The trader opened a 15x leveraged&nbsp;short position on ETH on&nbsp;the decentralized perpetual trading platform&nbsp;Hyperliquid at an entry price of $2,793.81.
The trader has an unrealized profit of $1.80 million at the time of writing. The entire position would be liquidated if ETH rallies to $2,938.2

Even as May&#8217;s inflation print was better-than-expected, it snapped a four-month falling streak and rose slightly, hinting that firms absorbed some tariff-induced price hikes.
What Happened: &#8220;Surprisingly, new and used vehicle prices declined in May, despite many expecting an increase in prices from tariffs,&#8221; said the chief economist at LPL Financial, Jeffrey Roach.
According to him, prices for apparel and autos, &#8220;both highly sensitive to trade conditions, declined in May.&#8221; Apparel prices also declined in April, indicating that these companies likely &#8220;absorbed tariff costs.&#8221;
&#8220;But don't expect that to continue,&#8221; he added.
Comerica Wealth Management&#8217;s CIO, Eric Teal, reiterated Roach&#8217;s point and explained that tariffs have not yet shown up in consumer prices. &#8220;But a lot depends on the absorption rate of U.S. companies and foreign suppliers.&#8221;
Teal believed that the majority of the tariffs would eventually get passed to the consumer, &#8220;but companies are cautious at this juncture about passing along the price increase.&#8221;
Similarly, the chief economist at Comerica Bank, Bill Adams, said, &#8220;CPI cool in May, but price increases are still likely to accelerate in the second half of the year.&#8221;

Why It Matters: Contrary to the aforementioned views, the CIO at Northlight Asset Management, Chris Zaccarelli, believed that lower-than-expected numbers across the board and a trade deal with China that was agreed to in London would help &#8220;the narrative around tariff-induced inflation should subside.&#8221;
However, &#8220;we are still cautious, but many of the risks that were present in early April appear to be receding at this time,&#8221; Zaccarelli added.
On the other hand, Jamie Cox also believed that the disinflation trend should be intact in the coming months. &#8220;Shelter and energy are going to keep the disinflation trend intact &#8211; prices are moving down in two of the largest categories, so investors should expect further declines in inflation in the coming months,&#8221; he said.
Price Action: The SPDR S&amp;P 500 ETF Trust (NYSE:<a class="ticker" href="https://www.benzinga.com/stock/SPY#NYSE">SPY</a>) and Invesco QQQ Trust ETF (NASDAQ:<a class="ticker" href="https://www.benzinga.com/stock/QQQ#NASDAQ">QQQ</a>), which track the S&amp;P 500 index and Nasdaq 100 index, respectively, fell on Wednesday. Automotive And Apparel Companies 'Absorbed Tariff Costs' Amid Better Than Expected May CPI Print: 'But Don't Expect That To Continue,' Says Expert

General Motors Co. (NYSE:<a class="ticker" href="https://www.benzinga.com/stock/GM#NYSE">GM</a>) CFO Paul Jacobson says the company's <a href="https://www.benzinga.com/markets/large-cap/25/06/45876062/gms-4-billion-bet-on-us-auto-manufacturing-backs-hardworking-americans-amid-trump-tariffs-push">$4 billion investment</a> in its manufacturing units will help the Detroit-based automaker rebalance production amid U.S. President Donald Trump's tariff uncertainty.
What Happened: "&#8230;As we look at our landscape, as we look at the world around us, whether it&#8217;s the tariff situation, EV adoption, there&#8217;s a real opportunity to rebalance some of our manufacturing," Jacobson said while speaking <a href="https://finance.yahoo.com/news/gms-4-billion-us-plant-investment-will-allow-production-rebalance-in-light-of-tariffs-slowing-ev-adoption-214137972.html">to</a> Yahoo Finance.
The company had earlier said it would be moving some models like the Chevrolet Blazer and the Equinox out of its Mexico production facility and into the U.S. in 2027.
Jacobson also outlined a slowdown in EV demand in the U.S. and how the company's Orion plant is transitioning to produce full-size SUVs as well as pickup trucks. "It&#8217;s clear that EV demand has slowed a bit, so we&#8217;re able to fill that back at Factory Zero and really convert Orion to a much better-utilized plant for full-size SUVs," he said.
The CFO also said that GM's peak exposure to Trump's tariffs, as well as the impact of the tariffs, would come up in Q2 2025.
&nbsp;Why It Matters: The news comes in as GM has invested <a href="https://www.benzinga.com/tech/25/05/45640639/general-motors-to-invest-888-million-in-ny-v-8-engine-plant-despite-surge-in-ev-market-share">over $888 million </a>in its V-8 engine plant in Buffalo, New York, which marks the company's single largest investment in engine production.
The investment as well as rebalancing also coincides with GM's push for California to reverse <a href="https://www.benzinga.com/news/politics/25/06/45877556/trump-to-sign-resolution-barring-california-ev-mandate-adopted-by-11-other-states-report">its EV mandate</a>, which the company said does not align with market realities.
However, despite the push for ICE vehicles, GM still holds<a href="https://www.benzinga.com/25/05/45581386/gm-ev-sales-surge-in-the-us-amid-5-billion-blow-from-donald-trumps-automotive-tariffs"> a 14.4% EV market share</a> in the U.S. and is the second-largest EV maker in the country behind Tesla Inc. (NASDAQ:<a class="ticker" href="https://www.benzinga.com/stock/TSLA#NASDAQ">TSLA</a>).
Elsewhere, suppliers for the big three automakers in Detroit, including GM, <a href="https://www.benzinga.com/markets/tech/25/06/45826735/china-grants-temporary-rare-earth-licenses-to-us-automakers-suppliers">received temporary licenses</a> to export critical rare earth minerals and alloys from China, in what could prove to be a major boost for the company amid trade tensions.

General Motors CFO Says $4 Billion Investment Will Allow Company To Rebalance Production Amid Trump Tariffs

An Air India Boeing 787-8 Dreamliner by Boeing Co. (NYSE:<a class="ticker" href="https://www.benzinga.com/stock/BA#NYSE">BA</a>) crashed on Thursday near the Ahmedabad airport, with 242 passengers on board. The flight was en route to London Gatwick from Ahmedabad.
What Happened:&nbsp;The Air India flight, AI171, met with a tragic fate during takeoff from the Sardar Vallabhbhai Patel International Airport in Ahmedabad on Thursday.
The passenger aircraft, a Boeing 787 Dreamliner with a capacity of 300, crashed in the Meghani area of the city. Thick smoke was seen rising from Dharpur near Meghaninagar, suggesting a major fire likely caused by the substantial fuel load carried for the long-haul flight to London. Emergency response units and fire brigade teams have been deployed to the scene.
Boeing did not immediately respond to <a href="http://pro.benzinga.com">Benzinga&#8217;s</a> request for comment.
