What Happened: Bitcoin reached an intraday high of $97,437.96 in the early trading hours, then fell to roughly $96,500 in the afternoon before making a fresh move past $97,000 overnight.
Ethereum peaked at $1,872.94 for the day before pulling back to $1,835. Both assets saw an appreciable spike in trading volumes.
Bitcoin's market dominance rose to a yearly high of 63.8%, implying that investors were more confident in the "King Coin" relative to other cryptocurrencies.
Bitcoin&#8217;s uptick comes a day after the U.S. economy contracted in the first quarter, with investors possibly <a href="https://www.benzinga.com/economics/macro-economic-events/25/04/45100047/recession-odds-spike-wall-street-tumbles-as-q1-gdp-surprisingly-contracts-be-patient-trump-responds">considering it as a safe haven</a> in times of economic turmoil.
The upsurge resulted in $209 million in cryptocurrency liquidations, with $154 million in bearish shorts erased.
Bitcoin&#8217;s Open Interest exploded 8.21% to $66.93 billion in the last 24 hours, marking a jump in leverage and potential market volatility. Interestingly, despite the surge, the majority of Binance traders with open BTC positions were short as of this writing.
The market returned to "Greed" sentiment, according to the Crypto Fear and Greed Index.

The global cryptocurrency market capitalization rose 2.02% to $3.01 trillion in the last 24 hours.
Stocks began May on a high. The Dow Jones Industrial Average rose 83.60 points, or 0.21%, to end at 40,752.96. The S&amp;P 500 lifted 0.63% to finish at 5,604.14. The tech-heavy Nasdaq Composite spiked 1.52%, ending at 17,710.74.
The rally was catalyzed by strong first-quarter financials reported by tech biggies Microsoft Corp. (NASDAQ:<a class="ticker" href="https://www.benzinga.com/stock/MSFT#NASDAQ">MSFT</a>) and Meta Platforms Inc. (NASDAQ:<a class="ticker" href="https://www.benzinga.com/stock/META#NASDAQ">META</a>). The two ‘Mag 7' companies <a href="https://www.benzinga.com/25/04/45117886/microsoft-q3-earnings-highlights-revenue-beat-eps-beat-cloud-revenue-up-20">reported</a> revenue and earnings that exceeded expectations, gaining 7.63% and 4.23%, respectively.

Analyst Notes: Seasoned trader Peter Brandt said Bitcoin was on target to reach the bull cycle top between $125,000 and $150,000 by August or September if it can "regain the broken parabolic slope." From then on, Brandt projected a 50% pullback.
Typically, parabolic slope patterns are characterized by a steep, rapid, and exponential rise in price, followed by a sharp decline.

Cryptocurrency trader and analyst CryptoBullet stated Ethereum's mid-term correction is over, and the asset was primed for a "good" mid-term bounce.
"So in the next few months, I&#8217;m expecting a good rally: ETH &amp; its ecosystem will bounce. My first target is $2500," the trader predicted.

Bitcoin, Ethereum, Dogecoin Spike Alongside Stocks: Trader Peter Brandt Says BTC On Target To Reach Bull Market Top Of $125,000-$150,000

Robinhood Markets Inc. (NASDAQ:<a class="ticker" href="https://www.benzinga.com/stock/HOOD#NASDAQ">HOOD</a>) reported a marked decline in its cryptocurrency revenue in the first quarter as compressed prices hampered trading activity.
What happened: The commission-free trading platform released its quarterly <a href="https://in.benzinga.com/news/earnings/25/02/43676276/robinhood-q4-earnings-highlights-record-revenue-eps-beat-analyst-estimates-crypto-revenue-up-700">financials </a>after Wednesday&#8217;s market close and disclosed a cryptocurrency notional trading volume of $252 million, up 100% year-over-year but <a href="https://www.benzinga.com/markets/cryptocurrency/25/02/43682382/robinhood-ceo-vlad-tenev-reveals-what-hes-most-excited-about-as-crypto-revenue-skyrockets-8x-stock-surges-15-after-hours">down 30%</a> from the previous record quarter.
The cryptocurrency revenue was over 43% of Robinhood's total transaction-based revenue for the quarter.
The firm also revealed a cryptocurrency notional trading of $46 billion, up 28% from the same quarter last year but down 35% from the fourth quarter of 2024.

The company&#8217;s cryptocurrency arm, Robinhood Crypto, allows users to trade in popular coins such as Bitcoin (CRYPTO: <a class="ticker" href="https://www.benzinga.com/quote/btc/usd">BTC</a>), Ethereum (CRYPTO: <a class="ticker" href="https://www.benzinga.com/quote/eth/usd">ETH</a>), Dogecoin (CRYPTO: <a class="ticker" href="https://www.benzinga.com/quote/doge/usd">DOGE</a>), and others.
Why It Matters: The fall in volume and revenue followed a marked contraction in the cryptocurrency market in the first quarter, with total capitalization falling by more than 18%. Notably, Bitcoin and Ethereum plunged 11.82% and 45.41%, respectively, during the period.
During the earnings call, Robinhood CEO Vlad Tenev said it was normal for trading volumes to fluctuate, but he was pleased that the company&#8217;s market share was intact.
Tenev also talked about diversifying the business away from cryptocurrency. "We're diversifying the business outside of the crypto business, which will make us less reliant on crypto transaction volumes," the CEO said.

What Happened: Bitcoin tumbled below $92,000 in the early trading hours on first-quarter GDP contraction but eventually recovered to the mid-$94,000s by evening.
Ethereum followed a similar pattern, reversing early losses with the evening push.
Bitcoin was set to end April with gains of over 14%, a marked reversal from the 14% decline in the same period last year. Ethereum, on the other hand, dipped 1.22% in April.

Analyst Notes: Blockchain analytics firm CryptoQuant highlighted the new all-time high in Bitcoin's realized capitalization, at over $880 billion.
"Historically, large accumulations of realized capitalization have been mostly followed by considerable price increases in Bitcoin," CryptoQuant stated. It added that the price could see an "explosion" if the accumulations continue.
Realized capitalization measures the total acquisition cost of all coins in circulation, as opposed to the market capitalization, which uses the current price.

Cryptocurrency analyst and trader Ali Martinez identified $95,870 as a significant level for Bitcoin, with a breach potentially sparking a run to new all-time highs.
"If Bitcoin breaks and holds above $95,870, the next key target, based on the MVRV Pricing Bands, is $114,230," Martinez projected.
MVRV, a shorthand for Market Value to Realized Value, is a ratio used to assess the value of a cryptocurrency by comparing its current market value to its realized value.

What happened: Ethereum (CRYPTO: <a class="ticker" href="https://www.benzinga.com/quote/eth/usd">ETH</a>)-based FLOKI hit a two-month high of $0.00009044 late in the evening, representing a 15% spike in the last 24 hours.
The rally propelled the dog-themed meme coin to become the third-largest cryptocurrency gainer in the 24-hour period. Trading volume jumped 128% to over $211 million.
The momentum comes ahead of the TOKEN2049 cryptocurrency conference in Dubai, where Floki&#8217;s Community Relations Officer is scheduled to give a talk on the importance of utility for meme coins.

What Happened: Bitcoin consolidated in the $93,000 range after rising above $94,000 early this morning. Ethereum, the second-largest cryptocurrency, surpassed $1,800 for the first time since April 6.&nbsp;
Dogecoin, meanwhile, edged lower, following a sharp rebound earlier in the week.
Over $351 million was liquidated from the cryptocurrency market in the last 24 hours, with nearly $190 million in bearish shorts getting erased.&nbsp;
Nearly $289 million in Bitcoin shorts risked liquidation if the apex cryptocurrency reached $95,000.
Bitcoin&#8217;s Open Interest rose moderately by 0.15% in the last 24 hours, following a double-digit bump in the previous day.
Bearish bets continued to dominate over bullish long bets, as more than 62% of Binance traders with open Bitcoin positions bet against the leading cryptocurrency.
The market sentiment remained in "Greed," according to the Crypto Fear and Greed Index, signaling a rise in buying pressure.

The global cryptocurrency market capitalization stood at $2.93 trillion, following a marginal increase of 0.11% in the last 24 hours.
Stocks rose further on Wednesday. The Dow Jones Industrial Average jumped 419.59 points, or 1.07%, to end at 39,606.57. The S&amp;P 500 gained 1.67% to close at 5,375.86. The tech-heavy Nasdaq Composite spiked 2.50% to end at 16,708.05.
The advance comes amid reports that the Trump administration was contemplating <a href="https://www.benzinga.com/trading-ideas/movers/25/04/44962996/nio-stock-trades-higher-on-potential-china-tariff-cuts-ev-sector-optimism">lowering China tariffs to between 65% and 50%</a>, a significant reduction from the current 145%.
The sentiment has also been boosted by the shift in Trump&#8217;s tone toward Jerome Powell, who said he has no intention of firing the Federal Reserve Chair.

Analyst Notes: In a note to Benzinga, analysts at cryptocurrency payment company B2BINPAY said that while Bitcoin's current setup looks bullish, there are warning signs.
"Bitcoin dominance is currently very high, at 64.30%. This means that if Bitcoin drops even slightly from here, the altcoin market could face a much sharper decline. In this scenario, caution is warranted — it's like walking on thin ice," the analytics team added.
Widely followed cryptocurrency analyst Rekt Capital noted Ethereum's "strong" reaction as it tested the "historical demand area" as support.
"Continued stability here is essential to building out a reversal base," the chartist stated.

Bitcoin (CRYPTO: <a class="ticker" href="https://www.benzinga.com/quote/btc/usd">BTC</a>) is stealing gold's thunder this week. 
After soaring more than 6% in 24 hours, Bitcoin reclaimed the $94,000 level. The lift was driven by a renewed <a href="https://www.benzinga.com/crypto">"digital gold" narrative</a>, courtesy of what Unity Wallet's James Toledano calls "renewed institutional enthusiasm."
Another catalyst was a monster $912 million inflow into U.S. spot Bitcoin ETFs on Tuesday — the biggest in three months.
While some chalk the rally up to macro calm — including a weaker dollar and tariff de-escalation from President Donald Trump — Toledano flags that Bitcoin is also riding a "surge in safe-haven investing in both gold and bitcoin concurrently." Yet, he adds a warning label: "We shouldn't get too excited… the surge is short-lived" if ETF activity isn't backed by broader demand. Investors might want to stay "cautiously optimistic."

<h1 class="wp-block-heading">Bitcoin = Store Of Value + Inflation Hedge</h1>
According to Toledano, institutions increasingly treat Bitcoin as a store of value and an inflation hedge. That sentiment is being reinforced by capital outflows from traditional markets. "We're currently seeing a flight of capital from U.S. markets… Bitcoin represents an attractive alternative."
But let's not crown Bitcoin just yet, as Toledano reminds investors that volatility hasn't vanished. "Short-term corrections are likely… pullbacks could be healthy to avoid a bubble like Dec. 2024/Jan. 2025."
As long as ETF flows and macro support hold, the six-figure dream is still alive, but expect bumps along the way.
<h1 class="wp-block-heading">Meanwhile, Gold's Glory Fades, For Now</h1>
Gold, on the other hand, just pulled back 2% after briefly touching a record $3,500 an ounce. Risk-on sentiment surged after Trump signaled progress with China tariffs and reaffirmed support for Fed Chair Jerome Powell. As Blue Line Futures' Phillip Streible <a href="https://www.reuters.com/markets/commodities/gold-falls-trump-backs-down-threat-fire-fed-chief-2025-04-23/">puts it</a>: "You&#8217;re going to see a broad rotation out of some of the safe haven assets back chasing some of the specific names like Apple, Tesla."
Yet gold bulls shouldn't panic. Saxo Bank's Ole Hansen points out that despite the "blowout top around $3,500 and sharp reversal," the yellow metal "has so far managed to find support at $3,292," suggesting a mere pause within a broader uptrend.
Bitcoin may be having its moment, but gold's story isn't over. This safe haven standoff is far from settled.

What Happened: Bitcoin drove the surge, surpassing $93,000 for the first time since the first week of March.&nbsp;
The rest of the market followed suit, with Ethereum, which was previously immune to Bitcoin's advances, soaring nearly 12% in the last 24 hours.
Bitcoin's April gains shot up to 12.3%, a marked recovery from the 12% dip in the first quarter of 2025.
The rally hit bearish traders hard as nearly $516 million in short positions were wiped out in the last 24 hours.&nbsp;
However, if Bitcoin reversed to $90,000, over $677 million in bullish long bets were at risk of liquidation.
Bitcoin&#8217;s Open Interest lifted 12.18% in the last 24 hours to a new monthly high, while funds locked in Ethereum's futures contract soared 15%.
Interestingly, over 60% of Binance traders with open Bitcoin positions were betting against the leading cryptocurrency, according to the Long/Short Ratio.
The market sentiment dramatically shifted from &#8220;Fear&#8221; to "Greed," according to the Crypto Fear and Greed Index.

Another well-known chartist, going by the pseudonym CrediBULL Crypto, warned against premature celebration.

After Monday&#8217;s broad-based sell-off — triggered by renewed pressure from President Donald Trump on Federal Reserve Chairman Jerome Powell, raising concerns over the integrity of central bank independence — Wall Street bounced back with strength on Tuesday, buoyed by upbeat signals from <a href="https://www.benzinga.com/earnings">the corporate earnings season.</a>
By midday in New York, major indices were up by nearly 3%, with all 11 sectors of the S&amp;P 500 trading in positive territory. Consumer discretionary stocks led the rally.
The Dow Jones Industrial Average surged over 1,000 points, breaking above the 39,200 mark, as bullish momentum swept across Wall Street. Only a few S&amp;P 500 stocks remained in negative territory.
At a JPMorgan-hosted event in Washington, U.S. Treasury Secretary Scott Bessent hinted at a potential de-escalation in tensions with China, further supporting risk sentiment.
Shares of Tesla Inc. (NASDAQ:<a class="ticker" href="https://www.benzinga.com/stock/TSLA#NASDAQ">TSLA</a>) surged nearly 5% as investors looked ahead to the company's first-quarter earnings report, due after the closing bell.
In the bond market, after two sessions of rising Treasury yields, a modest pullback suggested some investors saw an opportunity to buy as long-dated yields neared the 5% threshold.
On the commodities front, gold briefly touched $3,500 per ounce overnight before retreating to $3,420 amid an improvement in equity market sentiment. Oil jumped 2.3%, with WTI crude reaching $64 per barrel, while copper gained 2.8%.
The cryptocurrency market also reflected a broader risk-on mood. Bitcoin (CRYPTO: <a class="ticker" href="https://www.benzinga.com/quote/btc/usd">BTC</a>) rallied 4% to $91,000, while Ethereum (CRYPTO: <a class="ticker" href="https://www.benzinga.com/quote/eth/usd">ETH</a>) advanced more than 7% to $1,700.

What Happened: The apex cryptocurrency touched an intraday high of $88,821.47 after crossing $87,000 the day before, as investors cheered the breakout following weeks of sideways price action.&nbsp;
The excitement was reflected through a 98% jump in trading volumes to $38.64 billion.
The uptick, however, failed to lift Ethereum out of the doldrums, as the second-largest cryptocurrency fell below $1,600.
Bitcoin's dominance reached 63.7%, signaling continued rotation of capital from altcoins to the leading digital asset.
The sentiment may have been bolstered overnight by news of Atkins&#8217; swearing-in as the 34th SEC Chair. Atkins had previously stated that building a regulatory framework for digital assets <a href="https://in.benzinga.com/markets/25/03/44531654/trumps-sec-pick-paul-atkins-says-his-top-priority-will-be-rational-crypto-regulations-marking-shift-from-gary-genslers-approach">would be his top priority</a>.
Total liquidations reached $270 million in the last 24 hours, with nearly equal number of bullish and bearish bets erased.
Bitcoin&#8217;s Open Interest rose 3.06% in the last 24 hours, representing an increase of $3.52 billion. That said, nearly 59% of Binance traders with an open BTC position were positioned short.
The market sentiment improved from &#8220;Fear&#8221; to "Neutral," according to the Crypto Fear and Greed Index.

The global cryptocurrency market capitalization stood at $2.74 trillion, following an increase of 0.76% in the last 24 hours.
Major stock averages ended the session in the red.&nbsp; The Dow Jones Industrial Average fell 971.82 points, or 2.48%, to end at 38,170.41. The S&amp;P 500 lost 2.36% to close at 5,158.20, while the tech-heavy Nasdaq Composite finished 2.55% lower at 15,870.90.
The sell-offs came after President Donald Trump <a href="https://www.benzinga.com/government/regulations/25/04/44909343/speculators-ramp-up-bets-on-who-will-succeed-fed-chair-powell-as-trumps-pressure-campaign-intensifies">intensified his attack</a> on Fed Chair Jerome Powell, accusing him of prior political favoritism and calling for &#8220;preemptive&#8221; interest rate cuts.
Meanwhile, gold surged to a record high above $3,400 per ounce, reflecting a 0.23% increase from the previous day.

Analyst Notes: CryptoQuant&#8217;s Head of Research, Julio Moreno, identified $91,000-$92,000 as a potential Bitcoin resistance level, which corresponded to the Trader&#8217;s On-chain Realized Price.
"The trader&#8217;s realized price acts as support when market conditions are bullish (green area, bull score &gt;= 60), and as resistance when market conditions are bearish (red area, bull score &lt;= 40)," Moreno explained.

Widely followed cryptocurrency analyst Rekt Capital commented on Bitcoin's breakout, stating that the "multi-month downtrend" was over.
"And when a technical downtrend is broken&#8230; technical uptrends emerge," Rekt Capital added.

Stocks in the U.S. were trading sharply lower by midday Monday, while gold and Bitcoin (CRYPTO: <a class="ticker" href="https://www.benzinga.com/quote/btc/usd">BTC</a>) surged in tandem, as a renewed political storm surrounding Federal Reserve independence shook confidence in the U.S. dollar and triggered a broad-based risk-off <a href="https://www.benzinga.com/government/regulations/25/04/44899280/are-investors-selling-us-treasuries-as-trump-attacks-powell-heres-what-latest-etf-flows-tell-you">mood on U.S. assets.</a>
The market opened the post-Easter trading week with deep losses, after President Donald Trump took to Truth Social demanding immediate rate cuts and blasting Fed Chair Jerome Powell as "Mr. Too Late," accusing him of past political bias and inflation misjudgment. 
Trump wrote that there's "virtually no inflation" and warned of an economic slowdown unless Powell acts "NOW."
The latest barrage reignited fears that central bank independence may be under direct threat, just days after reports emerged that the Trump administration is weighing Powell's removal ahead of his scheduled 2026 term expiration.
The U.S. Dollar Index (DXY) fell as much as 1%, marking its lowest level since early 2022, as the greenback weakened against a basket of major currencies including the Japanese yen, euro and Swiss franc. 
The selloff has intensified speculation that foreign investors may accelerate the repatriation of capital from U.S. assets amid mounting political and monetary instability.
The S&amp;P 500 dropped 2.8% by midday, with the Nasdaq 100 falling 3%, led lower by steep losses in megacap tech and financials. Every major sector was in the red, with 490 of the 500 S&amp;P 500 stocks trading lower.
In another break from historical norms, U.S. Treasury yields climbed even as equities tanked and volatility spiked. The 30-year yield rose 7 basis points to 4.87%, signaling investor selling of government debt. The CBOE Volatility Index (VIX) jumped 15%. 
Gold-linked equities were the few bright spots in an otherwise brutal session. Gold prices – as tracked by the SPDR Gold Trust (NYSE:<a class="ticker" href="https://www.benzinga.com/stock/GLD#NYSE">GLD</a>) – surged 2.6% to $3,410 per ounce, pushing the year-to-date gain to nearly 30%—on track for the metal's best annual performance since 2007. 
The move extends gold's stunning 2-month rally, now nearing 20%, amid persistent demand for safe-haven assets.
Bitcoin (CRYPTO: <a class="ticker" href="https://www.benzinga.com/quote/btc/usd">BTC</a>) gained 3.5% to trade at $88,274, echoing gold's momentum as investors seek alternatives to fiat currencies.

Wall Street Sinks, Dollar Slides As Trump Ramps Up Fed Attacks: What's Driving Markets Monday?

Memecoins followed Bitcoin's (CRYPTO: <a class="ticker" href="https://www.benzinga.com/quote/btc/usd">BTC</a>) Sunday evening breakout, with Fartcoin again spearheading the sector-wide rally.
What happened: The Solana (CRYPTO: <a class="ticker" href="https://www.benzinga.com/quote/sol/usd">SOL</a>)-based cryptocurrency spiked 4.67% over the previous day, becoming the biggest gainer among the top ten meme coins by market capitalization.
The silly-sounding coin has risen 111% in the last month, defying the tariff-induced bearishness in the broader cryptocurrency market.
Interestingly, a whale who had suffered big losses on previous FARTCOIN transactions and was holding unrealized losses flipped the script, selling around $2.47 million worth of memecoin for a $127,000 profit, according to Lookonchain.

Overall, the total memecoin market capitalization advanced 1.59% to $46.98 billion, with volume surging by 14.70%.

Last week also saw some panic in the market after cryptocurrency trading behemoth Binance (CRYPTO: <a class="ticker" href="https://www.benzinga.com/quote/bnb/usd">BNB</a>), along with other exchanges, faced withdrawal disruptions due to an Amazon Web Services outage on Tuesday, according to Reuters. The withdrawals resumed after around 23 minutes.
