider first.&nbsp;
In a <a href="https://omny.fm/shows/suze-ormans-women-and-money/ask-kt-suze-anything-throwing-money-at-a-problem-does-not-always-solve-it">recent episode</a> of the "Women &amp; Money" podcast, Orman shared her thoughts on a listener's situation and pointed out why early retirees should think twice before making the switch.
<h2 class="wp-block-heading">The Listener's Dilemma</h2>
The question came from Jeff, whose husband retired early at age 57. The couple has over $1 million saved in a 401(k), split between <a href="https://www.benzinga.com/personal-finance/financial-advisors/25/06/46123097/my-retired-friends-say-im-a-fool-for-converting-my-traditional-iras-to-a-roth-suze-ormans-reply-may-surprise-you">traditional and Roth accounts</a>. While Jeff said the advisor has been helpful with other investments, he's concerned about fees and whether moving the entire 401(k) is truly in their best interest.
<h2 class="wp-block-heading">Orman's Warning: You Could Lose Penalty-Free Access</h2>
Orman's main concern? Early access. She explained that because Jeff's husband retired at 57, he qualifies under IRS Rule 72(t), which allows penalty-free withdrawals from a 401(k) if someone leaves their job in the year they turn 55 or later. That flexibility would disappear with a rollover.
"If you roll it over to your financial adviser," Orman said, "you cannot touch that money until you are 59½ years of age."
So while taxes would still apply to withdrawals from the traditional portion, the penalty-free access could be a crucial safety net — especially in <a href="https://www.benzinga.com/personal-finance/management/25/07/46210567/this-is-just-a-necessary-spend-back-to-school-spending-holds-steady-despite-economic-uncertainties">uncertain times</a>.

Orman also raised a flag about the Roth portion. If Jeff doesn't already have a Roth IRA with the advisor, the rollover could restart the five-year waiting period before earnings can be withdrawn tax-free.
That means even Roth funds could be locked up longer than expected, depending on how the rollover is done.
<h2 class="wp-block-heading">Consider a Split Strategy</h2>
"You don't have to be an all-or-nothing investor," Orman pointed out. Instead of rolling over everything, Jeff could consider leaving part of the 401(k) — especially the traditional part — where it is. That way, early access remains available if needed.
Before moving funds, Orman suggests asking a key question: "Will the advisor earn you enough to cover the higher management fees compared to what you're already earning in the 401(k)?"

One last consideration: If Jeff rolls funds into a <a href="https://www.benzinga.com/personal-finance/25/05/45587754/i-contributed-after-tax-amounts-to-a-pre-tax-ira-can-i-withdraw-those-contributions-to-open-a-roth-account-heres-what-suze-orman-says">traditional IRA</a>, it may limit future strategies. Specifically, it could block the ability to do a backdoor Roth IRA conversion, which can be a valuable tax strategy for high earners.
"You won't be able to do a backdoor Roth if you have an IRA," Orman cautioned. "You will be able to do it if you have a traditional 401(k)."

Reckitt has opened applications for Catalyst. According to the company, the program will partner with Yunus Social Innovation, Acumen America, and the Health Innovation Exchange to identify entrepreneurs across more than 15 countries.

"We've got to get our act together," JPMorgan Chase &amp; Co. (NYSE:<a class="ticker" href="https://www.benzinga.com/stock/JPM#NYSE">JPM</a>) CEO Jamie Dimon <a href="https://www.youtube.com/watch?v=EpgB5PBWzHw">said </a>in late May, warning that poor governance, not China, could erode U.S. leadership.&nbsp;
Speaking at the Reagan National Economic Forum in Simi Valley, California, Dimon pointed to crumbling bridges, grid bottlenecks, and a $36.2 trillion federal debt to shrinking national prestige. He also warned that the dollar's reserve-currency crown could slip if Washington fails to correct course.

<h2 class="wp-block-heading">Enemy Within Tops China</h2>
Dimon said the real opponent of the U.S. is "the enemy within," pointing to stalled infrastructure, ballooning city pensions, and multiyear permit delays. Pointing to California's high‑speed rail project, he argued that domestic inefficiencies—like cost overruns and bureaucratic delays—undermine U.S. competitiveness more severely than any foreign adversary.
"America First is fine, as long as it doesn't end up being America alone," Dimon wrote in his April <a href="https://www.jpmorganchase.com/content/dam/jpmc/jpmorgan-chase-and-co/investor-relations/documents/ceo-letter-to-shareholders-2024.pdf">shareholder letter</a>, stressing that the U.S. cannot lead globally if it is paralyzed domestically. In the letter, Dimon urged Congress to streamline permits, upgrade the grid, and restore bipartisan discipline.

Federal Reserve Chair Jerome Powell <a href="https://www.federalreserve.gov/mediacenter/files/fomcpresconf20250507.pdf">said</a> during the press conference immediately following the Fed's interest rate decision last month that the debt path is "unsustainable," urging lawmakers to craft solutions before markets do it for them. He warned that growing debt and rising interest costs can crowd out private investment and reduce economic productivity, limiting the government&#8217;s ability to respond to future downturns.

Dimon's warning lands as Congress debates the "Big Beautiful Bill," a combination of tax cut and spending package. According to her, shifting to shorter-term debt would not be sensible.&nbsp;
Tesla Inc. Meanwhile, the Federal Reserve is scheduled to deliver its semiannual Monetary Policy Report to Congress this month, offering lawmakers fresh insight into inflation, growth, and interest rate trends.
