Wall Street kicked off the week in full risk-on mode after President Donald Trump softened his tone on China over the weekend, reversing much of Friday's sharp sell-off and reigniting risk <a href="https://www.benzinga.com/markets">appetite across asset classes.</a>

The S&amp;P 500 jumped 1.5%, clawing back more than half of its 2.7% drop from Friday — the index's worst session since April. The Nasdaq 100 surged nearly 2%, halving its prior 3.5% decline, and was on track for its best day since May. 



The Dow Jones Industrial Average rose 1.3%, while small-caps led the advance with the Russell 2000 up 2.3%.



The rebound came after Trump appeared to walk back his tariff threats on Chinese imports. 



&#8220;Don&#8217;t worry about China, it will all be fine! Highly respected President Xi just had a bad moment. He doesn&#8217;t want Depression for his country, and neither do I,&#8221; he wrote. 



Away from markets, Trump traveled to Israel to address the Knesset following the release of the first group of hostages from Hamas.

<h2 class="wp-block-heading">Chip Stocks Lead Market Comeback</h2>



Semiconductors spearheaded the rally. Broadcom Inc. (NASDAQ:<a class="ticker" href="https://www.benzinga.com/quote/AVGO">AVGO</a>) soared over 10% after OpenAI pledged a $500-billion investment to co-develop 10 gigawatts of custom AI<a href="https://www.benzinga.com/news/25/10/48176114/openai-broadcom-deal-amd-nvidia-chipmaker-ai-semiconductors"> accelerators with the chipmaker.</a> 



Other chipmakers followed suit. Arm Holdings plc (NASDAQ:<a class="ticker" href="https://www.benzinga.com/quote/ARM">ARM</a>) rebounded 8.8% after plunging 9.2% on Friday, while NVIDIA Corp (NASDAQ:<a class="ticker" href="https://www.benzinga.com/quote/NVDA">NVDA</a>), Advanced Micro Devices, Inc. (NASDAQ:<a class="ticker" href="https://www.benzinga.com/quote/AMD">AMD</a>), and Micron Technology, Inc. (NASDAQ:<a class="ticker" href="https://www.benzinga.com/quote/MU">MU</a>) each gained between 2% and 5%.



<h2 class="wp-block-heading">Commodities Surge: Gold And Silver Hit New Record Highs</h2>



The rally extended beyond equities. 



Copper jumped 6%, gold climbed 2.3% to a fresh record above $4,100 per ounce, and silver gained 3%, topping $51.63 as supply shortages persisted.



Materials stocks tracked the move higher. The Global X Lithium &amp; Battery Tech ETF (NYSE:<a class="ticker" href="https://www.benzinga.com/quote/LIT">LIT</a>) surged 8%, its best day since April 9, led by a 10% jump in Albemarle Corp. (NYSE:<a class="ticker" href="https://www.benzinga.com/quote/ALB">ALB</a>). 



The Global X Silver Miners ETF (NYSE:<a class="ticker" href="https://www.benzinga.com/quote/SIL">SIL</a>) advanced nearly 6%, mirroring gains in silver futures. 



Uranium and nuclear-related equities also rallied, with the VanEck Uranium and Nuclear Energy ETF (NYSE:<a class="ticker" href="https://www.benzinga.com/quote/NLR">NLR</a>) up 6.3%, powered by double-digit gains in NuScale Power Corp. (NYSE:<a class="ticker" href="https://www.benzinga.com/quote/SMR">SMR</a>) and Oklo Inc. (NYSE:<a class="ticker" href="https://www.benzinga.com/quote/OKLO">OKLO</a>).

Wall Street Rallies As Trump's Tariff Threat Fades, Broadcom Jumps 10%: What's Moving Markets Monday?

OpenAI is accelerating its push to dominate <a href="https://www.benzinga.com/topic/artificial-intelligence">the artificial intelligence landscape</a> with a staggering $500 billion chip initiative involving Broadcom Inc. (NASDAQ:<a class="ticker" href="https://www.benzinga.com/quote/AVGO">AVGO</a>).



On Monday, the company behind ChatGPT struck a multibillion-dollar agreement with Broadcom to co-design custom chips capable of powering its AI models, marking one of the most extensive semiconductor procurement campaigns in history.



According to the <a href="https://www.ft.com/content/bdaf9f30-f0a3-4bbc-aca7-86e609335e8a">Financial Times</a>, the deal could cost OpenAI between $350 billion and $500 billion, bringing its total chip capacity plans to over 26 gigawatts—comparable to the energy output of 26 nuclear reactors.



Chief Executive Sam Altman said the company has worked with Broadcom for 18 months to develop silicon tailored for AI inference, the computational process of responding to user queries. 



&#8220;The biggest joint industrial project in human history&#8221; is how Altman described the AI infrastructure push.



Broadcom CEO Hock Tan compared the AI revolution to the advent of the internet or railroads, calling it a "critical utility over time for 8 billion people globally."



Shares of Broadcom Inc. rallied as much as 9% during premarket trading in New York, on track to fully recoup losses from Friday.

<h2 class="wp-block-heading">Nvidia and AMD Deals Add to OpenAI's Chip Arsenal</h2>



The Broadcom pact follows two other major deals OpenAI recently signed in its AI hardware arms race. In September, OpenAI committed to a 10-gigawatt order from Nvidia. 



Last month, it added another 6 gigawatts with AMD, bringing the total across all three vendors to 26 gigawatts.



Nvidia's involvement includes a $100 billion equity investment into OpenAI, a move some analysts view as financially circular. James Schneider, an analyst at Goldman Sachs, noted that the structure resembles &#8220;circular revenue,&#8221; with Nvidia funding OpenAI only to recognize revenue when OpenAI purchases its GPUs back.



INvidia expects $13 billion in revenue from OpenAI in 2026. The company will reinvest $10 billion of its gross profit. Schneider said, "When equity investment comes from a supplier, additional scrutiny is warranted."



Meanwhile, AMD's agreement with OpenAI could be even more transformational. The deal includes up to 6 gigawatts of AMD Instinct GPU deployments, starting with 1 gigawatt of MI450 GPUs in late 2026. AMD will also issue OpenAI up to 160 million shares through performance-linked warrants—potentially worth $75 billion—if deployment milestones are met, including a $600 share price.



Goldman Sachs estimates the AMD deal represents a $135 billion revenue opportunity based on expected GPU pricing. AMD CFO Jean Hu said the partnership has the potential to generate &#8220;tens of billions of dollars in revenue&#8221; for the chipmaker.



<h2 class="wp-block-heading">How Will OpenAI Fund This $1.5 Trillion Infrastructure Bet?</h2>



Despite its relatively modest revenue base, OpenAI is committing to over $1.5 trillion in semiconductor and infrastructure spending over the next decade. That includes $300 billion in data center build-outs with Oracle Corp. (NYSE:<a class="ticker" href="https://www.benzinga.com/quote/ORCL">ORCL</a>).



Each gigawatt of AI capacity requires about $50 billion in total investment—$35 billion for chips and $15 billion for infrastructure. Broadcom's chips are expected to be cheaper than Nvidia's, but even so, the economics are eye-watering.



The company's strategy signals a shift toward vertical integration, involving the design of its own chips, securing dedicated compute power, and minimizing reliance on third-party vendors.



Still, the sheer size of the investment raises critical questions.

China's Silence Is Scarier Than Tariffs—5 Ways It Could Hit Trump Hard

Bitcoin is back above $114,000 on Monday morning, following a liquidation event on Friday that saw many altcoins <a href="https://www.benzinga.com/crypto/cryptocurrency/25/10/48168733/bitcoins-flash-crash-over-weekend-prompts-analyst-to-sound-warning-on-btc-etfs-continuous-liquidity-essential-to-prudent-risk-management">lose 70% within minutes.</a>



Spot Bitcoin ETFs recorded $4.5 million in outflows on Friday, while spot Ethereum ETFs saw $174.8 million in net outflows.



In the past 24 hours, approximately 189,320 traders were liquidated for a total of $620.93 million. On Oct.10, liquidations reached $19.2 billion, with long positions accounting for $16.7 billion.



Could The Aftermath Of The 2020 Liquidation Candle Replay?



Ted Pillow <a href="https://x.com/TedPillows/status/1977668633858814095"> highlighted</a> that Bitcoin currently sits between two critical liquidity clusters: $109,000–$113,000 and $117,000–$121,000. 



Pillows also <a href="https://x.com/TedPillows/status/1977681768896713110">pointed</a> out that Bitcoin has been lagging global M2 money supply growth. Last week's market reset, however, suggests the worst may be behind us, and BTC could now begin catching up, with a potential $150,000 target by Q4 end.



For Ethereum, Pillows <a href="https://x.com/TedPillows/status/1977635537319244089">noted</a> a strong bounce above the $4,060 support, showing a V-shaped recovery. The next level to reclaim is $4,250, after which bulls may take full control.



Crypto Tony <a href="https://x.com/CryptoTony__/status/1977660328814207473">noted</a> that Solana remains strong above the $175 support zone, with a near-term target around $203, likely followed by a wave 2/B pullback. As long as bulls defend $190, upward momentum is expected to continue.

Strategy, Coinbase, Bitmine Surge In Pre-Market Trading: What's Driving Crypto Stocks Higher?

Last week, Altimeter Capital CEO Brad Gerstner described Advanced Micro Devices Inc.'s (NASDAQ:<a class="ticker" href="https://www.benzinga.com/quote/AMD">AMD</a>) <a href="https://www.benzinga.com/markets/tech/25/10/48039154/chatgpt-parent-openai-amd-partner-in-landmark-ai-deal">multi-billion-dollar deal</a> with Sam Altman's OpenAI as a "bet-the-farm" moment for CEO Lisa Su — one that could reshape the balance of power in the AI chip race currently dominated by Nvidia Corp. (NASDAQ:<a class="ticker" href="https://www.benzinga.com/quote/NVDA">NVDA</a>).



<h2 class="wp-block-heading">Gerstener Calls AMD's Move A High-Risk, High-Reward Gamble</h2>



Speaking on The All-In Podcast, Gerstner said Su's decision to grant OpenAI warrants for up to 160 million AMD shares — worth nearly 10% of the company — in exchange for a massive GPU purchase commitment shows how much is at stake.



"This is a bet-the-farm bet by Lisa Su," Gerstner said. "She's given away 10% of the company, if the compute gets deployed."



Under the deal, OpenAI will purchase up to six gigawatts of AMD's next-generation Instinct MI450X GPUs over the next five years — a contract analysts estimate could generate over $100 billion in revenue.



"Either the MI450 gets adopted and they get back into the game, or they're out," Gerstner added, noting that AMD's previous generation, the MI350, "was just not competitive" with Nvidia's offerings.



"She&#8217;s a total warrior. I think she believes in the MI450. She went to her board and she said, ‘Listen, we got to take the shot here. We got to bet the farm.' If it works, she&#8217;s going to get 150 billion of incremental revenue just from OpenAI," he stated.

<h2 class="wp-block-heading">AMD Aims To Regain Ground Lost To Nvidia</h2>



Gerstner illustrated how Nvidia has surged far ahead since 2022. "Two and a half years ago, Nvidia and AMD had basically the same revenue, around $25 billion," he said.



This year, Nvidia will do about $210 billion and AMD will do roughly $33 billion, he stated, adding that Nvidia has captured nearly 100% of the incremental AI data center revenue.



He credited Nvidia's dominance to its "ecosystem of software, networking and extreme co-design," saying the "unit of compute is no longer the chip — it's the entire data center."



AMD's partnership with OpenAI, he said, is a bold attempt to validate its new GPU architecture and claw back share in the booming AI accelerator market.



<h2 class="wp-block-heading">Energy And Supply Chains Become The New Bottlenecks</h2>



Co-host Chamath Palihapitiya added that the AI race is shifting toward control over energy and critical chip ingredients.&nbsp;



The companies that control those elements of the supply chain will come into power, he said, referencing <a href="https://www.benzinga.com/markets/tech/25/10/47968429/openai-taps-samsung-and-sk-hynix-for-massive-ai-data-push-including-new-korea-data-center">OpenAI's deals with South Korean memory</a> giants SK Hynix and Samsung Electronics Co.
