Standard Chartered Bank says Ethereum (CRYPTO: <a class="ticker" href="https://www.benzinga.com/quote/eth/usd">ETH</a>)-focused corporate treasuries have already purchased 1% of all ETH in just two months and could grow to own as much as <a href="https://www.benzinga.com/money/ethereum-eth-price-predictions#:~:text=Maximum%20Prediction%3A%20%244%2C783,regulatory%20developments%20could%20moderate%20prices.">10% of the total supply.</a>
What Happened: The projection reflects a shift in digital asset allocation strategy among public companies, with Ethereum gaining preference over Bitcoin (CRYPTO: <a class="ticker" href="https://www.benzinga.com/quote/btc/usd">BTC</a>) due to yield-generating capabilities and regulatory arbitrage advantages.
According to a July 29 research note by Standard Chartered&#8217;s Digital Assets division, the volume of ETH bought by corporate treasury companies since early June has matched the strongest recorded flows into ETH exchange-traded funds (ETFs). 
These ETH treasury companies are outpacing their Bitcoin-focused counterparts, both in pace and potential.
The report argues that ETH treasuries offer structural benefits over BTC ones: they can participate in staking, access decentralized finance (DeFi) yields, and benefit from inefficiencies in jurisdictional regulations, unlike U.S.-based Ethereum ETFs that are restricted from staking. 
These advantages, Standard Chartered suggests, make ETH corporate treasuries more compelling long-term investment vehicles.
The bank forecasts that ETH treasury holdings, currently at 1% of the total circulating ETH, could expand tenfold to reach 10% of the total supply. 
This shift may reflect a broader institutional pivot toward Ethereum as a productive asset, rather than a static store of value.

Why It Matters: Ten publicly traded companies collectively hold 1,367,800 ETH, valued at approximately $5.24 billion, as Ethereum trades at $3,830 per token, according to <a href="https://x.com/MilkRoadDaily/status/1950186273475551470">data</a> posted by Milk Road on X.
This significant accumulation underscores Ethereum's growing role as a corporate treasury asset.
Bitmine (AMEX:<a class="ticker" href="https://www.benzinga.com/stock/BMNR#AMEX">BMNR</a>) leads with 566,700 ETH, valued at $2.17 billion, making it the largest public company holder of Ethereum. 
Sharplink Gaming (NASDAQ:<a class="ticker" href="https://www.benzinga.com/stock/SBET#NASDAQ">SBET</a>) follows with 438,200 ETH, worth $1.68 billion, reflecting its strategic focus on blockchain and digital assets. 
Crypto exchange Coinbase (NASDAQ:<a class="ticker" href="https://www.benzinga.com/stock/COIN#NASDAQ">COIN</a>) holds 137,300 ETH, valued at $525.86 million, representing a substantial portion of its corporate treasury.
Bit Digital (NASDAQ:<a class="ticker" href="https://www.benzinga.com/stock/BTBT#NASDAQ">BTBT</a>) owns 120,300 ETH, with a valuation of $460.75 million, having diversified from Bitcoin mining to Ethereum staking. 
BTCS Inc. (NASDAQ:<a class="ticker" href="https://www.benzinga.com/stock/BTCS#NASDAQ">BTCS</a>) holds 70,000 ETH, worth $268.1 million, leveraging its assets for staking revenue. 
Bitcoin Group (OTC:<a class="ticker" href="https://www.benzinga.com/stock/BTGGF#OTC">BTGGF</a>) possesses 10,300 ETH, valued at $39.45 million, while GameSquare (NASDAQ:<a class="ticker" href="https://www.benzinga.com/stock/GAME#NASDAQ">GAME</a>) holds 10,100 ETH, worth $38.68 million, as part of its expanded treasury mandate.
Intchains (NASDAQ:<a class="ticker" href="https://www.benzinga.com/stock/ICG#NASDAQ">ICG</a>) owns 7,000 ETH, valued at $26.81 million, integrating blockchain into its operations. 
KR1 plc (OTC:<a class="ticker" href="https://www.benzinga.com/stock/KROEF#OTC">KROEF</a>) holds 5,400 ETH, worth $20.68 million, maintaining a presence in the crypto space. 
Exodus Movement (AMEX:<a class="ticker" href="https://www.benzinga.com/stock/EXOD#AMEX">EXOD</a>) rounds out the list with 2,500 ETH, valued at $9.58 million, benefiting from significant unrealized gains.
These corporate holdings, which now surpass the 1% mark of total ETH supply, align with Standard Chartered&#8217;s data and underline the accelerating role of corporates in ETH's market structure.
The ETH-BTC trading pair has also strengthened notably since these purchases began. 
According to Standard Chartered, the ETH/BTC cross has risen from 0.018 in April to 0.032 by late July, marking Ethereum's best relative performance period this year, supported in part by treasury and ETF inflows.

Ethereum Treasuries Could Soon Own 10% Of All ETH: Standard Chartered

Boston Scientific (NYSE: <a class="ticker" href="https://www.benzinga.com/stock/bsx#NYSE">BSX</a>) today announced it has reached an agreement on the terms of a recommended offer to acquire BTG plc. (OTC: <a class="ticker" href="https://www.benzinga.com/stock/btggf#OTC">BTGGF</a>), a company headquartered in the United Kingdom, which develops and commercializes products used in minimally-invasive procedures targeting cancer and vascular diseases, as well as acute care pharmaceuticals.
The transaction has been unanimously approved by the boards of directors of Boston Scientific and BTG. Under the terms of the transaction, holders of BTG's common shares would receive cash consideration of 840 pence per share. The total cash consideration for 100% of BTG's equity is approximately £3.3B, or U.S.$4.2B. The transaction is intended to be effected by way of an English court-sanctioned scheme of arrangement, and is expected to close in the first half of 2019, subject to receipt of required regulatory approvals and the approval of BTG's shareholders and the U.K. court.
BTG has three key businesses, the largest of which is its Interventional Medicine portfolio which encompasses several peripheral interventional product lines. The interventional oncology franchise includes the TheraSphere® Y-90 radiotherapy microspheres and the GALIL™ cryoablation system, used to treat patients with liver, kidney and other cancers. More than 840,000 people are expected to be diagnosed with liver cancer in 2018, and that number is expected to grow to 1.1 million by 2030.i Kidney cancer is among the 10 most common cancers in both men and women.ii
The company's Interventional Medicine business also has a highly-differentiated vascular portfolio, including filters, crossing catheters, microfoam and the EKOS® Endovascular System. The EKOS system, in combination with clot-dissolving drugs, breaks down blood clots to restore blood flow in patients with pulmonary emboli, deep vein thrombosis and peripheral arterial occlusions. It was the first device cleared by the Food and Drug Administration for the treatment of pulmonary embolism – a common complication of hospitalization and a leading cause of preventable hospital deaths.iii

The BTG portfolio also includes a pharmaceutical business comprised of acute care antidotes to treat overexposure to certain medications and toxins, and a licensing business that receives royalties relating to products subject to BTG intellectual property and license agreements. The company has 1,600 employees globally, located in North America, Europe, Asia and Australia.

Boston Scientific has received irrevocable undertakings to vote in favor of the transaction from BTG's three largest shareholders, covering an aggregate of approximately 33% of BTG's outstanding shares, as well as from all of BTG's directors, who hold an additional 0.3% of BTG shares. The transaction would be funded with a combination of cash on hand and proceeds from debt financing entered into by Boston Scientific.The full terms of the proposed transaction, including the full terms of the undertakings from BTG's shareholders and directors, are set forth in an announcement made by Boston Scientific, Bravo Bidco Limited, a wholly-owned Boston Scientific subsidiary formed to effect the proposed transaction, and BTG today in accordance with Rule 2.7 of the U.K.'s City Code on Takeovers and Mergers. Boston Scientific has entered into a bridge financing facility providing for its receipt of £3.3B of committed financing, which satisfies the certain funds requirements of the U.K. Takeover Code.
The transaction is expected to be two to three cents accretive to Boston Scientific adjusted earnings per share in 2019, and increasingly accretive thereafter. On a GAAP basis, the transaction is expected to be dilutive in 2019, and less dilutive or increasingly accretive thereafter, as the case may be, due to amortization expense and acquisition-related net charges.
Barclays and Shearman &amp; Sterling are acting as financial and legal advisors, respectively, on behalf of Boston Scientific.

Boston Scientific Announces Recommended Offer to Acquire BTG plc for ~$4.2B

	Researchers from the UCL Cancer Institute and the specialist healthcare company BTG plc (OTC: <a class="ticker" href="/stock/btggf#OTC">BTGGF</a>) have begun the first clinical trial of an experimental treatment for liver cancer using X-ray imageable microscopic beads loaded with a targeted anti-cancer drug placed directly in the liver. The trial will evaluate delivering a precisely controlled dose of vandetanib, an inhibitor of multiple tumour growth pathways, directly to the arteries feeding a liver tumour by pre-loading the drug on a radiopaque bead which can be visualised on CT scans. Although still at a very early stage of research, the development programme aims to improve current treatments for patients with primary liver cancer and metastatic Colorectal Cancer (mCRC).</div>

	The current standard of care for liver cancer patients is known as transarterial chemoembolisation, or TACE, and involves injecting beads through an artery using a microcatheter to block the tumour-feeding blood vessels, starving the tumour of oxygen and nutrients. These beads are usually loaded with a chemotherapy drug that is released over time directly at the tumour site, avoiding exposure to the rest of the body and reducing side effects. Despite advances in this procedure, liver cancer remains one of the most common causes of cancer death worldwide[i].</div>

	To improve the treatment of patients with primary liver cancer and mCRC, the beads used in the VEROnA study (vandetanib-eluting radiopaque beads in patients with resectable liver malignancies) are pre-loaded with a multi-kinase inhibitor called vandetanib. Vandetanib targets genetic alterations and cell-signalling pathways that lead to liver cancer growth, recurrence and metastasis. These pathways, including vascular endothelial growth factors (VEGF-A and C) and epidermal growth factor receptor (EGFR), stimulate new tumour blood and lymph vessel growth and aid the development of solid tumours. They may also promote spread of the cancer to other organs and inhibit the body&#39;s own immune response to the tumour. A phase II trial of vandetanib in patients with advanced liver cancer showed some promise[ii], and provided a strong rationale for the loco-regional delivery of this drug.</div>

	Professor Ricky Sharma, Chair of Radiation Oncology at University College London and the study&#39;s primary investigator, said: &quot;The incidence and mortality rates for primary liver cancer continue to climb and it is vital that we explore new treatment approaches. This research is exciting because it is the first time we have been able to pre-load a targeted cancer drug on to an imageable bead, to deliver the targeted drug in high doses to the cancer and see exactly how well the beads reach the target we have defined. By refining the treatment using information from this clinical trial, we may be able to develop a liver-directed treatment as a superior alternative to the rather poorly tolerated drug treatments we currently offer patients with this type of cancer.&quot;</div>

	The vandetanib-eluting bead was developed in collaboration with Centre Hospitalier Universitaire Vaudois (CHUV), Lausanne, Switzerland and Dr. Alban Denys, professor at the department of medical radiology at CHUV. Vandetanib-eluting beads use BTG&#39;s recently developed radiopaque bead platform.[iii] Beads that can be visualised with CT or fluoroscopic imaging offer the advantage of providing visible confirmation of bead location during and after the embolisation procedure, enabling real-time adjustments to optimise patient treatment[iv].</div>

	The VEROnA study is sponsored by BTG and supported by the Cancer Research UK Experimental Cancer Medicines Centre and the UCL Cancer Institute and the National Institute for Health Research University College London Hospitals Biomedical Research Centre. Patients with primary liver cancer or mCRC who meet the eligibility criteria will be offered participation in the clinical trial at University College London Hospitals NHS Foundation Trust and the Royal Free Hospital NHS Foundation Trust. Patients suitable for the VEROnA study are those scheduled to have their liver tumours removed surgically. By studying the resected tissue in great detail, and comparing it to the scans performed before the operation, researchers will be able to assess exactly where the vandetanib-eluting beads have been deposited in and around the tumours, and how much drug has been delivered to the target. In this way, the VEROnA &quot;window of opportunity&quot; clinical trial will assess the safety and tolerability of the new treatment and the potential it offers for treating liver cancer.</div>

BTG Announces First Patient Treated With Microscopic Beads Pre-loaded With a Targeted Cancer Drug and Visible on CT Scans

BTG PLC (OTC: <a class="ticker" href="/stock/btggf#OTC">BTGGF</a>) reported a gain in its net profit during the year-ended March 31, 2015.
Its net profit rose to GBP33.6 million, from GBP24.3 million in the year-earlier period. Earnings per share surged to 9.0 pence versus 6.7 pence.
BTG's pretax profit for the year declined to 26.7 million pounds ($41.2 million), from GBP33.3 million in the year-ago period. Underlying profit gained to 15.4 pence per share from 14.3 pence per share.
Its revenue climbed to GBP367.8 million from GBP290.5 million.
"We have delivered a good financial performance for the year, with each business delivering underlying growth of more than 20%," Chief Executive Officer, Louise Makin said.
BTG shares gained 9.40 percent to close at $12.23 yesterday.

BTG to Acquire PneumRx for Up to $475M

BTG PLC (OTC: <a class="ticker" href="/stock/btggf#OTC">BTGGF</a>) posted a full-year profit.

BTG's pretax profit for the year came in at GBP23.0 million, versus a year-ago loss of GBP10.8 million. Its revenue climbed 77% to GBP197.0 million. 

Its expenditure on research and development surged to GBP39.7 million from GBP32.1 million.

BTG shares closed at $5.78 on Friday.
