Wall Street charged higher Tuesday, with U.S. equities posting broad-based gains by midday as investors embraced a risk-on mood, spurred by easing Treasury yields and renewed optimism surrounding trade talks between the U.S. and the European Union.



The bond market drove a major sentiment shift. U.S. 30-year Treasury yields sank 10 basis points to 4.93%, falling below the psychologically key 5% threshold for the first time in days. 



The iShares 20+ Year Treasury Bond ETF (NASDAQ:<a class="ticker" href="https://www.benzinga.com/stock/TLT#NASDAQ">TLT</a>) rallied 1.5%, eyeing the strongest daily gain since late February 2025. 



This move follows a surprise development in Japan, where the Ministry of Finance announced a reduction in the issuance of longer-dated government bonds. That decision triggered an 18-basis-point drop in Japan's 30-year yield, creating a ripple effect that eased pressure across global fixed-income markets.



The sharp decline in yields helped equities rally across the board. The S&amp;P 500 rose 1.9%, extending May&#8217;s gains to more than 6%. The benchmark is now tracking its strongest monthly performance since November 2023.



Technology and small-cap stocks outpaced broader benchmarks, adding momentum to the rally. Every sector in the S&amp;P 500 traded higher on the day. 



Among the mega-caps, Tesla Inc. (NASDAQ:<a class="ticker" href="https://www.benzinga.com/stock/TSLA#NASDAQ">TSLA</a>) stood out with a 6.4% gain, reclaiming price levels last seen in mid-February. 



As equity and bond sentiment improved, traditional safe-haven assets lost appeal. Gold prices fell 1%, slipping below $3,300 per ounce. The move reflects investors rotating out of defensive plays amid increasing appetite for risk.



In energy markets, crude oil dropped 1.5% to $60.50 a barrel, while copper prices slid 2.1%, signaling some caution in industrial demand despite the bullish tone in equities.



Bitcoin (CRYPTO: <a class="ticker" href="https://www.benzinga.com/quote/btc/usd">BTC</a>) traded near $110,000, remaining close to its all-time highs.

Wall Street Rockets As Bond Yields Drop, Tesla Hits 3-Month Highs: What's Driving Markets Tuesday?

A sharp rebound in inflation tied to Donald Trump's enacted trade tariffs could soon jolt markets, but Goldman Sachs believes this surge will be short-lived, driven by one-off price increases rather <a href="https://www.benzinga.com/topic/expert-ideas">than deeper economic overheating.</a>



In a Tuesday note, the bank's U.S. economist David Mericle said core personal consumption expenditures (PCE) inflation—the Federal Reserve's preferred gauge—will likely rise to 3.6% by the end of 2025. 



That's a notable climb from April's reading of 2.8%, yet Goldman doesn't expect the jump to signal a return to the entrenched inflationary conditions of 2021-2022.



<h3 class="wp-block-heading">Why This Inflation Shock Is Different</h3>



Unlike the pandemic-era inflation, which was powered by demand surges, tight labor markets and massive fiscal transfers, the current shock stems from a one-time shift in relative prices due to tariffs.



"We expect tariffs to provide a one-time price level boost," Mericle said, forecasting a roughly 2% rise in consumer prices over 18 months. 



Goldman estimates that that boost will push core PCE inflation higher by 1 percentage point before fading in 2026 as the base effect wears off.



Three factors support Goldman's benign outlook. 



First, the bank expects sluggish growth. GDP is projected to expand just 1% in 2025—well below its potential—while the unemployment rate drifts higher to 4.5%.



Second, the labor market appears to be normalizing as wage growth indicators have continued to ease. Goldman's composite measure of wage expectations now stands at 2.9%, a pace consistent with inflation below the Fed's 2% target.



Third, consumer dynamics are fundamentally weaker than during the pandemic era. Unlike in 2022, when stimulus checks fueled strong spending, today's consumers are more cautious, limiting businesses' ability to pass on higher costs and discouraging aggressive price hikes.



What Could Go Wrong?



While Goldman remains optimistic, it flags potential risks. Inflation expectations, particularly those measured by the University of Michigan's survey, have climbed past their 2022 highs. Long-term inflation expectations have also edged to multi-decade highs, even before the tariff hikes fully affect consumer prices.



"These are valid concerns," Mericle wrote, though argued technical factors likely exaggerate the Michigan data. Broader market measures of inflation compensation have not shown similar spikes.



A more troubling scenario would unfold if Trump's trade policy escalates further. 



"We would become more worried&#8230; if country-specific tariffs rise back to prohibitive rates," Mericle said, warning that sustained escalation into 2026 could spark supply chain disruptions, shortages and more durable inflation.



Fed Still On Track For Rate Cuts



Despite the tariff-induced inflation spike, Goldman remains confident the Federal Open Market Committee will resume rate cuts once the temporary price pressure fades. 



The firm expects the peak tariff effects to show in inflation data between May and August, with the first rate cut likely in December—assuming inflation shows signs of retraction.



Interest rate traders are pricing in just one 25-basis-point rate cut by the end of the year, according to CME FedWatch data.

Trump's Tariffs May Trigger An Inflation Shock - But Not A Lasting One, Goldman Sachs Says

Nvidia Corp (NASDAQ:<a class="ticker" href="https://www.benzinga.com/stock/NVDA#NASDAQ">NVDA</a>) may still be the emperor of AI's training stack, but Advanced Micro Devices Inc (NASDAQ:<a class="ticker" href="https://www.benzinga.com/stock/AMD#NASDAQ">AMD</a>) is making a compelling case to become the infrastructure king of everything else.



With Nvidia set to report first-quarter earnings on Wednesday, <a href="https://www.benzinga.com/quote/NVDA/earnings">Wall Street expects</a> fireworks &#8211; an EPS of 88 cents per share and revenue of $43.54 billion. The stock has surged 20.75% in the past month, and despite being slightly under its eight-day simple moving average (SMA), it&#8217;s flashing strong technicals.

NVDA stock is trading well above its 20, 50, and 200-day SMAs. With a MACD (moving average convergence/divergence) of 6.29 and RSI (relative strength index) nearing overbought at 63.8, the bulls are clearly in control.



Analysts remain solidly bullish. Recent ratings from Wedbush, BofA, and UBS peg an average price target of $170 — implying nearly 30% upside from current levels. NVDA isn't just the leader; it's still the benchmark.

<h2 class="wp-block-heading">AMD's Inference-Focused Strategy Finds Tailwinds</h2>



But AMD isn't trying to be Nvidia anymore, which might be the smartest move in the AI arms race.

While AMD has lagged over the past year, down 35.72%, the stock has bounced back 14.44% in the last month. Its recent technicals are mixed — it's trading below its eight-day SMA but above the 20 and 50-day SMAs. The 200-day still looms overhead, yet with a MACD of 4.30 and RSI of 57.67, buying pressure is building.



And then there's the narrative shift.



<h2 class="wp-block-heading">AI Infrastructure Is Evolving – And So Are Investor Preferences</h2>



As Shay Boloor <a href="https://x.com/StockSavvyShay/status/1926981712526881131">puts it</a>, AMD isn't chasing Nvidia&#8217;s crown — it's building a different kingdom. While Nvidia owns training, AMD is positioning for AI's deployment phase: edge computing, sovereign AI, cost-effective inference and modular stacks. Its MI300X chips and ROCm platform aren&#8217;t trying to out-CUDA CUDA — they're solving problems CUDA wasn't built for.

S&P 500 Dips For 4th Session Amid Trump's Tariff Threats: Investor Sentiment Declines, Fear Index Remains In 'Greed' Zone

U.S. stock futures climbed on Monday night following President Donald Trump&#8217;s decision to postpone the planned 50% tariff on the European Union until July 9.



The S&amp;P 500 Futures are up 0.94%, trading at 5,871, Nasdaq Futures trade at 21,189.75, up 1.03%, followed by Dow Futures at 42,027, up 0.85%, following the Memorial Day weekend.



This comes amid the EU&#8217;s trade commissioner, Maros Sefcovic, saying on Monday that he had &#8220;good calls&#8221; with Trump administration officials and was &#8220;fully committed&#8221; to reaching a trade deal by the extended deadline of 9 July, according <a href="https://apnews.com/article/europe-united-states-trade-tariff-deadline-79d65de51e5c935ff7cce1fcfd8fb755">to</a> an Associated Press report.



Sefcovic&#8217;s remarks follow the latest escalation in the trade war, with Trump <a href="https://benzinga.com/25/05/45604427/donald-trumps-eu-tariff-extension-will-see-profit-booking-in-gold-this-is-the-beginning-of-a-currency-war-which-will-eventually-affect-gold">threatening to impose</a> the 50% tariffs on EU imports, saying that the bloc had been &#8220;very difficult to deal with.&#8221;

What Happened: Bitcoin surged to an intraday high of $110,376.88 in the afternoon before dropping to a low of $107,600 overnight. Ethereum recorded a similar dip in the late hours.



The two blue-chip cryptocurrencies, BTC and ETH, saw slight increases in trading volumes, at 5.47% and 3.54%, respectively.&nbsp;



About $190 million was liquidated from the cryptocurrency market in the last 24 hours, with $136 million in bullish bets getting wiped out.



Bitcoin&#8217;s Open Interest was largely unchanged in the last 24 hours. Over the week, though, the money locked in derivatives has risen nearly 6%.



About 58% of top trader accounts on Binance with open BTC positions were short as of this writing.



The &#8220;Greed&#8221; sentiment prevailed in the market, as indicated by the Crypto Fear and Greed Index.

Analyst Notes: Blockchain analytics firm CryptoQuant highlighted the "deep conviction" of long-term Bitcoin holders.



"While overleveraged short-term traders were flushed out as Bitcoin's price dropped below $111,000 and $109,000, long-term holders have been quietly capitalizing on the reset," CryptoQuant said. "It's clear that long-term investors are using this period of forced selling to increase their exposure."

European Stocks Rally After Trump's 50% Tariff Delay, Dollar Hits 1-Month Low: What's Driving Markets Monday?

President Donald Trump's <a href="https://www.benzinga.com/general/space/25/05/45532125/l3harris-stock-moves-higher-after-being-named-in-golden-dome-missile-defense-system">May 21 announcement</a> of the Golden Dome, an ambitious missile-defense shield set to cost at least $175 billion, opened eyes in Washington, D.C.



It should open some eyes on Wall Street, too.



The proposed defense system is expected to usher in a new era of military defense tools that operate in space, primarily to defend against long-range missile attacks.  Modeled after Israel's "Iron Dome" multi-layered air defense system, the Golden Dome will likely include space-based interceptors, advanced radar technology, and early warning and satellite trackers that team up to thwart missile attacks against the U.S., according to a recent RBC Securities research note.



It&#8217;s already making investors pivot to defense contractors, and especially to smaller, more technologically nimble ones.



"I promised the American people that I would build a cutting-edge missile-defense shield to protect our homeland from the threat of foreign missile attack, and that's what we're doing," Trump stated in a May 21 Oval Office announcement, citing President Ronald Reagan's Star Wars space defense project from the 1980's. "Once constructed, the Golden Dome will be capable of intercepting missiles, even if they launched from the other side of the world and space."



Defense industry companies are already on board, with Lockheed Martin (NYSE:<a class="ticker" href="https://www.benzinga.com/stock/LMT#NYSE">LMT</a>) calling the Golden Dome a "Manhattan Project-scale mission, one that's both urgent and crucial to America's security" in a statement.



Foreign governments have also weighed in, with China's Foreign Ministry accusing the U.S. of threatening "global strategic balance and stability" and Canadian Prime Minister Mark Carney saying his country is conducting "high-level" discussions about Canada's participation in the project.



Meanwhile, stock market analysts are also taking a keen interest in the Golden Dome, with some signaling a pivot away from the major defense industry manufacturers and toward more technology-driven spaces and defense companies that would likely play a significant role in the Dome's development.



"There's a strong likelihood we'll see a shift away from traditional Primes like Boeing, Lockheed Martin and RTX toward a new wave of &#8216;New Space&#8217; and &#8216;New Defense&#8217; companies—most of which are still private. These include SpaceX, Stoke Space, Zeno Power, Anduril, Firefly, Xona, Lunar Outpost, Impulse Space, Gravitics, and many others that are building fast and innovating aggressively," said Viktor Shpakovsky, general partner at Beyond Earth Ventures.



"On the public markets, the truly &#8216;new space&#8217; options are still limited. Rocket Lab, Planet Labs, Intuitive Machines, Maxar, and a few others stand out, but it's a short list," he added.



Other market experts call for a public-private enterprise to spearhead the Golden Dome project, which Trump has said needs to be up and running by the time he leaves office.



"With private sector players already building real-time satellite constellations and hypersonic defense systems becoming a necessity due to geopolitical tensions (e.g., China, Russia), the concept isn't just viable — it's strategically necessary," said Md Tanjib, an analyst at Forex Prop Firms, a trading analysis and review platform. "The key difference now is that commercial tech and public-private partnerships are far more advanced, making implementation more plausible than it would've been decades ago."



With the development and timeline for the Golden Dome up in the air, here are the space and defense companies that should benefit from the $175 billion pouring into the project. $25 billion in initial funding is included in the GOP's "Big, Beautiful Tax Bill," which still has to clear the Senate as of writing.



<h2 class="wp-block-heading">L3Harris Technologies</h2>



RBC Securities analyst Ken Herbert cited L3Harris Technologies (NYSE:<a class="ticker" href="https://www.benzinga.com/stock/LHX#NYSE">LHX</a>), which is already up 5.5% on the Golden Dome news. The company got a shout-out from Sen. Jim Banks (R-Ind.), who attended the White House rollout. Given its deep ties to the high-altitude ballistic tracking sector, this seems to be a direct sign that LHX will contribute to the project.



Analysts feel the same, with Goldman Sachs' Noah Poponak holding his buy rating on LHX.



"LHX continues to see opportunity for margin expansion and free cash flow growth," said Poponak. "It also remains focused on cost and productivity improvement programs."



Given its record of stacking missile defense tracking systems contracts, expect LHX to be front and center on the Golden Dome.



<h2 class="wp-block-heading">Lockheed-Martin</h2>



Like LHX, the Bethesda, Md.-based aerospace giant Lockheed-Martin was called out by name at the White House Golden Dome event, according to a Truist research note, which should be a green light for opportunistic investors.



"LMT already plays a central role in space-based defense (e.g., missile detection and interception systems)," Tanjib said. "It's likely to be a front-runner in any government contracts related to space defense infrastructure."



The company is reportedly already lined up for a chunk of the initial $25 billion in the new GOP tax bill, which should include big paydays for missile defense specialists like LMT.



<h2 class="wp-block-heading">RTX</h2>



Formerly &#8220;Raytheon,&#8221; RTX (NYSE:<a class="ticker" href="https://www.benzinga.com/stock/RTX#NYSE">RTX</a>) specializes in radar technology, which should support the satellite shield that will serve as the Golden Dome's missile tracking centerpiece.



The Arlington, Va.-based aerospace and defense company outperformed in the first quarter of 2025, with sales and earnings running ahead of analyst expectations. Benchmark analyst Josh Sullivan upped his stance on RTX from a hold to a buy, with a $140 price target (it's trading at $132 per share as of May 23). In a new research note, he also called RTX a "peace through strength" stock. Cowen went a step further this week, moving its RTX target price from $142 to $155.



The company is also ideally situated for the Golden Dome largesse, as it already has deep relationships with government defense agencies, racking up billions of dollars in new contracts with the US Air Force, the Missile Defense Agency, and the US Navy. Add to the mix a healthy 2.05% dividend payout, and it's easy to see why analysts are so bullish on RTX shares.

<h2 class="wp-block-heading">Golden Cross Sparks Momentum Shift</h2>



The golden cross occurs when the 50-day moving average crosses above the 200-day moving average, signaling a shift in long-term momentum. It signals the onset of a bullish run. 



With BTC already smashing through $112,000 and comfortably above its key short-term moving averages, traders are reading this as a green light for more gains.



The chart doesn't lie. Bitcoin's eight-day, 20-day and 50-day simple moving averages all sit below the current price, reinforcing bullish momentum. The MACD (moving average convergence/divergence) indicator flashes a hefty +3,824 and the RSI (relative strength index) hovers at 67.83 — hot, but not overheated.



<h2 class="wp-block-heading">Strategy Doubles Down With $427M Bitcoin Buy</h2>



This move comes on the heels of fresh firepower from Strategy Inc (NASDAQ:<a class="ticker" href="https://www.benzinga.com/stock/MSTR#NASDAQ">MSTR</a>), the corporate titan with the world's largest Bitcoin treasury. The company just <a href="https://www.strategy.com/press/strategy-acquires-4020-btc-now-holds-580250-btc_05-26-2025">scooped</a> up 4,020 BTC for $427 million, pushing its total haul to a staggering 580,250 coins. 



Its average buy-in? A cool $69,979.



That latest buy was funded through at-the-market offerings, part of Strategy's long-running bet that Bitcoin isn't just a digital currency — it's the future of money. 



With the crypto now sitting nearly 60% higher over the past year and 17% up year to date, that bet is looking pretty savvy.



And while the road to Bitcoin's next all-time high might come with some bumps — the occasional dip, the regulatory tremor — the technical picture suggests bulls are once again in the driver's seat.

Bitcoin Breaks Out: Golden Cross Confirmed, Strategy Fuels Fire With $427 Million Buy

Mark Cuban doesn't hold back when it comes to Elon Musk. He's publicly mocked him and clowned on him in interviews. On the <a href="https://youtu.be/ueUL873205k?si=MSxABu3KiY22-hR3">"Club Shay Shay" podcast</a>, he even admitted he enjoys <a href="https://www.benzinga.com/news/25/04/44735140/most-people-dont-have-the-balls-to-do-it-says-mark-cuban-praising-musk-for-going-all-in-with-his-own-money-for-his-startups">riling the guy up</a> because Musk has "really thin skin and it just makes it easy."



So, it's not exactly what you'd expect when Cuban casually drops that he still owns a Tesla (NASDAQ:<a class="ticker" href="https://www.benzinga.com/stock/TSLA#NASDAQ">TSLA</a>).



"I haven't sold it yet," he said on the <a href="https://youtu.be/4NqzkITV9-I?si=zVUIawYIciQBTVBc">"Your Mom's House" podcast</a> in March. But that's about as much love as he's giving the car—or Musk—these days.

Because when Cuban was asked a straightforward question—what's your favorite car?—he didn't name-drop a Ferrari or some futuristic prototype. He answered the way a dad trying to justify his Costco membership might.



"A Kia. EV6," he said, grinning. "I like it. I'm comfortable with it." Then he added the real kicker: "It's cheap."



Cuban explained that while he still owns the Tesla, he's not exactly impressed with the design choices. "On the Tesla you've got to find [the turn signal] and push the button… while you're driving. You can't pay attention to the road as much."



The Kia, by contrast, does what it's supposed to do—without trying to reinvent the steering wheel. "It doesn't try to be too fancy," he said. "Your turn signal is like… a turn signal."

And while the EV6 doesn't <a href="https://www.benzinga.com/25/05/45553078/mark-cuban-says-you-dont-need-to-have-life-figured-out-by-22-he-got-fired-slept-on-the-floor-partied-like-a-rockstar-and-still-became-rich">exactly scream "billionaire status,"</a> Cuban doesn't care. His 15-year-old son, however, does. When Cuban pitched the Kia as a possible hand-me-down for driving practice, his son's response was blunt: "It's not cool, Dad." Worse? He called it a "nerd car."



"Exactly," Cuban responded, proudly accepting the title.



Still, the EV6 isn't some dinky eco-mobile. The <a href="https://www.caranddriver.com/kia/ev6">2025 model boasts</a> up to 319 miles of range, ultra-fast charging, and enough horsepower to smoke some luxury crossovers at a stoplight. It's even won awards, including World Performance Car of the Year. Not bad for a "nerd car."



As for fancier rides, Cuban's been there, done that. Lamborghini, Porsche, Ferrari—even a Hummer. But they were too loud, too annoying, or just too thirsty for gas. He caved and bought the same Lamborghini SUV Luka Dončić had, then promptly ditched it. "I had to get gas every 17 minutes," he said. "It was just too much."

These days, it's all about simplicity. Cuban plugs the Kia in at night and goes. "It has a 300-mile range. The stereo system is good."



Maybe that's what makes Cuban different from most billionaires. He's got a backup jet but drives a car that costs less than the average Tesla. And when the guy who once bought suits just because they didn't need belts says he's happy with a basic turn signal, you kind of have to believe him.



So yes, Mark Cuban <a href="https://www.benzinga.com/general/social-media/25/03/44211144/mark-cuban-reveals-the-thing-he-respects-most-about-elon-musk-what-hes-been-able-to-accomplish-is-insane-its-incredible">still owns a Tesla</a>. But if you see him on the road, odds are he's behind the wheel of a Kia—with zero shame and a full charge.&nbsp;
